Cannot believe that a 7 year old girl has been stabbed to death.

Katie, aged 7 was stabbed to death in the street.

I know someone has been arrested (and that's not for discussion)

I just feel so horrendously sad for this little girls family. 7 years old and such a brutal death.

Heartbreaking.

I live about a mile from where this happened. The school she went to is not too far from me and I know children on my street who go there. It's such an awful thing to have happened and my heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy. I walked past the school this evening and was really upset. I can't imagine what the people involved are going through.

Rest in peace Katie, I am from York and as a city, we are all absolutely devastated that this has happened. We are currently trying to do everything we can to help the family. What hasn't been helpful is the amount of speculation going round. Rumours being plastered all over fb. Some people have absolutely no respect, just because you live a few doors away doesn't mean you know what happened.....

I just cannot get my head around it, my daughter is friends with Katie's cousin, I can't bear to think about what they are going through. There's just no words to describe this, heartbreaking x

I can't imagine how the parents of her school friends are having to deal with breaking this to them.

I read some further details on her injuries today and it's just too horrible to contemplate.

I read Katie's parents were in court. How utterly heart breaking for them.

No one don't think her parents attended court

Grandparents and other family members did though.

More details released today. That field looked quite remote. Can't help but wonder what lead to this. What could a 7 year old child do to provoke that

It's v sad. It honestly serves no purpose to speculate on WHY this happened though. The truth is we will never know or understand exactly what or why this happened.

Some of the details that were published yesterday were very distressing. I can't get it out of my head, I can't begin to imagine what kind of a state her parents & the rest of her family are in, I really can't.

That's not how I read Amanda's post at all. It's just such an awful thing to have happened but raking over it abs speculating won't help. And to protect the innocent involved, some details will never be released so Amanda is right in that we will probably never know or understand exactly what happened.

That poor, poor family.

We will never know why another human being would do that, no matter what "story" is speculated. It's heartbreaking.

Well lots more information will come out after and during trial. This is similiar to the Edwards case

Of course I'm not going to say anything here or on the internet, but the 15 year old involved is no secret. As in the other case I mentioned.

And it's worrying. 15 year olds doing this. I don't want to sweep it under the carpet and forget it or say we will never know. My own 15 year old nearly did this....I got her help. She's fine now

But something happens in their development at this age and it needs to be known. Help needs to be available. Families don't recover from this

I just feel so sad. I have a 15 yr old and a 9 yr old as well as an 18 yr old. It's impossible to imagine my 15 yr old harming anybody let alone a child. But that's what every parent thinks I suppose.
