sonny the Judges statement specifically states that the father/guardian have been given until 4:30 today to "bring contempt proceedings" and "issue notices to that effect".

That implies to me that the court cannot act without those notices being filed and that it is the responsibility of the father/guardian to initiate those proceedings, not the court.

sonnyson12 · 18/06/2015 14:31

They had until 4.30pm yesterday to decide and if so, the notices of contempt proceedings will be given today by 4.30pm.

Of course the court can initiate contempt proceedings, it's just in this case the judge is giving the father and guardian the opportunity to have their view. They are not deciding whether the court will initiate contempt proceedings. Just as the released Andrew Butt judgement, the judge makes the decision on contempt proceedings.

The reason I was referring to 4.30pm yesterday was that it seems to back up the FB group announcement that RM will face contempt proceedings.

I just find the FB statement of "official: Rebecca's husband has sent her to jail!" as really indicative of the lack of intelligence of those posting on that board. 100% reactionary, emotionally fuelled, and, incorrect.
If Rebecca Minnock ends up in jail, she has but one person to blame - herself.
I also find the continued repetitions of RM's allegations, and shouting down any who post anything anti-RM (ie, actually truthful!) extremely distasteful.
This is a woman whose allegations could have had a man on the sex-offenders' register and stigmatised for life because she couldn't share parental responsibility. Utterly deplorable.

sonnyson12 · 18/06/2015 15:50

Some of them seem to be awakening to the fact that the page has done RM absolutely no favours.

I very much doubt that much can be done to change their ingrained idiocy.

OP posts:
sonnyson12 · 18/06/2015 15:52

Even RM's brother is posting on there now.

Plenty of mothers face enforcement action and frequently, they have perfectly good reasons for contact not taking place - child is ill, distressed, family bereavement.... This is no different

I also disagree that this is correct. If your child is ill, get medical evidence. No court would punish a mother for having an ill child.

sonnyson12 · 18/06/2015 15:56

I believe that the Judge referred to the brother posting on facebook that he knew where Ethan was etc.

One look at his Facebook page tells you all you need to know about RM's and her families values.

He's even posted a photo of the judge with 'child abuser enabler written on it'!

OP posts:
sonnyson12 · 18/06/2015 15:58

Correction. "Child molester enabler".

This really isn't going to end well for them all.

3 hours ago on RM's Facebook

The negativity makes me even stronger and even more determined so do not think for one second I'm sat here intimidated, angry hurt or upset by you

'Even more determined' eh? Determined to do what I wonder.

sonnyson12 · 18/06/2015 16:03

You just could not make this up could you.

The one about Katie Hopkins is priceless. I have no words.

Even though this has been made public, you'd have thought RM's legal advisers would have told her that saying anything publicly at present is not the best of ideas, surely?

I've just seen it Spero,

Probably be in even more trouble for even writing this..
However the support is absolutely overwhelming I'm just reading now and still in shock, can't keep seeing all your support for Ethan and ignoring it.
A thank you from me doesn't quite cut it but believe me I am in tears as I write this
Legally I can't write, comment etc etc as you can imagine. So feeling trapped.
To all the negative argumentative ill informed bullies, I am as you must have seen a very strong positive women, I will never give up on Ethan in prison or out.
The negativity makes me even stronger and even more determined so do not think for one second I'm sat here intimidated, angry hurt or upset by you.
If you are parents writing all this then I strongly from experience recommend you get off your asses and focus on your children, every day is precious, failing that get your facts then judge or quite simply get a job.
Ethan will see all this one day and see how much we all love him and know what's right.
Want to say more but can't.
Heartbroken.

Her "in Prison or out" comment could be rather telling.

"according to one solicitor, Judges etc are groomed to believe all mothers are feeble minded aka mentally ill, it happens in birthing you know lol"

This is going to be the gift that just keeps on giving isn't it.

I am sure that RM has been given all manner of sensible advice by lots of different people. But you cannot force people to listen.

I don't think the child will be left with the mother alone for quite some time.

I agree Voyage, but had the mother had her way the child would have lost a father.

I know from my own case that an implacably hostile parent's view and behaviour can change but it takes repeated court hearings and superhuman levels of patience.

RM, by trying to manipulate the media and having a significant following encouraging her behaviour has made the possibility of working together as parent's unlikely.

As a parent, I wouldn't want my child anywhere near the mothers family or friends after what they have done and the attitudes they are continuing to display.

OP posts:
Viviennemary · 18/06/2015 17:31

This behaviour by her and her family will give a good insight to what they are really like and how far they are prepared to go to get their own way. I hope the judge takes note.

PeruvianFoodLover · 18/06/2015 17:40

Spero badly worded on my part - the fact that, as you say, women aren't punished when they "block contact" for legitimate reasons such as illness should be reassurance to the RM supporters club that Rebecca won't be punished as, in their opinion, she has justification for her behaviour.

In terms of the court initiating contempt proceedings - can they do that in this case? My understanding is that court can only initiate such proceedings when the contempt is in "the face of the court". In other cases, I thought it was required that notice was served by one of the parties in the case that they wish the court to consider contempt.
