Ok guys, we have been very lucky to discuss this, please lets not give anyone anything to complain about, Mhq have been more than accomodating.

OP posts:

A medical student wouldn't be allowed to work without a recognised mentor anyway would they?

FrogsSitonLogs · 26/07/2017 13:12

All these doctors they're tweeting, do CA think they won't have heard of him?

The thing with it is that doctors and nurses they contact cannot really engage with them on social media and explain to them why they can't/won't/wouldn't. They'll just need to simply not reply

I know though, I'm a paeds nurse! Should have mentioned that I guess. It was a rhetorical question really, I can't help wonder why CA think medical staff wouldn't be aware. As if tweeting them will make a difference.

ExConstance

Your post makes sense from the parents point of view. I couldn't go public like them, but I can understand why they did what they did. They stood up for what they believed. I didn't grudge CY making that final statement in court or CG making that statement outside court. They didn't get their facts right and were openly accusing GOSH, but I didn't feel angry about it. At the end of the day, GOSH and our courts have been around for a very long time, have rightly earned their reputation and will easily survive their accusations. 5 or 10 years down the line GOSH will still be doing a splendid job and CG will be just a memory that might have led to some change in some policy. But for the parents, loss of CG will probably be the biggest thing in their lives as long as they live.

But if you think from Charlie's point of view, everything the parents have done so far has probably prolonged his pain and suffering. And that is why I disagree with their actions.

I hope they are able to find some strength and peace at this difficult time.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 26/07/2017 13:14

I think it's safe to say that most people who would send an offensive email (I haven't seen it btw, no idea what it says) would not do so under their own name. To use the name of someone at Gosh is an extra little dig.

Writerwannabe83 · 26/07/2017 13:14

"please please PLEASE we are getting desparate 💙💙 we need to help get little charlie back to his home for his final week!! you are the future of the medical profession dont be like the horrible obstructive doctors poor charlie's family has had to deal with!! if you can run a ventilator and help get this precious boy home please contact me on [mobile phone number]"

They're sending that to student doctors?

Christ above.

I'm shaking my head in disbelief.

Rhodiolia · 26/07/2017 13:16

Still following the threads, bit afraid to post in case MNHQ are indeed handing out temp bans Shock

Shocked that this is still being dragged out.

MrsFionaCharming · 26/07/2017 13:16

So vaguely related specialists, then retired ones, then medical students. Who next? Hugh Laurie?

FlyingElbows · 26/07/2017 13:18

Much as we'd normally love to critically analyse a good old bit of mansplaining it might be beneficial if it doesn't happen on this thread. It would be a shame to lose another one.

As for the students I hope universities the country over are issuing instruction to them to remind them in no uncertain terms that any involvement would be career suicide as well as totally inappropriate.

Fancythat69 · 26/07/2017 13:20

Hugh Laurie Grin

SadGuru · 26/07/2017 13:20

Medical Students?!

So these twitter warriors can interpret scans, growth, head circumference and can counter all the medical opinions of highly trained specialists, but do not know that medical students cannot really administer any medication or do interventions on their own?!

TinselTwins · 26/07/2017 13:22

CA will be asking the cast of Casulty and ER to help (who ironically are probably less forbidden from freelancing in this way than not yet qualified med students!!)

CA are now saying that the horrible email (and horrible it was!) has come from someone connected to GOSH. Which will now be a fact since someone posted it on social media Hmm

smilingmind · 26/07/2017 13:23

In a country where I lived in Africa there was a whole street of doctors' offices with boards outside showing their qualifications. Some had '(failed)' after them.
Presumably the failed ones were cheaper so people with little money used them. I am being facetious but maybe CA could get someone from there.

Sirzy · 26/07/2017 13:24

Cast of Holby City perhaps could help? Hmm

They are turning it into a farce now. Scary thing is they seriously think they are helping!

GabsAlot · 26/07/2017 13:24

nice to see you @rhodiolia have you heard from lonelymummy at all?

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 26/07/2017 13:25

I can't believe I'm saying this about published on Sky News, but that piece by JR was excellent. Thanks for the link.

DorotheaBeale · 26/07/2017 13:27

Who next? Hugh Laurie? Grin

Sostenueto · 26/07/2017 13:27

Rhodiola how lovely to see you!Flowers

SimplyNigella · 26/07/2017 13:28

Gin I've had to rethink my view of Sky News which I wouldn't have considered reading or watching before. I've also been grudgingly impressed with the DM, which I never thought I would say.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 26/07/2017 13:29

If they're taking the wall down and using a cherry picker, I might be able to get my wheelchair in?
I haven't the first clue how to work a ventilator, but I'm sure there are some instructions on google somewhere!

farfallarocks · 26/07/2017 13:29

they are now criticising the amazing, in my opinion, judge.

The are all mad. There a few mad Italian posters too and I am so tempted to write something but I am sitting on my hands.

DorotheaBeale · 26/07/2017 13:30

Agree.

Rozenberg is a lawyer by training, so he knows the difference between evidence and wishful thinking.

Writerwannabe83 · 26/07/2017 13:31

Dentists?
Vets?

Anongst all their posts looking for professionals to help there is one post off a member who asked if someone can point her in the direction of Charlie's Shop as she needs to speak to someone about an order she's placed.... Confused

That's right love, never mind the fact a terminally ill baby is about to have his life support turned off, you just worry about your air freshener....

I'm just astounded.

farfallarocks · 26/07/2017 13:31

That CA page. My God, I have to stop looking at it.

0nline · 26/07/2017 13:32

Maybe send them this video first. Just to clarify ... things.
