New thread as part 2 is nearly full.

Part 1 is here.

Part 1 was started when 3 Israeli boys were found murdered.

Part 2 is here.

In part 2 we mainly discussed the legality and human consequences of Operation Protective Edge.

Backinthering: No, I'm just stating a fact. Israel IS tiny. It is less than 2% of the Middle East.

IsraeliArab · 30/07/2014 17:37

SPRINGHEELED - there is no need to be rude.

And apparently a bit of a 'history lesson' is needed. Because some people don't seem to have the basic facts.

As for 'vile' government - I'm not mad on any government. I don't claim the Israeli government is perfect. Far from it.

But I don't know another government that would insist on warning those attacking WHEN and WHERE it was going to strike purely so that innocents could be moved to safety.

It is Hamas that will not let those innocents get out the way.

You seem to think that Hamas is just some over excitable group that doesn't like Jews very much. In fact Hamas gets millions in funding from Iran, and their own Charter states they want to kill every Jew in the Middle East.

Hamas is the same as the other Islamic terrorist groups such as Isis and Al Queda. So when Israel fights Hamas, it's no different from America fighting Al Queda.

Israel is at war with another country. Anyone who has ever visited knows categorically that it is not apartheid. So I don't get the point of your post

Springheeled · 30/07/2014 17:42

SarahS123 anyone who has ever visited Israel or anyone who has ever visited Gaza?

Yruapita · 30/07/2014 17:42

Great protection offered to bedouins by Israel!

State to court: Negev Bedouin must fend for themselves under Gaza rockets

Haaretz 18 July by Revital Hovel —

The state is not responsible for protecting Bedouin communities from rocket fire, the State Prosecution told the High Court of Justice on Thursday. In response to an urgent petition demanding that Bedouin villages in the Negev be protected, the state said it is the residents’ responsibility to protect themselves. “While the state is obliged to its residents’ security in general, it has no specific obligation to provide protection to all residents,” the state argued. The petition was submitted by several forums, including the Association for Human Rights on behalf of the Negev Bedouin, the council of unrecognized Bedouin villages in the Negev, and Physicians for Human Rights. Among the petitioners is the uncle of two Bedouin girls who were wounded when a rocket from Gaza hit their Negev home earlier this week.

The petitioners, representing some 100,000 of the 200,000 Negev Bedouin, accused the government of abandoning them under fire, due to the lack of any protection from rockets. The Israel Defense Forces said this week that the location of the girls’ home is classified as an “open area.” Small and isolated settlements are given lower priority when deciding on deployments of the Iron Dome, the IDF said … The current situation stems not from discrimination by the state’s authorities, but the Bedouin’s illegal settlement and construction, the state said. “For example, residents of a neighborhood in the center of the country, whose buildings were erected illegally, or not according to the planning and construction laws, would also be inadequately protected,” the state said. The state also said the rocket fire at the Bedouin villages was negligible.

I wonder who else Israel is supposed to protect but doesnt?

ReigningQueen · 30/07/2014 17:44

SarahS and israeliarab I suggest you read the thread and read some articles. You might learn something outside of the propaganda you've been fed.

wannabestressfree · 30/07/2014 17:45

Yes heaven forbid israeliarab have an opinion. I mean what are their credentials? Oh, only lives there and this is their reality. I think it's more pitiful to negate what they are saying with 'it's a history lesson'. No it's not! My friends are also living that reality and I am a long term poster so you don't have that to throw at me!!

Why is it certain posters can hijack other threats condemning and wearing their horror and clutched pearls as a badge of honour but NO ONE is allowed on here with any other than an anti Israeli stance.

Springheeled · 30/07/2014 17:48

Wannabestressfree how dare you equate moral outrage and disgust with 'pearl clutching'.

KareninsGirl · 30/07/2014 17:49

And how about th

Springheeled · 30/07/2014 17:49

You're allowed wherever you like- whether people will think your views are right or not is a different matter. Stop acting the victim just because you're losing the argument

IsraeliArab · 30/07/2014 17:50

Um, yes I have been to Gaza, in fact.

And I don't have any need for 'propaganda'. I have lived in Israel my whole life.

How many times have you been there SPRINGHEELED? Have YOU been to Gaza?

Why is it that the minute anyone gives an opposing view, some of you get incredibly rude?

KareninsGirl · 30/07/2014 17:50

The links I have provided which have been largely ignored? The ones which directly oppose the propaganda you have been fed?

I suggest you scroll back if you missed them.

Springheeled · 30/07/2014 17:50

Is it pearl clutching to find the bombing of children and refugee camps and markets abhorrent? God help us all then

GoshAnneGorilla · 30/07/2014 17:51

IsraeliArab is as Arab as Justin Bieber is Somali.

Come on!

Do the GIYUS types out there think we are really that stupid?

wannabestressfree · 30/07/2014 17:51

How dare you write off someone's opinion when it's not the one you profess to be 'true' when they actually live there not in leafy suburbia..... Unless I have this totally wrong and you are posting from gaza. Or Israel.

Doubt it though

IsraeliArab · 30/07/2014 17:54

Sorry I don't understand your post GoshAnneGorilla?

What is GIYUS?

I am an Israeli Arab, I even have relatives in the IDF.

No idea why you would even doubt this.

ToffeeMoon · 30/07/2014 17:54

I don't see anyway this conflict can ever be resolved. Neither side can or will compromise. So what do you do? Leave them to destroy each other, offering the Palestinians free passage to a safe country first. If they choose not to leave, I'm afraid both places are damned. There's almost no point talking about it anymore. Dreadful inhumanity on both sides.

GoshAnneGorilla · 30/07/2014 17:55

Wannabe - do you know for certain that "Israeli Arab" is who they say they are? Or is it just because you agree with them?

And yes, I dare.

IsraeliArab · 30/07/2014 17:55

SPRINHEELED You only seem to find it 'wrong' when it is happening to Gazan children. I don't see you say even once that it's 'abhorrent' when Israeli homes are blown up Israeli children murdered.

Have you also been protesting about the Syrian children murdered?

wannabestressfree · 30/07/2014 17:55

I also find nail bombs, tunneling to murder and using the people you profess to represent as human shields as abhorant.

Or is that ok?

Selective empathy

halfdrunkcoffee · 30/07/2014 17:56

I thought just the Bedouin and Druze served in the IDF? I may be wrong about this though.
Whereabouts in Israel do you live, IsraeliArab?

SarahS123 · 30/07/2014 17:56

Make sure you turn off your computer lots of computer technology developed in Israel and avoid medicines made in Israel. If you are going to boycott do it properly. Also think about all those clothes you wearied by kids in sweatshops, the Chinese products you love so much and the Arabic fruit you eat their abuse of women and human rights. Basically Boycotters are the biggest hypocrites on the planet.

wannabestressfree · 30/07/2014 17:56

If you have a problem with the poster address it to mumsnet re the talk guidelines not me.

IsraeliArab · 30/07/2014 17:56

For those of you who seem to have difficulty in accepting that there are Arabs who support Israel:

GoshAnneGorilla · 30/07/2014 17:58

RTFT IsraeliArab and stop spitting on the corpses of dead Syrians, because that is exactly what you are doing by using dead Syrians to excuse dead Palestinians.
