It seems sanity has prevailed. Let's hope there are no more delays and the site is cleared ASAP

Oh dear. I'm just making a cae - there's no derision here from me, certainly, apart from when all the abuse came out of the woodwork and I bemoaned a lack of

glasnost · 19/10/2011 21:44

Only abuse I've seen on here has been oneway and trained on the anti eviction posters.

Blueberties · 19/10/2011 21:45

coherent thought.

Glasnost: I would try to be a bit less insulting and abusive next time tbh.

Blueberties · 19/10/2011 21:46

Glasnost: I think we both know that isn't true. That's why you've been deleted. I haven't read the whole thing but I haven't called names. You may dislike my self-righteousness but there we are. Not much I can do about that.

Peace 2old2beamum Smile

Bluebells

2 of my friends are in a one bed flat with 2 adults and 1 kid. They work and pay rent
another 3 are in 2 bed flats with 2 kids, one works one doesn't

They have been on the list from 2 to 5 years.

The local council moved immigrants onto one estate made up of maisonettes and 2 high rise blocks as one of the blocks was used as temporary accommodation. The council then decided to knock the whole area down as it is now a no go area. All the locals have moved on and the elderly who are left are terrified. My mam does elderly house calls on the said estate and has to get someone to come round with her as she is scared.

The people who are left and mainly immigrants are now on priority housing. If a house comes up in the area they want they get it with moving costs and 4K. 5 new eco friendly houses were built on my estate. Did my friends get them who are living in cramped condition and had been on the list for years, no. Because they were not at the top of the list or priority.

Am i racist no, am i pissed off for my friends yes

Fifis25StottieCakes · 19/10/2011 21:49

no im not but ive got a very irish surname so you probably think i am

Blueberties · 19/10/2011 21:51

I don't know your surname.

Haggyoldclothbatspus · 19/10/2011 21:52

So calling people right wing gypsy haters and accusing them of frothing at the mouth isnt abusive then Glasnost?

No it's not Haggy. They're statements of fact. Now I really must go back to swanning around my Tuscan farmhouse. Toodlepip!

BetsyBoop · 19/10/2011 21:58

can't believe some people are still quoting the 90% vs 20% as a cast iron fact of prejudice, and still refusing to accept they are comparing apples and pears... Hmm

Interestingly I was half listening to a programme on radio 4 recently about the housing shortage and some poor developer whinging on talking about how hard it is to get PP for new development for housing.

However the figures he quoted were that only about 70% of PP for new development get approved - "that's not too bad" said the presenter - "yes" said the developer "but we only progress about a third of potential sites as far as an actual planning application, as following discussions with planners/council the rest of what we think are reasonable sites for development don't stand a chance of being approved".

So in reality only about 70% of a third = roughly 23% of initial potential sites` for new development get approval in the end, so actually not that different really...

bubbles4 · 19/10/2011 21:59

glasnost,I got deleted as well for telling a poster that she had made a racist accuation.

MrsCog · 19/10/2011 21:59

I think sense has prevailed. The travellers on that site have been offered local housing and also given the addresses of travellers sites that have vacancies. I don't know what else the council can do, but I know that if I put a property up in the green belt, I'd be dealt with very quickly by the authourities.

glasnost · 19/10/2011 22:04

Really bubbles4?? MN is getting to be quite a rightwing think tank, isn't it? Any connection with fact Justine MN founder's always at Downing St soirees?

It's come to this on here: you make racist comments, you're allowed to post whereas you accuse someone of bigotry/racism you ger deleted. How's that for upside down Orwellian illogic for you? We're living in strange times.

Haggyoldclothbatspus · 19/10/2011 22:08

"No it's not Haggy. They're statements of fact. Now I really must go back to swanning around my Tuscan farmhouse. Toodlepip!"
Thats funny, because when I was here this morning, there was only one person frothing at the mouth, and that was you!
I also dont hate gypsies. Just people who break the law.

glasnost · 19/10/2011 22:09

Is that an invite 2old2beamum?

BTW she made a reference to a quite awful poster's comment upthread (Jodieharsh or some such) that thought she knew me from east london dinner parties where I was a "fucking bore". THAT's the calibre of these people's comments. I found her comment highly offensive but never crossed my mind to go bleating to MN towers to get it deleted. Guess that's the difference between us democratic types and the rest.

Goodnight to the few humane posters on here.

The definition of right wing according to Wiki for Glasnost:
In politics, Right, right-wing and rightist generally refer to support for a hierarchical society justified on the basis of an appeal to natural law or tradition.

glasnost · 19/10/2011 22:16

Apology required from whoever reported 2old2beamum. Come on out yourselves. You got it hugely wrong.
