I can't believe he's actually done it, these changes are happening so fast, even green card holders are not allowed to reenter the country if they leave.

But muslims from Saudi Arabia are fine? Hmm

This is an obscenity and that it was done on holocaust Memorial Day is an especially ghastly irony

jellymum1704 · 28/01/2017 20:22

Donaldtrumpshair, you belong in the drainpipe with your thoughts

BabCNesbitt · 28/01/2017 20:26

For those wondering why countries like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan aren't included, this may explain.

It's racism, pure and simple. And it's a fucking affront to everything that the US purports to stand for.

netflixandsleep · 28/01/2017 20:28

Though I don't agree with donaldtrumpshair AT ALL and completely understand PP's reaction to their comment I do also believe we need to think very seriously about how we react to people like this and their comments.

I say this with as much respect as possible to you donaldtrumpshair so please don't take offence to this but IMO people with views like that are uneducated. They do not have the skills to realise that not everything we read or see is true for example.

I really think we need to start responding with sympathy to comments like this and trying to educate people by attempting to calmly explain why saying hateful and silly things like that is very wrong and does not make you look good.

Maybe little by little that would help the horrible attitudes that more and more people seem to be holding? I don't know, I'm probably wrong, but I have to believe we can make a difference in that way or I just feel too helpless.

I hope I haven't offended anyone.

PrettyDarnQuick · 28/01/2017 20:28

Utterly sickening and just the beginning of the unravelling. 😔

PrettyDarnQuick · 28/01/2017 20:29

Trouble is, netflixandsleep, you can't fix stoopid.

BabCNesbitt · 28/01/2017 20:29

And donaldtrumpshair, if you seriously think he gives a flying toss about protecting Americans, want to explain why he's taking measures that will strip health insurance from ten of thousands of them and make it impossible for those people to get new coverage? That's going to kill far more people than supposed terrorists from these countries. He doesn't. Give. A. Fuck.

OlennasWimple · 28/01/2017 20:31

I cried when I read this. I am so afraid by what this means for many of my friends who are green card or visa holders Sad

netflixandsleep · 28/01/2017 20:32

I'm afraid you're probably right there prettydarn. It's so depressing.

BabCNesbitt · 28/01/2017 20:32

netflixandsleep, I suspect that anyone who uses language like "We need someone like him over here" is a fully paid-up member of the cult; they're only interested in their "alternative facts".

netflixandsleep · 28/01/2017 20:34

Well I'm hoping they have even just one brain cell Bab because if they do your previous comment should be very helpful in getting them to have a good think.

Abraiid2 · 28/01/2017 20:36

Sell herself to the mysoginistic president isn't what she supposed do. Trump doesn't want imports, thus the 35% taxes on imports

Unless you negotiate a trade deal.

We have withdrawn from the largest trade block in the world. We need cash. We are not in a position to choose our partners now. That is the harsh reality.

DorcasthePuffin · 28/01/2017 20:37

I thought my activist days were behind me, but it definitely feels like time to come out of retirement.

Totally agree with netflix on this one.

Figure17a · 28/01/2017 20:41

Or maybe we need to start understanding that there are reasons large number of people in the UK and else where hold those views. They're wrong but their views are formed because of their experiences. Just dismissing them as stupid is how we got in this mess!

I've had a couple of friends express surprise when I've said I'm not going to America anymore. But this pretty much sums up why.
I'm not Muslim but as a non white childfree pro choice woman, Dump would much prefer I never went there anyway.
People voted for him. This is partly why. He made no secret of wanting a Muslim registry. People will be pleased he is doing this.

I remember Sarah Jessica Parker was here promoting a show and she said how great it is that London elected a Muslim mayor. At the time I thought it was an odd comment but at that time I didn't think Dump would even get the Republican nomination. Now I see she was right to be enthused. I knew there was some anti Islamic sentiment over there but if you told me two years ago that we'd be here.....fucking hell.

PenguinRoar · 28/01/2017 20:42

Hollander has just come out to condemn Trump's actions along with other EU nations.

What a fucking joke the UK is becoming that our government wish to have more to do with this revolting fascist, than with our European neighbours who have longer memories and more human hearts.

I saw earlier that J K Rowling is hashtagging Chamberlain in her commentary on Theresa May's attempts to befriend Trump. Sadly, I think May knows far better what kind of horror Trump is inflicting.

PenguinRoar · 28/01/2017 20:43

Hollande not Hollander

Lorelei76 · 28/01/2017 20:44

And in more shades of nazi Germany, how are they going to decide who is a Muslim?!

netflixandsleep · 28/01/2017 20:45

I do agree Figure. I'm not a Muslim myself but this is a subject very close to my heart and I probably let my emotions get the better of me in terms of my choice of words there.

I suppose what I mean is that it seems to me that a lot of people are lacking in the skills, or perhaps just can't be bothered, to analyse what they read/see on the news or what they're hearing from others if that makes sense.

DonaldTrumpsHair · 28/01/2017 20:47

Oh, and Netflix, I am quite well educated. The OP asked for people's views, and, these are my views.
People might not like what I say but, to be honest, I don't really care.
Nothing I have said is untrue, I just have the balls to say it.

TheElementsSong · 28/01/2017 20:49

netflix how do you think it's going with the sympathetic educational approach for Donald? Grin

TheNameIsBarbara · 28/01/2017 20:50

It's already happening - the persecution of muslims in America. People prevented from boarding planes/pulled from planes due to the ban.

Absolutely disgusting- my heart goes out to anyone who faces the wrath (probably anyone of colour) from this odious mans policies.

And to all those Americans who voted for him - shame on you.

UncontrolledImmigrant · 28/01/2017 20:50

Recently it seems there are still enough people who would punch someone in the face for expressing similarly fascist views - just ask Richard spencer.

Might as well stick to gassing on from behind a screen then, hey?

It's obvious who and what you are, trumphair.
