Since I had posted previous, also came up with this
We need to actually ask for something - debate, legislation, according to the petition guidelines

On NYE, women across the EU were sexually assaulted by gangs of men.
All women in Liberal Democracies must be free to live their lives without the menace of sexual violence.
The British Government must debate and pass legislation to guarantee the safety, rights and freedoms of women.

polentapies · 14/01/2016 20:51

Sorry cross posting - getting stuff in

HelpTheAnimalsFirst · 14/01/2016 20:54

I think you mean LESS than 300 characters reqd in Background?

polentapies · 14/01/2016 20:57

yes, what did I write?

polentapies · 14/01/2016 20:59

Ah... oops

unlucky83 · 14/01/2016 21:10

I agree I think we have to make the point that we have to uphold? protect? our rights ...reinforce that we don't want to lose what we already have.
Mention sexual violence but not make it all about that...it should be all violence and also oppression.
and mention equality? (I have a bit of a thing about women being treated as equals not lesser beings)

Pinkchampchoccies · 14/01/2016 21:13

"Women across the EU must be free to work, travel and live free of sexual violence (80) ?"

Yes to the point

polentapies · 14/01/2016 21:14

But it is about sexual violence and specifically what happened on NYE, otherwise the cultural relativism brigade will just make it about all sexual violence a la Emily

According to the petition guidelines we should be asking for something specific too

www.spectator.co.uk/2016/01/its-not-only-germany-that-covers-up-mass-sex-attacks-by-migrant-men-swedens-record-is-shameful/

'Stockholm police were warned not to give descriptions of the perpetrators lest they were accused of being racist'

polentapies · 14/01/2016 21:14

OK title agreed?

Pinkchampchoccies · 14/01/2016 21:15

This sounds good, but what legislation should they pass? sorry uber tired... not do probably daft question?

polentapies · 14/01/2016 21:20

Great Pink but I agree with Lume that there might be existing legislation, so how about

On NYE, women across EU were sexually assaulted by gangs of men.
All women living in liberal democracies must be free to travel, work and live, without the menace of sexual violence.
The British Government must enforce existing/pass legislation to guarantee the safety, rights and freedoms of women

Adding a 'the' to before 'EU' makes 300 characters......?

Theydontknowweknowtheyknow · 14/01/2016 21:28

Which begs the question what is the existing legislation? In the UK. Or are we asking that anyone who seeks asylum to the UK must adhere to it?

polentapies · 14/01/2016 21:32

No idea either

polentapies · 14/01/2016 21:32

If there is space mention press and business too.

Pinkchampchoccies · 14/01/2016 21:35

threat instead of menace?

polentapies · 14/01/2016 21:36

Which were the best articles? Any nominees?

fourmummy · 14/01/2016 21:37

Posters are quite right to say that there is already legislation in place such as existing rape laws, equal opportunities act, etc.. Plus, they can say, 'yep, we've enforced/passed legislation. Next". How about asking for something very specific such as anyone breaking the law will be deported (other countries are doing something similar, I think).

polentapies · 14/01/2016 21:37

I do agree, but it was not a threat, it was actual. Word to convey both?

VertigoNun · 14/01/2016 21:37

By businesses I mean business being scared of being called racist and allowing groups of Men to refuse to be trained or managed by Women.

By press that they respect Women's rights when the clash with rights of others.

fourmummy · 14/01/2016 21:39

Or are we asking that anyone who seeks asylum to the UK must adhere to it? yes, they must, otherwise no point in having it.

polentapies · 14/01/2016 21:41

Good point four but I think it needs more than just deportation as a specific. It needs to guaranteeing that what happened in Germany and elsewhere and any other impingement on our rights will not happen here. The government can't actually do anything about the EU in Westminster. We maybe should change the Liberal Democracies to the UK as that is all the Westminster can debate and pass legislation for
