I can't believe this man only got 6 years??! here Surely he deserves life at least?? I have a 2 year old and just can't imagine how I would feel if someone did this to her - why on earth did he just get 6 years??

I think children are lumped in with animals when it comes to sentencing. If this had happened to an adult, they person would have received a longer sentence. I think children are somehow perceived as being less important.

She didn't open her eyes for 24 hours, the poor little soul :( is all I'm thinking about, the sheer horror of it. :(

What else can be done? Draw it to the attention of a ranty sort of newspaper?

The last case like this that spurred me to actually write got picked up by charities and all sorts, but this case I'm not sure who else to contact.

Does anybody know the sentencing in Scotland for this crime? Is this 'normal'?

I can't bring myself to type it, but if he did what I presume he did then in England it's 14yrs minimum. And that's just sexual assault.

I'm sorry I'm not contributing more. I am finding it too distressing, but I am trying to research and will add my voice wherever needed.

I can only sleep tonight after reading that by thinking that the prison officers may 'accidently' not notice that a few big, heavy, dangerous fuckers slipped into his cell.

Am I alone in being a little surprised that there is not more traffic on this thread? It upsets me slightly to think that people might be more interested in commenting on the use of parent and child parking spaces.

I think there is little traffic because people see the title and guess what sort of thing it will be and can't face it. I didn't read the link for ages, my first comment on here was before I read it. I imagined I could guess, but reading what happened - it makes you feel so powerless and upset. If people don't want to open a thread that they suspect will make them feel that way then I understand that. It's not a reflection on what people care about, but what they can cope with.

yes, it is horrendous. We don't know exactly what the sentence was. But wishes for 'prison heavies' to dole out some kind of justice is pretty self-indulgent, and does nothing to advance any kind of justice, other than a licence for 'might is right'. Which this girl suffered.

It's not self indulgent for people to think that. What an appalling thing to say. Really, that's terrible, to think that people on this thread are self-indulgent.

Comments of that type come from the fact that justice in this case has not been done satisfactorily through the official channels. I find your comment tactless TBH,
