It seems sanity has prevailed. Let's hope there are no more delays and the site is cleared ASAP

I asked this before but haven't had an answer.
Am I right in saying that the families on the legal site are allowed to stay?
If this is true then it isn't anti traveller prejudice as the ones on the legal site are still travellers aren't they?
They are just there legitimately.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Haggyoldclothbatspus · 20/10/2011 12:46

hate campaign!
Buona fortuna a voi a. Conservazione che prende I riddure in pani!

bugster · 20/10/2011 12:46

Several of you have mentioned that travellers cannot live in bricks and mortar. If that is there culture fine, but they have to buy land and develop it where there is planning permission, or only if they obtain it. Lots of people would like to live a certain way but we can't all have it just because we feel entitled. We have to live according to the law.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 20/10/2011 12:47

@LadyEvilEyes... you're correct. The site is about 50/50. The occupants of the legal half are perfectly entitled to be there. I

niceguy2 · 20/10/2011 12:47

Exactly right Lady. That's why all the stupid attempts to make this into a race issue is simply way off base.

Legal side - fine

Illegal side - Not fine

Good old babel fish!

2old2beamum · 20/10/2011 12:48

I applaud you Fifis25 well written

bugster · 20/10/2011 12:50

Sorry meant to write 'their' instead of 'there'!

niceguy2 · 20/10/2011 12:50

Several of you have mentioned that travellers cannot live in bricks and mortar.

Except some of these traveler's actually own bricks & mortar houses too so not sure how they reconcile that one.

glasnost · 20/10/2011 12:54

Who told you that notsoniceguy? Viscout Rothermere or Uncle Rupe?

That'll be the respective owners of the DM and all the rest of the UK media, more or less. Who isn't British. So how DARE he Cogito?

Haggyoldclothbatspus · 20/10/2011 12:54

It isn't and has never been a racist issue. The same would have happened to anybody in the same situation, wether they were gypsies or not. It's legal. Who turned it into a racist issue? Savvy lawyers for the defense and misguided treehuggers chained to the gates, who have successfully manipulated the media.

Dont foget thats its hard to get an application for a legal site approved. Theres opposition from residents etc which usually goes against the travellers.

They are building one in crewe i believe. Maybe it would be worth seeing how that goes as a bluprint iyswim.

fact remains that there is a shit load of gypsies who wont part with their tradition to move into houses. At somepoint

I see that they've cut free the protestor's who chained & concreted themselves into various parts of the site.

What a shame. Personally I think the authorities should have left them alone for a couple of days. Let them have their protest...in the cold...and damp.

Aww bless you with your tit for tat deletions Glasnost. As it happens I never bother reporting anything you say because frankly, it'd be even more tiresome than reading your rantings.

needanewname · 20/10/2011 14:11

Has anyone even noticed that their posts have been deleted?!!

EdlessAllenPoe · 20/10/2011 14:13

"They cant live on sites such as haven and park resorts as we can. Most of these places have strict no gypsy policies. They dont have strictly no jewish, muslim, polish or council estaters. Only no Gypsys."

i have never seen a 'no gypsy' sign. never. i have noted 'maximum stay' and 'closed period' clauses (which may be for planning reasons, as well as to give the owners holidays). some of the campsites i stay at regularly have travellers staying at them.

would you care to link to these 'no gypsy' policies that you allege exist?

SansaLannister · 20/10/2011 14:22

Anyone can stay at Haven or legal caravan sites. You book them online. They don't ask if you're gypsies on the booking sites. We holiday at caravan/camp sites. Never seen any 'no gypsy' signs.

Of course, there are rules to be obeyed. You have to pay for the stay in advance and if the park does not have a residence license, most don't, they are only licensed as holiday parks, then you cannot legally live on them all year round.

But even then, we looked into living in a caravan for good. What you do is buy in a holida park, then, for 10 weeks out of the year, you have to leave. We know someone who does this. They swap with caravan owners in other parks in the UK.

Perfectly legal.

You can live a nomadic life without breaking the law, you know.

glasnost · 20/10/2011 14:37

It's not tit for tat whomovedmy it's not letting you intellectually dishonest hypocrites get away with it anymore. You can be beaten at your own game. And you will be.

needanewname · 20/10/2011 14:40

Must be hard work in your world

SansaLannister · 20/10/2011 14:40

I hope you're not presuming to be the one who delivers the blows, glas. That would be, well, delusional.

glasnost · 20/10/2011 14:48

And get back to reading your bible of truth whomovedmychoc: The Times. Owned by a foreign national living abroad who indulges in wiretapping murdered girl's parents' phones. You'll surely get a true and unbiased worldview reading that rag, won't you? I do think you read my "rantings" quite alot as you seem to know everything I've posted recently. Quite spooky.

Notsoniceguy you haven't answered my point about where you get your info from re. the gypsies having homes elsewhere. Where did you get that from?

bemybebe · 20/10/2011 14:51

Glas go back to reading that beacon of wisdom and impartiality which is "Socialist Worker".

Haggyoldclothbatspus · 20/10/2011 14:53
