They did tests?

Viviennemary · 18/10/2013 22:16

I hope I'm not on the wrong thread! I meant perhaps the people she is with are relatives or friends of the parents and there is nothing to worry about.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 18/10/2013 22:16

It says in the articles that they did DNA tests that showed hers wasn't compatible with the couples

SPBisResisting · 18/10/2013 22:16

Bei g thick here but cojldnt she be adopted? That said im sure they thought of that too!

OutragedFromLeeds · 18/10/2013 22:17

They've done DNA tests. Why not read the article before commenting on it?

deepfriedsage · 18/10/2013 22:18

There were fake documents, and three children born in a five month period.

OutragedFromLeeds · 18/10/2013 22:19

I'm sure if she was adopted or with friends of her parents they could have explained that?! I don't think the police are in the habit of swiping kids on the basis they have different coloured hair to their parents.

Spirulina · 18/10/2013 22:19

If so, then the parents would surely say?

morethanpotatoprints · 18/10/2013 22:20

SPB

I was going to say something similar, unless they definitely know she has been taken, and telling us all the info.
Maybe the child was orphaned or a number of other possibilities.

bundaberg · 18/10/2013 22:21

poor little girl. it must be pretty scary for her right now, having been removed from the only family she has ever known.

whatever happens now, if they find her real family or not, it's going to have a huge effect on her.

why do people do this??? Sad

hettienne · 18/10/2013 22:22

Not genetically related to them, the "mother" had two identities and multiple children born within the same years registered as hers - doesn't sound very straightforward at all.

Viviennemary · 18/10/2013 22:22

Her real parents might not have been able to cope so they passed her on to this couple. I know that's not right but why jump to conclusions that she is a stolen child.

bundaberg · 18/10/2013 22:23

the story says:

Police said when questioned, the pair changed their story about where the girl came from multiple times before a DNA test proved they were not genetically compatible.

During the investigation, police say that the 40-year-old woman has two separate identity cards which show she is registered as the mother of ten children in total.

However, the information on these cards suggests that the women was able to give birth to three children in a five-month period in 1993 and a further three children within three months around 1995.

I am guessing they probably have other evidence too, which points to the fact that these people abduct children

gallicgirl · 18/10/2013 22:23

I lived in Athens for a while and trust me, you don't see blonde people at all. A few tourists and thats it. This lass would have stuck out like a sore thumb so the chances of her being there legitimately are very slim.

This is all over Facebook too so I really hope she finds her parents. Poor thing is going to need a lot of support.

OutragedFromLeeds · 18/10/2013 22:25

Viv do you honestly think the police didn't ask any questions/do any investigating? Really? They just turned up and went 'she's blond and her parents aren't, put her in the van'! Come on now!

BerstieSpotts · 18/10/2013 22:33

Poor child :( Makes you wonder, doesn't it.

It must be really confusing for the children as well - I wonder what the people who were looking after her told her - if she was taken very young she might believe they are her real parents? Imagine being taken away from people you think are your family, to be placed with foster carers (perhaps multiple) before being taken back to a family who you don't remember :( Obviously it's right that she should be returned to her real family but it's awful. I hope for her and her family's sake that she hadn't been gone for long.

BerstieSpotts · 18/10/2013 22:35

There is absolutely no way that the police statements would allude to abduction if they didn't have strong evidence that this was the case.

Viviennemary · 18/10/2013 22:35

Nobody knows the circumstances. But just to say she is kidnapped is plain daft without knowing the facts.

BerstieSpotts · 18/10/2013 22:37

Oh bless her she looks so distressed in the photos :( I have a 5 year old and cannot imagine how hard it would be for her to understand or cope with. I hope she is with a kind foster family.

OutragedFromLeeds · 18/10/2013 22:37

Viv Do you have inside information about the Greek police? How do you know they don't know 'the facts'?!

SparkleSoiree · 18/10/2013 22:43

Ben Needham's family are saying that there is a lead in the case of Ben which has not been closed or investigated whereby a prisoner claims Ben was being held in the same area this child was found today..

SparkleSoiree · 18/10/2013 22:43

Sorry meant to add that lead dated back to 1996, four years after he went missing.

deepfriedsage · 18/10/2013 22:44

Leeds, I think Viv is giving benefit of doubt. Viv, read some articles.

ZZZenagain · 18/10/2013 22:47

I don't see how given what was reported in those articles, this could be anything but a suspicious case tbh.

How old would Ben be now?

SparkleSoiree · 18/10/2013 22:49

He was 21 months in 1991 so he would be around 22-23 yrs old now.
