To continue our respectful, open, interesting discussion.

OP posts:

Sorry to labour the point, Reevas underwear, was she still wearing it or was it neatly packed away? Does anyone know?

FreeLikeABird · 14/04/2014 21:32

Not heard anything about underwear onestep, only that she was wearing shorts and a black sleeveless top.

StampyIsMyBoyfriend · 14/04/2014 21:33

Everything aside, Nel is outstanding.

Watching him pick apart OP & get him to change his defence... Roux must be livid.

FreeLikeABird · 14/04/2014 21:33

Ronald you are correct about Dr Stipp you have refreshed my memory there, hmmm now that is interesting.

FreeLikeABird · 14/04/2014 21:35

I think I need to now go and google and listen again to Dr Stipp, I wonder what OP was doing upstairs in this time.

LouiseBrooks · 14/04/2014 21:36

Bonnie Will Roux re-direct though? He's already taken OP through his evidence once. I imagine he would re-direct if he thought there was a particular point to be made.

Bonnielangbird · 14/04/2014 21:41

louise not sure what you mean, do you mean object?

FrontierPsychiatrist · 14/04/2014 21:45

That's very interesting Ronald.

Can he kneel?

Looking, I think the points you made about the gun are very relevant. Wow.

Bonnie have a look at the video of that section of the court session online, it's very impressive. A very raw, visceral reaction.

I'd love to know why he thought to carry her downstairs. What in earth possessed him to move her when she was clearly very badly, indeed mortally, wounded.

His statement that RS died in his arms; doing first aid on someone with such extensive penetrating head and pelvic injuries just isn't going to make any difference. This is why I think the doctor didn't tell him to do anything different, there was nothing to be done.

In a guilty version, OP could have been trying to romanticise the moment. Also, in terms of lying in court, he has had an entire year to internalise his lies. He does believe he is innocent. Even if we assume a guilty version, in which he knows that he shot her, he has displaced so much responsibility for so many events that happened that he doesn't truly believe anymore that he is guilty.
-the gun fired accidentally
-the doctor didn't tell me what to do
-RS died

Quote from twitter feed above:
OP: I was now safe. I was between the intruder and Reeva.

When did he feel like he was in danger if it wasn't when he was rushing to approach the perceived intruder. I think that in his version, he wanted to claim that Reeva was now safe.

Or possibly, I was now safe, I had a gun.

Either way, I go so far as to call that a Freudian slip.

Apologies for any typos.

LouiseBrooks · 14/04/2014 21:48

Bonnie No, re-direct. You question your witness, the opposition then cross examinesthem, when they've finished you can then, I believe, re-direct i,e, ask your witness further questions again.

Daisypops · 14/04/2014 21:52

Im getting confused.... can someone clarify when reeva supposedly walked to the toilet. Was it when OP was getting the fans in from the balcony and his back was turned?

Daisypops · 14/04/2014 21:52

SauceForTheGander · 14/04/2014 21:55

So did he take a dying bleeding Reeva downstairs to keep people from coming upstairs and seeing evidence of a fight?

Bonnielangbird · 14/04/2014 21:55

A bit confused then as I had thought both sides could call OP as a witness and question publicly. But I guess in that case then yes, re-direct. At this stage I can see there being too many things left in doubt by the prosecution that the defence may want to try to cover off.

voiceofgodot · 14/04/2014 21:55

Daisy - yes.

FrontierPsychiatrist · 14/04/2014 21:56

Argh. I fucked that up. What I was trying to say, if it please the court I shall to explain:

OP said: I was now in a safe place between the intruders and Reeva.

He was in a safe place all along.

Is this his subconscious trying to tell us something?

As for me, I think my subconscious is saying 'off to bed'.

Good night all.

voiceofgodot · 14/04/2014 21:58

Just watched this of Dr Stipp's testimony. I didn't follow the trial closely in the early days, and didn't realise that he testified that during the screams and shots he saw most of the lights on upstairs in OP's house.

FreeLikeABird · 14/04/2014 22:02

I thought he carried Reeva downstairs after he had called the ambulance because they told him to take her to hospital, when Whoever it was who was first on the scene arrived he asked them to help him to take her to hospital.

Hillwalker · 14/04/2014 22:04

OP is only saying it was dark to justify his not seeing that Reeva was not in bed. Dr Stips seems like a reliable witness. Why would he lie about the lights being on?

Hillwalker · 14/04/2014 22:05

I mean Stipp.

FreeLikeABird · 14/04/2014 22:09

So going by Dr Stipp he was woken by 3 loud bangs, maybe he missed the first shot as we know there were 4.
Then he heard screaming, then he heard another 3 bangs (cricket bat?) then he heard a man scream help, help, help.

I'm tired can someone remind me how OP version would go? Did he scream help, help, help before or after using the bat?

emotionsecho · 14/04/2014 22:09

bonnie the accused is always a defence witness and cannot be called or compelled to testify by the prosecution. The accused has the right not to take the stand in his/her own defence, but once on the stand will be led through their testimony by the defence and then cross-examined by the prosecution the defence may the re-direct to clarify or contradict testimony given under the prosecution cross-examination.

LouiseBrooks · 14/04/2014 22:10

I didn't realise he said most of the lights were on, I thought he said the bathroom light.

Incidentally, I know it's not funny but that video is pretty ridiculous and the commentary is way too quick.

I'm going to find the transcript of his actual testimony

emotionsecho · 14/04/2014 22:13

louise are you able to access actual transcripts of the daily testimony, not just twitter feeds? If so could you let me know where, thanks.

FreeLikeABird · 14/04/2014 22:14

Louise if you find a full transcript please add a link here, I watched some of his testimony on YouTube but it was the full one.

Just watched another animation video that was under that one on YouTube and it was totally a load of crap!

FreeLikeABird · 14/04/2014 22:15

*wasn't the full one.
