I also am one that finds it someone ridiculous that we are up in arms about this, but no one batted at eyelid when Obama did the same to 11 countries back in 2011
The ban was a 6 month ban on new applications.
This is a ban on people who have already been approved, people who are in transit and arriving into the country. This ban effects green card holders, and those with dual nationality who are now stranded abroad and not being allowed onto planes or are being detained at US ports of entry.
Finally this ban has been judged illegal by a Federal Court judge and Homeland Security and CBP are ignoring the court order and continuing to detain US legal residents without benefit of legal representation. This is unconstitutional. This should be extremely worrying to any US citizen - government officials are disobeying and ignoring the judicial system.
This is nothing like the Obama ban. President Obama as a professor of constitutional law and with legislative experience knew how to write an executive order that was legally sound. If his order had been legally challenged he would have fought it through the courts, not told Homeland Security to ignore it and fired the AG who told him it was illegal.
