OK. this whole 90% rejection argument is really starting to bug me now.
Its a flawed argument. I read the local papers, check out the local planning department website. The majority of normal peoples planning applications are for extensions, sheds, knockdown and rebuilds, carports and infills.
Now I havent seen many Traveller applications, but lets assume that they are mainly to develop farmland/greenbelt land, things like that. Serious change of use.
Now we all have a fairly good grasp of planning laws. The first example, is of things which are generally within or fairly close to the boundaries of planning regulations. The second is totally without those boundaries. Its not persecution. Its planning.
As for the comments about Orthodox Jews not being persecuted, maybe that is because they live within the laws of this country. Ethnic Minority or not, laws are laws.
If ethnic minorities dont have to live within the laws of this country, whats to stop forced marriage, female circumsision, or even people exercising Sharia Law here in the UK.
As for the comment upthread, something like 'Good on them for not allowing themselves to be forced into a sewer estate'.
Yes, thats great, BUT, if they need to be housed, then, just like other people who need a home, and are forced to live in these places, they need to suck it up and accept the fact. A roof is a roof when you are desperate.
I myself lived on a sink hole estate. I grew up in a quiet country village, and found it unacceptable. But I needed a house, so I put up with it.
You cant play the homeless card and then turn down housing.
