ConstanceGardener: "does anyone know of anything happened (ie prosecution) to the slaughter house workers in a halal slaughter house who abused the animals before killing them? There was video evidence."

I think ten halal abbatoirs were involved this time last year. Video evidence but I dont think anyone was prosecuted. Some of them shut down.

Can you imagine the number of animals raised and slaughtered for the annual Haq at Mecca? It must be a river of blood and agony. And, everyone, the prayers that are supposed to be said before a muslim slaughterman cuts the throat of a sensitive, sentient creature does not happen - and it's irrelevant anyway. It's mumbo-jumbo for the likes of us, the Infidel.

No one will say it, but I will. Too many halal slaughtermen make an animal's death more painful and terrifying for their own enjoyment. It is actually a sexual rush that they experience, similar to a Huntsman when a fox is cornered. I know this, because some years ago a few hunting people were honest enough to state candidly that that is what keeps hunting going. Their PR shit about keeping the countryside clear of foxes does not jive on any level. A hunt might catch one fox per meeting. What kind of control is that - and anyway all creatures have a right to live their lives as well.

'More than 90% of Tunisians and Moroccans believe that a wife should always obey her husband. Only 14% of Iraqi Muslims and 22% of Jordanians think a woman should be allowed to initiate a divorce.'

'After Cologne, when Europeans think of refugees, many no longer picture persecuted families or toddlers. Instead they see menacing young men imbued with the sexism that is all too common across the Middle East and north Africa.'

ItsJustaUsername I'm in the same boat. Feel very strongly about everything raised here but very short of time. It's so important to keep the momentum going so I'll do everything I can too in terms of signing, e-mailing, writing, etc., but would appreciate being pointed in the right direction and told where to sign Smile . Btw, I feel less despondent than I did. Looks like there are many who feel the same.

thats really interesting!

I studied politics for a bit with a brilliant lecturer, way back then he was saying from an islamic extremist POV unions were dangerous.

On of the victims of NYE faces online harrsment and insults for speaking publicly.

Short translation

26-year old Selina was sexually assaulted on NYE. In a TV interview, she said that her assailants were Arabs. Someone made a video with clips of her, accusing her of being a racist and far-right, and includes her full identification, which he had found through research. It went viral on internet and social media. It reaches the point, where Selina starts receiving threatening phone calls. The video appears on the facebook page of a known radical Islamist, and Selina is starting to fear for her safety. Fortunately, she has found out who the original creator of the video is, and may take him to court.

Let's face it there was a minister in Germany who said far right chatrooms were as bad as the attacks. My mind was truly boggled at that. Ralf Jaeger, just looked him up again.

rumbleinthrjungle · 14/01/2016 19:31

The Guardian article has closed the comments I see - I'm very encouraged to see the overwhelming landslide of criticism and rejection of the article and what it says. Calm, intelligent responses stating clearly that this particular emperor is stark bollock naked.

The media is so out of step with public opinion it's staggering.

DespicableBee · 14/01/2016 19:37

Agreed

  • interview with Lale Akgün, former SPD member of parliament, originally from Turkey, now living in Cologne. Basically it says what we know already, but it's good to hear a woman politician saying it.

www.stern.de/tv/betroffene-ueber-die-koelner-silvesternacht---wir-hatten-angst-um-unser-leben--6644020.html

  • article (in German) includes a useful chronology of events up till 13.01.2016, as well as an interview with a policeman who resigned after NYE describing the difficulties facing the police in dealing with asylum seekers who commit crimes, and accusing the authorities of using the police as a scapegoat for errors of judgement by the politicians. 581 complaints so far, of which 305 concern sexual assault. That's more than 40%, closer to 55%. Now there are people suing the former head of Cologne police for failure to help people in danger.

Catching up with all the posts.

Sweden segregating swimming pools. Goodness me.

fakenamefornow · 14/01/2016 19:44

FFS why is it her job to take them to court. The absolute bottom line duty of the State, any State, is to keep it's citizens safe, they should be prosecuting these people for her.

2016IsANewYearforMe · 14/01/2016 19:46

Agree completely fakenamefornow.

DespicableBee · 14/01/2016 19:57

So woman's equality party fbk page now open for comments on their TV appearance about cologne attacks, just in case anyone wanted to comment

SonyaAtTheSamovar · 14/01/2016 19:58

Not the German state. I hope for her same her internet posting history is OK or she will be the only conviction to come out of the New Years Eve fiasco. (Joke - I hope.)

SonyaAtTheSamovar · 14/01/2016 19:58

For her sake.

Constancegardner · 14/01/2016 20:04

Feedback please,....
I have had to reduce them drastically due to character number constraints.

Feel free to completely rewrite. You can do a character count in MS Word or Open Write - Tools - Word count

------

Petition Title* (Currently 76 characters; must be >80)

Women must be free to work, travel and live without menace of sexual violence

Petition Background (Currently 363 Characters; must be >300)

On NYE, women across EU were sexually assaulted by gangs of men.
All women living in liberal democracies must be free to travel, work and live, without the menace of sexual violence.
The British Government must pass legislation to guarantee the safety, rights and freedoms of all women

I think the last sentence in particular need tightening up. All comments welcome.

LumelaMme · 14/01/2016 20:44

I've sent you some amendments. Sorry it took me a while.

LumelaMme · 14/01/2016 20:45

Here they are:
In the petition background, we need 'women across the EU', not 'across EU'

The danger with the last sentence is that the government will just say, we have the legislation in place already. How about...

'On NYE, women across the EU were sexually assaulted by gangs of men. All women living in liberal democracies must be able to retain their hard-won rights and freedoms, and not be menaced by the threat or reality of sexual violence. We feel this is now at risk.'
That's 263

LumelaMme · 14/01/2016 20:46

Maybe add to the end
now at risk and ask the Government to act.

polentapies · 14/01/2016 20:47

Women across the EU must be free to work, travel and live free of sexual violence (80) ?

LumelaMme · 14/01/2016 20:48

Yup, that works for me. Anyone else?
