9/11. Not interested in a debate here, but can we just have a quick show of hands?

I'm just interested in how many people around here are also highly skeptical of what we have been told about 9/11.

I'm really not after a debate (it would be long, involved, probably pointless and personally I have done this elsewhere), but I just wanted to see who is around.

It has very strong ongoing relevance for current world events.

Many thanks.

Lol

Very poor juxtaposition of my rarely used Lol there!

Anti conspiracy theorists accuse conspiracy researchers of wanting to simplify reality and see patterns of criminal and elite behaviour where there is only random coincidence and cock up. But criminals follow plans and that is why Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marples and Scotland Yard can track them and apprehend them. There is a pattern to the crimes and plans and schemes and there is a logic of the elites behind them. Once you understand the elite's gamne (as Alex Jones of infowars.com does) then you can spot their tricks and lies and see when they are lying and what their objective is. Then as the Who wrote "we won't get fooled again".

That is a good question, CultureSucksDownWords, and one I ponder on too. But I worry about how events are used politically (obvious in the case of 9/11), and how things become crystallised in history books, etc.. But you may well be right that trying to understand it is fruitless.

'What is the highest level of education you have completed, claig?'

Masters degree. But don't kid yourself that that is relevant because an ounce of common sense is worth all the paper in the world. Alex Jones has no degree at all, but he could run rings around any PhD when it comes to what goes on.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 13/10/2015 10:58

Alex Jones is a paranoid imbecile. And he shouts A LOT.

claig · 13/10/2015 11:00

'Alex Jones is a paranoid imbecile. And he shouts A LOT.'

Yes he does shout a little bit, and just because he is paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get him. But imbecile he is not.

MajesticWhine · 13/10/2015 11:01

The way that 9/11 was used politically and the appalling consequences does not also mean that it was an establishment/government/elite/whatever conspiracy.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Ah, now you are giving your game away a bit.

You might call it 'elitist pyschobabble' but those articles have got you and Alex down pat in terms of explaining why you are paranoid and susceptible to these theories

claig · 13/10/2015 11:11

'You might call it 'elitist pyschobabble' but those articles have got you and Alex down pat in terms of explaining why you are paranoid and susceptible to these theories'

No they haven't. They are just like the articles of the elite and Establishment that make out that abuse survivors are making it up and that no Establishment figure was a paedophile.

ExitPursuedByABear · 13/10/2015 11:16

Isn't Alex Jones that annoying Welsh female who presents the One Show?

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 13/10/2015 11:19

What someone said about it being a cult is so right.

This is an interesting article, one of the men who went on the BBC 9/11 Conspiracy Road Trip.

This is what happened to him: The 911 Conspiracy Theorist Who Changed His Mind

claig · 13/10/2015 11:20

There is the legendary Alex Jones, known as the real Alex Jones, whio has been a legend for more than 20 years among researchers, and later the BBC had a TV star called Alex Jones whose name comes on page 1 of google when Alex Jones is searched for. But they are not the same thing.

sparechange · 13/10/2015 11:21

Claig I'm starting to feel sorry for you now.

It must be tough living in the world when you are so paranoid that an invisible and unknown menace is constantly out to get you and everyone

You remind me a bit of the parents of those honour killing victims who refuse to blame their husbands for killing their daughters and say it was inevitable because it was gods will. I can see why they do it, because it must be easier to cope with and process the news if you think it was totally predetermined and uncontrollable. And like you, there is no reasoning or getting through or making them see how nonsensical it is.
And like you, they fall back to the 'that's what they want you to believe' line

As eye opening as this thread has been, a few things you have said have been a bit worrying.
I hope that if or when you realise you are struggling to cope, you can find some help to get through your anxiety and worries Flowers

Stitchosaurus · 13/10/2015 11:22

Just when I thought the thread couldn't get any more daft, the Daily Mail was held up as an example of trustworthy journalism Shock

claig · 13/10/2015 11:22

UnderTheGreenwoodTree is "The 911 Conspiracy Theorist Who Changed His Mind" BBC?

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 13/10/2015 11:23

Oh behave, claig.

AnotherEffingOrangeRevel · 13/10/2015 11:24

What someone said about it being a cult is so right.

Yes, Under, there are certainly some very cult-like communities of "conspiracy theorists".

However, by no means everyone who does not accept the official story of 9/11 is involved in these.

Thanks for your best wishes, but I don't need any pyschobabble as I don't believe in it.

VulcanWoman · 13/10/2015 11:31

The question is who commissioned the filming, who knows!
Not sure if the Alex Jones Welsh female was a joke but are you poo pooing conspiracy theorists, when you don't know who the biggest so called one is.

ExitPursuedByABear · 13/10/2015 11:35

Yes it was a joke.

VulcanWoman · 13/10/2015 11:39

Soo..OP; you "personally have no idea what really happened, but am confident it's not what we're told happened". (your 18.46 post yesterday)

Are you aware of how stupid that sounds? It's up there with Rumsfeld's 'known unknowns' FGS.
