To continue our respectful, open, interesting discussion.

OP posts:

That's interesting Ronald because the prosecution haven't actually spelt that out, have they (maybe they have but my brain is befuddled!). I sort of knew the jeans nearly on top of the duvet meant something but hadn't picked up on the blood spatters being there would mean jeans or duvet weren't moved by police.

I more picked up on the fact that when he felt and looked for Reeva in the bed, he said he didn't know whether the duvet was on the bed. It's a double or kingsize bed and you would just know without doubt whether the duvet is on the floor or the bed cos it takes up a lot of room. I was amazed how small the bedroom looked and a quilt on the floor would be very obvious.

Obviously there will be defence to come but at the moment, going on what I've seen, I am more convinced of his guilt than ever. I am trying to remain impartial but finding it difficult. We will probably never know whether he was chasing her into the bathroom and whether he shot once, heard her fall on the magazine rack, and took more shots with intent to kill her, but I just hope - for the sake of her family - there is some sort of justice. They are showing such dignity. Whatever the verdict, he needs punishment, he more or less executed another human being when there were other options of escape and safety for him and I don't think there is any escaping that fact.

I do find the supporters outside the court quite nauseous with their flowers, white balloons and shouts of 'we love you Oscar' but I have a feeling they would support him even if it was proved without a shadow of doubt he deliberately killed poor Reeva.

I watched a bit of the trial on you tube last night.
I can't believe how arrogant OP is in the circumstances.

Aventurine · 15/04/2014 08:03

thanks

voiceofgodot · 15/04/2014 08:04

Roussette - I think Nel is playing it masterfully. On one day he touches on the position of the duvet and jeans and then moves on. The next day he comes back to the subject, but this time homing in on the spatters. I feel like he is slowly turning the screw and each time revealing something which flags up greater inconsistency in OP's version.

I wonder whether he'll return to the duvet again...?

FreeLikeABird · 15/04/2014 08:10

I think what there saying about the duvet is right, unless any of the defence brings forward anything to prove otherwise. I guess again time will tell.

I agree about the supporters outside, although it doesn't bother me, I choose just to ignore that, I just think some people are that ignorant that no matter what he's done they will always support him, I'm sure we have seen this in many cases. I just wish these people would have some respect for Reevas family unfortunately they don't even think.

For me before this case I did not even know who OP was, I think I may have seen him once on an advert on tv, although I'm not 100% sure of that.

AmIthatSpringy · 15/04/2014 08:10

According to journalist non twitter the duvet has been brought into court this morning in an evidence bag

Bonnielangbird · 15/04/2014 08:11

I am still undecided as to if he knew it was Reeva, he is certainly convincing on the stand. At times I actually feel sorry for him. He is very boyish and seems very young at times Same here - there is not going to be a happy ending and I'm finding I'm thinking about it far too much and it's upsetting. If he did actually know Reeva was there, then it is awful to think what she may have gone through. He will go to jail, but how much more horrendous it is in terms of what people are capable of, and he would be capable of endless lies too under extreme pressure. But the ending, bad enough with him lying, but so much worse to think Reeva may have known.

On the other hand, if OP genuinely thought there was an intruder and he was trying to protect his loved ones, the thought of him going to a UK jail for intending to kill an intruder before being attacked, well fine if that's the law. The thought of him going to a SA jail where he is likely to be repeatedly raped etc is horrible if his intent really was protection. Although it really bothers me that this happens whether someone is guilty or not - does anyone know if this is the case across all jails there?

Thinking of any scenario at all, it is upsetting on so many levels and I know I should stop watching and reading and just see what the judge decides. But for some reason I haven't been able to yet.

Went to bed thinking 'intruder theory', had a revelation which made me think 'definitely guilty'. And now back on the fence. Ugh.

FreeLikeABird · 15/04/2014 08:11

Why would they bring it into court? It's not what's on the duvet that's being questioned, it's the position of it, where it was.

AmIthatSpringy · 15/04/2014 08:15

No idea. That was tweeted by Gerald Imray, a SA journalist.

voiceofgodot · 15/04/2014 08:19

Does anybody know what the police say about the duvet? I'm assuming thus far nobody has admitted any tampering took place but the defence will seek to prove otherwise.

FreeLikeABird · 15/04/2014 08:25

Yes voice, I'm wondering if any of the photographs taken will show it moved like some did with the iPhone and cricket bat and the missing watch.

FreeLikeABird · 15/04/2014 08:28

Just read this on Alex Crawford twitter she is a journalist -

@AlexCrawfordSky: #OscarPistorius Accord to @karynmaughan State has indidcated to Judge that cross exam cd end by lunch....

@AlexCrawfordSky: #OscarPistorius When cross exam finishes, then the defence will have chance with OP

Nerf · 15/04/2014 08:28

Not really getting the duvet/ jeans thing . Is it that blood spatter shows that the duvet was on the floor, and OP has claimed that it wasn't? So a small detail he's got wrong rather than any indicator of guilt?

FreeLikeABird · 15/04/2014 08:30

Nerf although OP said when he went to get phone from side of bed he believes blood spatter transferred to duvet then. I'm still not convinced about duvet and what to see hard proof.

AmIthatSpringy · 15/04/2014 08:31

There has been so much info I'm getting confused.

Did one of the policemen not actually say under cross examination that he had put the duvet on the floor to take photos

Or did I dream that?

FreeLikeABird · 15/04/2014 08:32

AmI you are correct he did say that.

FreeLikeABird · 15/04/2014 08:35

They want to postpone till 5th may Confused

FreeLikeABird · 15/04/2014 08:36

They are going to finish cross examination with OP today, they want to postpone some point this week till 5th may.

Pyjamadonkey · 15/04/2014 08:36

Postponement for Easter eggs!

OneStepCloser · 15/04/2014 08:39

I thought Nel said he will have finished with the cross examination by the end of the week? I might have heard that wrong though.

FreeLikeABird · 15/04/2014 08:42

No onestep mr roux has said he has witnesses he has ready who they can fill the rest of the weeks time up with.
It says across the screen on tv mr Nel is hoping to finish today.

OneStepCloser · 15/04/2014 08:42

Ah, thanks Free

BMW6 · 15/04/2014 08:43

Wish Nel had asked about OP hearing Reeva flushing the toilet after she'd had her wee - OP would surely have heard that.........

FreeLikeABird · 15/04/2014 08:44

I might be wrong but that's what I thought I heard, there was a bit going across the bottom of the screen on ENCA although it's gone now. I'm sure we will find out soon.

Chipstick10 · 15/04/2014 08:44

Why did she shut the door after having a wee? It doesn't make sence
