CNN now saying that 'Police say the shooting spree at a shopping mall in Munich, Germany, is over. A large police operation is underway.'

"Munich Police says a "large police operation" is under way and a wide area around the complex has been cordoned off.

"An official at the shopping centre said: "We are experiencing a problem."

BBC now reporting police have stated 15 deaths.

And that there are conflicting reports on whether the incident is really over.

Most public transport in Munich suspended.

According to German Media sites situation not over yet.
Shooter has allegedly managed to get away.

They keep talking of multiple casualties.

According to ZDF police haven't confirmed any deaths.

Marienplatz is right in the centre of the city. It will be packed at this time of a Friday evening.

I am very suspicious of where that mobile footage bbc news are showing has come from, seems a bit too convenient that they were randomly filming McDonald's at that moment. By sharing the footage from the 'must show all rolling news' perspective, I have a feeling they are being played into 'promoting' it by someone involved.

There are mobile phones with cameras everywhere there are people. It's not surprising that things are filmed.

Nor that footage ends up in the hands of the media. Though I hope it also reaches law enforcement, as there might be clues therein (which is why some agencies appeal for phone-filmed footage and are grateful people have the presence of mind to take it)

Yy, I get that you could be filming something else and catch something in the background, but this footage doesn't seem to be that. It seems to be someone actually filming the gunman before he opened fire, and continuing to film him. They do run, but far from straight away. Although of course it is possible they have cut off the beginning of the footage, it just seemed weird and I can't quite put my finger on it.

There are reports of Facebook posts trying to lure people to that McDonald's, so it could be a little suspicious why they where filming the guy walking up to the entrance

Beyond this is how I feel, very odd, and so convenient to have phone there at that time.

If the person filming is linked and it is an attempt to shock and drive panic it could be effective. I suppose all will become clear over time.

The Twitter account that shared it has been deleted. So whether there is anything in it or (most likely) not, it seems I'm probably not the only person having doubts as they must have had some flack to delete!

Odd, but there seems to be little concrete information at the moment.

DH said earlier that he reckons he looks white, and apparently spoke in unaccented German.

There is speculation that this might be a right wing extremist terrorist attack.

I was pulling the face at DH - can he honestly tell from one mobile footage video, taken from a distance. But along with the date, I think far right is certainly a possibility.
