Already there have been expressions of sympathy and support from Muslim resistance groups in Raqqa, where ISIS is headquartered -- they are fighting the same forces of extremism as we are. We need to be allies with Muslim communities and groups, not paint them all as murderers and terrorists.

As a matter of fact I'd say that we do all bear some responsibility for Iraq. It's not that we did it, but we picked a government that did. You can't just shrug that off and say "not my problem".

In our defence we didn't know it would happen and so I'd only really blame someone who still supported it now and claimed it was a good idea.

I think one thing that Western governments might want to do is stop pandering to Saudi Arabia and their oil. Islamic terrorists all have their reasons for doing the things they do. I don't buy the whole "brainwashing". For the guys at the top it's about power and hatred. For the minions at the bottom it's about power and hatred. Some of the converts become Muslims because they want to become radicalised and feel they have power. If Christians were joining extremist groups and killing people these people would just as likely have converted to Christianity.
