metro.co.uk/2016/10/18/transgender-pupil-wins-fight-to-wear-girls-school-uniform-6198932/#mv-a

I think it is absolutely right that a school pupil of whichever sex can wear the traditional uniform of either sex.

However, I am slightly more concerned that this individual has also been granted the right to use toilet and changing facilities of the opposite sex - this bothers me as these areas are sex segregated for good reason Sad

This is in the UK btw.

"Why do people continually bring up murderers on these threads?"

They bring up lots of other things too. Things that get ignored.

HumphreyCobblers · 19/10/2016 17:00

The lack of acknowledgement of transmen seems to be a direct result of their non participation of trans activism imo.

Have you ever thought that a trans woman fighting for equality and their rights could be beneficial to all women?

  • Yes I used to think this. Then I realised that in fact the reverse is true. The whole trans debate as it is defined by transactivists is entirely non beneficial to women. The Tara Hudson issue, where a violent criminal who was still in possession of a penis (self described as an 'eight inch surprise' on her website) was popularly deemed appropriate to house in a women's prison. Tara's right to choose to stay away from other penis owners entirely trumped the right of female prisoners to be separate from penis owing people. This was what first opened my eyes to the issues involved, and how women's rights and freedoms could be eroded.

I totally agree that MtT should be equal to women and men and FtT. However equal does not mean the same.

In some circumstances segregation by sex exists for generally good reasons. In those instances an MtT does not fall on the female side of the line.
They may feel that they are not men and that is their prerogative , but they are not women. They need to create their own safe spaces, their own sports leagues, fight for their own quotas. Women will very happily support them in this.

MtT should not expect to the right to erode womens rights to their own benefit.

As someone smarter than me once said on one of these threads, if a man wants to be a woman they need to be able to empathise with women, and this includes not demanding access to their spaces.

Being brought up and socialized as a woman does not automatically confer advantage in our society. So transmen are not taking any privilege with them into the world of men. They probably just keep their heads down and get on with it. As, obviously, do many trans women. However, being brought up and socialized as a man does automatically confer advantage. And that privilege is something transmen bring with them. As witness their confident expectation that women will budge up and make way for them

Amalfimamma · 19/10/2016 17:38

This is Dave Muscato. He is a transwoman. He sometimes goes by the name Danielle.

He, according to him and those who would have you believe them, is a woman even though he has a moustache and a beard and he can use female spaces and facilities because he says he is a woman.

Amalfimamma · 19/10/2016 17:41

This on the other hand is Ada Wells. She claims that lesbians who do not want to have sex with transwomen who have not tranisitioned (therefore have a fully functioning penis) are transphobic

as well as a lot of other crap but that's a thread on its own

But Amal he has said he is a women now so if he walks in to the gym's female changing rooms i must continue to get undressed in front of him and not say a word. If i do speak out i will be called many names, banned from the gym and could be prosecuted. But hey wheres the harm in transwomen using female space Wink

Redrocketship · 19/10/2016 17:46

If I walk into a changing room with communal showers and see a person with their penis out in there, I'm supposed to be ok with it if they say they 'identify as' a woman. But if it was just a bloke showering in the ladies it would be a completely different situation and I'm allowed to feel threatened or unsafe?

Can anyone explain why this is? A penis is a penis. Why is it somehow different when it belongs to a trans woman? Do the people who support trans women having access to female spaces also support the abolition of all sex segregated spaces? Because that's essentially what it is.

Amalfimamma · 19/10/2016 17:51

IzzyIsBusy

Exactly izzy

the fact he has a fully functional penis means nothing

titchy · 19/10/2016 18:11

redrocket because it's not a penis if it's attached to a MtT - it's a shenis which is fine. Apparently.

ageingrunner · 19/10/2016 18:17

No one who is familiar with logic can explain it Redrocketship

BertrandRussell · 19/10/2016 18:20

And I am sure this isn't happening here, but on other threads on this and other forums I have been on, the trans lobby have a habit of leaving the thread, saying that they are "hiding it" because of the "vile attitudes" and "vitriol". Usually at a point where the questions get a bit difficult.

Redrocketship · 19/10/2016 18:23

Yep. The only reason is because the person TELLS us it's different, there is no scientific basis for this. We all know that females don't have penises but as women we are expected to shut up about it and make sure not to hurt their feelings. Perfect example of the differences in male/female socialisation

Felascloak · 19/10/2016 19:27

You would be better spending your energy demanding tougher sentences for any of the rare occurrences of predators pretending to be transgender to commit a crime.

I actually cannot believe someone could write this in a week where there is so much focus on rape and rape conviction rates.

Why do you think the law will deter male predators dolly? Conviction rates are appalling and women are blamed for being assaulted and told to avoid putting themselves at risk.
However in the case of female spaces we are told this is no big deal, men are barely a risk and the law will protect us.
Fuck right off with that.

LyndaNotLinda · 19/10/2016 19:37

It's bizarre isn't it? On the same day as Lily and her knobbly boy's knees were in the news, so was this story: www.standard.co.uk/news/london/anger-over-plans-to-create-unisex-changing-rooms-at-chelsea-swimming-pool-a3372896.html

Outrage at women being forced to share changing rooms with men. Not open plan - cubicles. And still, they're outraged*. And yet, it's okay for an 18 year old boy with a cock and balls to share communal changing rooms with a load of younger schoolgirls because he doesn't want to be known as Liam any more, he wants to be called Lily.

Fuck that.

*Personally I agree with them

HermioneWeasley · 19/10/2016 19:53

dolly what's your acceptable number of women to be attacked andse retry filmed as part of validating MTT's gender identity?

Mine's zero, you're obviously happy with more. What is it? Is there a point where you'd think it was problematic

bran in think you said MTT are entitled to access women's spaces. What do I have in common with a MTT that I don't have with a man? What's our commonality? Why do we have sex segragetd spaces at all?

SuburbanRhonda · 19/10/2016 20:10

And this from Danielle Muscato's coming out statement:

"While I have identified internally as a woman for a long time, for now, I will be presenting more-or-less as a man; that is, I will continue to wear mostly traditional men’s clothing, speak in my natural lower voice, and so on."

Ok so how the fuck are women supposed to know the difference when a bearded more-or-less man strolls into the female changing room? Are we expected to accept them all just in case we commit the cardinal sin of thinking a transwoman is a bloke?

Amalfimamma · 19/10/2016 20:32

Rachel Dolezal was ridiculed, threatened and lost her job for presenting as something she wasn't and yet we cannot say we don't want penises in female spaces.

Tomorrow I'm going to present as a Saudi princess and go on a shopping spree in harrows and tell them to "bill it"

See how far that will get me

SuburbanRhonda · 19/10/2016 20:46

And you might have diplomatic immunity as well, amalfi, which could lead you down an interesting path ..,,

WinchesterWoman · 19/10/2016 20:47

Oh great. I just saw this. Seriously.

WinchesterWoman · 19/10/2016 20:48

I mean don't any of these idiots read mumsnet. They should know by now.

LyndaNotLinda · 19/10/2016 20:53

As ever, I'm identifying as an independently wealthy woman who always gets whisked to the front of every queue because I'm better than that.

It is literal violence that no one else recognises this.

Amalfimamma · 19/10/2016 20:56

SuburbanRhonda

Oh now there an idea.......

decides to dress up for the ev3nual mugshot

Maybeitsthered · 19/10/2016 21:04

My DD (11) was told last week by her diversity teacher Hmm that she was being transphobic for saying MTF people shouldn't compete with born females in sports.

True story.

BertrandRussell · 19/10/2016 21:12

Diversity teacher? Tell me more....

And what did the school do when you complained?
