My uncle sent me this and thought it was an appropriate time to share it with you

The Truth?

'This is how these things go uninvestigated'... [need an ironic emoticon] Looks like plenty of armchair physicists/air traffic controllers are indeed busy 'investigating' from their bumper book of conspiracy theories. Makes the Daily Express's Diana fixation look almost rational.

FOR THE LAST TIME

I have not asked anyone to stop discussing it. I never even mentioned that. I simply said I am glad KATG is not here to read this.

Is that not simple enough? What else do I need to clarify?

Oh FFS

I voiced my thoughts. I'm sorry I ever bloody posted.

sarahinphuket · 01/01/2007 06:55

I'm trying to watch the documentary but it keeps stopping every few seconds - bloody annoying! Does anyone know how I can watch it all the way through without it stopping all the time?

thanks
SIP

sarah, Im guessing that your internet connection is too slow? If you let it run through once, and then run it again, you might get it with no breaks. depends how the viewer works, but it should then be stored on your pc.

devilsadvocate - I sympathise, having been caught in the past, with comments that are (a) wilfully misunderstood and (b) disagreed with by everyone on the planet, even long after you've explained the original comment. Perhaps there should be a mumsnet etiquette, that if a poster has already defended their opinion once, it is better to write "I agree with XXXX" rather than repeating the same criticism?

WideWebWitch · 01/01/2007 09:44

TDA, no-one's been rude to you or pulled your posts apart though have they? I can't understand why you have a problem with Janh's and Sobernow's polite responses to your posts. And I don't care who you are/were, I'd say the same to anyone posting as you have.

Suggesting 9/11 shouldn't be discussed because KATG might not like it is, imo, a bit strange as a) she's not here and objecting herself b) even if she were she might not object, and c) no-one's saying it wasn't tragic for all the people involved or killed but it is a legitimate subject for discussion whether you believe the conspiracy theories or not (I tend towards not but there you go, I wouldn't stop anyone discussing it).

ludaloo · 01/01/2007 10:04

I was reading through some pages on the net about all this as DH has explained to me lots of the background to his theories. I didn't actually realise how much time he has spent on this!
Anyway...he also mentioned about the Gold that was kept under the WTC towers. He didn't go into to much detail on this as he had to go out...he is at work now too...but this is all a bit odd to me.
There was a large amount of gold...which had simply "gone missing".... People had reported it to be stole...some said it had simply "melted" (although I'm a bit alarmed by this theory...how could it be this hot underneath the towers?...the planes hit 70 odd storeys up!)
Anyway....after the event...secure trucks were found with the majority of the gold in them.... The gold had been moved prior to the event!??
Why!??
I'll try and find a link hang on...

ludaloo · 01/01/2007 10:08

here

cyrilsquirrel · 01/01/2007 10:26

TDA, I can't believe you would leave (or leave again) over this thread!

it is an open forum. We can discuss what ever we want if it is of interest to us, and clearly this is of interest to many people here.

How do you know it wouldn't be of interest to someone who had lost someone in 9/11? without asking them?

drosophila · 01/01/2007 10:41

What I think is interesting is the strength of feeling both in believers and non- believers of conspiracy theories.

I know not all conspiracy theories can be nonsense (you just have to look to history to see that) but it is difficult to establish which theories deserve attention.

TheDevilsAdvocate · 01/01/2007 12:09

How many times do you have to repeat yourself around here before people actually listen to what you are saying?

I did not suggest that 9/11 should not be discussed.

I did not say I was leaving because of this thread - I said it reminded me why I had originally decided to stay away.

I did not say what KATG might or might not think on the subject or the discussion.

I simply read the thread and posted my first thoughts, that I was glad KATG wasn't here to read it. My response, not her's.

Others before me posted that they thought it would be upsetting for those involved to read some of these theories. No one questioned them, so why question me?

BeetrootsResolution · 01/01/2007 12:46

greatt o see this is still being discussed - will be back later when my father has gone.

OP posts:
noddyholder · 01/01/2007 12:54

This is an open forum and I for one am glad to see a debate like this on here after months of mindless drivel and the same petty arguments over and over Why does everyone have to either agree or leave?

WideWebWitch · 01/01/2007 12:56

But even if that's what you mean, why should YOU be 'glad' that KATG isn't around to read it? (I'm quoting you, that's what you've said you mean, that seems to be the root of your problem). I just don't get what it has to do with you unless you're her, which I assume you're not!

WideWebWitch · 01/01/2007 12:58

And I think this thread is full of reasonable discussion and debate and mad conspirary theories and debunking and gossip and humour TDA. I can't imagine why it's reminded you why you decided to leave. But anyway, you clearly haven't as you've been reading this thread!

we really need a tongue out emoticon

TheDevilsAdvocate · 01/01/2007 13:07

No I haven't left, you're right. This place is too bloody addictive, hence I changed to a different name to try to wean myself off. A daft idea I had that people who know me can't drag me into conversation if they don't know I'm here. Hmmm, that didn't work then since I'm dragged in anyway

In all honesty WWW have you never read a thread, had an instant reaction to it and posted? I didn't take time to analyse my feelings, I just posted my first thoughts. Why is that so difficult for people to understand?

TheDevilsAdvocate · 01/01/2007 13:08

Sobernow - I did explain a bit further, repeatedly.

WideWebWitch · 01/01/2007 13:11

Oh god, yes, of course I have. Posted without thinking, of course! But I have also had my views challenged, been backed into a corner, argued and argued and finally given and apologised or agreed I was wrong! Doesn't happen often but you know

So, so, what I really want to know TDA, is who were you before? You've covered your tracks well, I haven't been able to discover!

DO TELL! PLEASE?!

RubberDuckInLeftoverCurry · 01/01/2007 13:17

As an aside, I know what you mean about things being different under a new name, TDA... I've recently changed to this one and Mumsnet does feel different under a new persona - I have a far deeper appreciation for newbies as a result

My brain hurts this morning though (no alcohol - still on restricted diet due to stomach bug) as we went to bed at 1am and the kids woke us up at 6am (ugh) so not sure I can contribute much to the debate today!!

WideWebWitch · 01/01/2007 13:19

Oh me too, I was someone else for a while (after a flounce as it happens!) and also feel much sorrier for new people as a result.

Anyway, so, it was all down to the Manchurian Candidate then?
