In part 2 we mainly discussed the legality and human consequences of Operation Protective Edge.

The israeli people are far from helpless wannabe. They are the most protected and cosseted group of people in the world.

People really truly think that this is genocide? I give up. Language has lost all meaning.

Even what is happening in Syria doesn't count as genocide, terrible as it is.

How about massacre then? Slaughter? Which term to describe blowing babies to bits would meet your approval?

To sum up pro Israeli arguments so far:

Linguistically the term genocide is inaccurate
The situation is too complex for is mere mortals to understand

I'm amazed at how people can defend Israel's actions as 'self-defence' still, STILL, after everything we have witnessed via social media over the last couple of weeks.

How does bombing hospitals, schools, mosques and people's HOMES (on the off chance they might be harbouring members of Hamas) and killing hundreds of innocent people defend Israel?

Do you not think that it will just deepen ill feeling towards Israel and perpetuate the cycle of violence?

On an unrelated point, disappointing to see that the genocide of First Nation people, Native Americans and Aboriginals is not included on that list.

What is happening to the Palestinians is ethnic cleansing at the very least.

yes you've missed out the real underlying core of what the apologists are saying - palestinians are not real human beings. their babies are not real babies. their lives don't have as much value as israeli lives and therefore we don't have to exercise any compassion.

I am shocked at the number of hospitals and ambulances Israel has destroyed. Al-Wafa, Al-Aqsa, Bait hanoun. Not to mention the attacks on ambulances. It is beyond despicable. And despite it's spokesmen bleating "Hamas", "Hamas" "what about Syria" everyone knows their atrocities but what will the world do to stop this? The UN is completely impotent. Feel so helpless.

Colegate smile did you not know that Hamas are using Palestinian hospitals, schools and people's homes for their rocket launchers intended to stir up feelings precisely such as yours? If the tables were turned, can you imagine Hamas phoning up Israelis to warn them to evacuate before responding?? Israeli doctors still continue to treat Palestinians in their hospitals. In fact the leader of Hamas very recently sent his one year old child to an Israeli hospital to be treated.

I read the wiki definition of genocide and thought it applied to this situation. I can't see how it isn't.
It seems that Israel won't stop until it's wiped out all those in Gaza, destroying hospitals so medical facilities are limited and more people suffer and die, deliberately targeting women and children to eliminate future generations. Destroying places of worship and schools to destroy the hopes, education and dreams of anyone who might be left.

also you might want to look into how hard it is to get a permit to go to an israeli hospital and how they deliberately issue the permit to lawyers who they don't then let pass into gaza to hand to the person who needs them to get out.

Will no one believe the doctors, both palestinian and international, red cross, spokesman for the UNWRA and many other charities who are screaming out that there are no weapons or Hamas leaders in the hospital?

And as Jon snow put it to Regev, even if Israel suspects there are they are bound by international law not to act if civilians are going to be killed.

Yes given that there are international eye witnesses and press in Gaza categorically stating that there were no weapons in the bombed hospitals, the UN schools etc, it's blatantly obvious that it's lies and excuses to justify war crimes.
