Katie, aged 7 was stabbed to death in the street.

I know someone has been arrested (and that's not for discussion)

I just feel so horrendously sad for this little girls family. 7 years old and such a brutal death.

Heartbreaking.

There was a balloon launch this afternoon near her school. Her family were there. There is so much support for them and for the school as well at this awful time.

I just simply can't imagine how they must be feeling.

The teenager has pleaded not guilty to murder, but a guilty plea on a lesser charge of manslaughter by diminished responsibility.

Hence there will it seems be no jury trial.

I feel very troubled about this outcome. There are circumstances which can't be reported which make the situation even more difficult and I feel for Katie's poor parents.

I agree. It's easy to guess the circumstances and indeed it is such a truly sad case. Poor little girl.

I feel for both sets of parents. The teenager was/is clearly very unwell and let down by camhs most likely due to cuts.

I know who the teenager is but can't even begin to understand the motive, even though she's is/was unwell. Absolutely harrowing.
