I can't believe he's actually done it, these changes are happening so fast, even green card holders are not allowed to reenter the country if they leave.

But muslims from Saudi Arabia are fine? Hmm

In the main, most posters are well off, white Londoners, who live in their own rather unique bubble.

If one of the PP you are identifying against had written something similar about posters they were disagreeing with, how would that have gone down Hmm?

DorcasthePuffin · 30/01/2017 23:14

I'd really like StarUtopia to explain the comment about the Rothschilds. I do hope it was a joke I wasn't clever enough to understand, rather than an anti-Semitic trope.

Valentine2 · 30/01/2017 23:19

EnormousTiger
So you are trying to say that Ttump is doing things that the poor people agree with?

ExplodedCloud · 30/01/2017 23:21

Aren't the Rothschilds supposed to be part of the ruling world order? The Illuminati? The secret cabal of lizards
It's all a bit tinfoil hat for me.

Valentine2 · 30/01/2017 23:23

And seriously come on. Let's be honest. In the main, most posters are well off, white Londoners, who live in their own rather unique bubble.

I don't live in London. I spent a LONG time skipping meals to be where I am. So or was my family in my childhood that they used to dilute sauces to make do.
By labelling people, you will not make bridges. You will break them.

Valentine2 · 30/01/2017 23:23

So or = so poor Blush

DorcasthePuffin · 30/01/2017 23:29

They are the Jews who secretly rule the world, ExplodedCloud, according to anti-Semitic tradition. I'm sure StarUtopia meant it as a joke, but it is seriously not funny.

ExplodedCloud · 30/01/2017 23:37

As I said. Tinfoil.
Is it only Jewish people in the cabal? I thought it was more diverse.

DorcasthePuffin · 30/01/2017 23:39

No, only Jews, though obviously we have our quislings. We meet up every Friday, drink the blood of Christian children, and plan our pursuit of evil world domination via the media, culture, politics, academia and of course international finance.

It's bloody knackering at the end of a working week.

ExplodedCloud · 30/01/2017 23:40

And yes it's got deeply unpleasant anti Semitic overtones and undertones!

ExplodedCloud · 30/01/2017 23:41

Dorcas I admire your work ethic Wink

TheMysteriousJackelope · 31/01/2017 00:06

OriginalMavis The lady speaking to our group did have a logo, it was the word RESIST where each letter stood for something she was resisting - E for environmental destruction for example. I know one of the S's was 'Stupid Wall'.

The acting Attorney General has issued a statement that the Department of Justice will not be defending Trump's ban. This is scary, the Judicial arm and the Executive arm facing off. Unfortunately Trump is naming his Supreme Court appointment shortly so that's not going to help.

mimishimmi · 31/01/2017 00:11

It wouldn't stop with Muslims, they have said the same about so many of us, even when we are the same religion. It's all these 'new world order' thugs (who are very much part of the 'old world' establishment and from all religions) nicking everything, killing everyone off and pretending they are successful businessmen. Whilst we huddle in a corner and keen for our loved ones, they are triumphantly saying our cultures simply couldn't compete with the superiority of their amoral one.

TheMysteriousJackelope · 31/01/2017 00:13

EnormousTiger With Donald Trump trampling all over the constitution this will shortly become the problem of everyone in the US, rich and poor.

I am white and well off, but I live in Alabama. Yes, I do know there is severe poverty in my town. Donald Trump isn't helping because his policies for education will lead to unofficial segregation and shut down social mobility and opportunities for minority children. His plan to create jobs includes cutting 75% of regulations on businesses. Fire codes, OSHA rules, EPA requirements, employment laws, building codes, tax rules, financial reporting, fraud prevention, data protection involves thousands and thousands of rules, policies, codes, laws. Remove 75% of them and we're back to the days of the Triangle Shirt Waist Factory fire, 16 hour days, no over time, and no minimum wage.

EnormousTiger · 31/01/2017 07:51

I am not a trump supporter but I want us all to understand why a lot of people have supported him and do support him; that's all. We need to undrstand those people just as in the UK we need to understand the Brexit voters.

And my point was that loads of the poor have never been on a filght so are not unhappy that rich entitled people who are rich enough to take flights might be stopped flying. So what if you don't have enough food? You can see how it feels like another world where you can travel ou t of your area, that you are even rich enough to do that, to those who have not had a holiday away ever , even out of state.

Anyway I said I am not a Trump supporter I just sometimes feel on line you get so many people all giving one view point.

theDudesmummy · 31/01/2017 10:12

Because I am white, well-off (albeit due to education and hard work, not inheritance) and a Londoner, does that make my opinions worth less than anyone else's?

TheMysteriousJackelope · 31/01/2017 15:16

EnormousTiger I don't think the poor Trump supporters in the US are angry that refugees have the money to fly between countries (I suspect their flights are paid for by aid organizations anyway). The comments I have seen in support of it are that they want strong border security to prevent terrorist incidents in the US.

Nobody wants a terrorist incident in the US. I just don't think this executive order will help with that, and will make things a lot more dangerous for US citizens overseas.

TheMysteriousJackelope · 31/01/2017 15:17

EnormousTiger Poor people in non-US countries, especially European countries should be against the ban. The more refugees the US takes, the fewer will need to be resettled in Europe taking their jobs.

TheMysteriousJackelope · 31/01/2017 15:47

EnormousTiger I just went on another website and people there are praising Trump over this EO as they are fed up with illegal aliens taking their jobs and clogging up the ER when their child needs treatment.

The EO has nothing to do with illegal aliens, it is solely concerned with legal immigrants.

They are also pleased to have a candidate who follows up on his campaign promises. His promise was to ban all Muslims but they seem happy with this so I guess we should be grateful they aren't pushing for an even more extensive ban.

SummitLove · 31/01/2017 15:49

Restrictions on travelling surrounding these countries actually started in February last year, and were not just limited to citizens of those countries. It started under the Obama administration.

And, I dislike the term "Muslim Ban". It impacts everyone from those countries, regardless of their religion, and includes some very persecuted ethnic minorities.

SummitLove · 31/01/2017 15:53

Let's be honest. In the main, most posters are well off, white Londoners, who live in their own rather unique bubble.

That's me.

Currently banned from visiting the US without going through a fucking complicated (and expensive) visa application process when the majority of my British counterparts get to just apply for an ETSA.

So yeah, my bubble is pretty unique. It's a bit like insider information from within a bubble.

DalekBred · 31/01/2017 16:04

. I also am one that finds it someone ridiculous that we are up in arms about this, but no one batted at eyelid when Obama did the same to 11 countries back in 2011

^^ THis in spades. no riots then were there? and that was a BAN, not a 90 day trial vetting thing.

originalmavis · 31/01/2017 16:09

My bad country husband and I loves our wee london bubble. What was the point of that again? Who is allowed to comment now?

pickleday · 31/01/2017 17:08

^^ THis in spades. no riots then were there? and that was a BAN, not a 90 day trial vetting thing.

I didn't know about it at the time TBH. Maybe because Obama didn't crow and tweet about keeping the "bad dudes" out? Maybe cos it wasn't executed so quickly it caused panic and chaos and included people with green cards and dual nationality? Maybe cos it was based on some actual security intelligence rather than scaremongering and legitimising people's prejudices?

Look I don't think anyone thinks Obama's immigration or foreign policy was perfect, far from it, but this feels different because it Is different.
