Ok?
Who do you think did it? Bearing in mind what you saw on the news?

OP posts:
pagwatch · 30/12/2010 20:45

I am taking my sorry snotty arse off to bed all...
Night all.

Flightattendant29 · 30/12/2010 20:46

I imagine if they were on a jury they would think a little more carefully about the other factors in the case.

As it is, it's fairly easy to think everyone interviewed in conncetion with a murder case looks a bit dodgy for one reason or another.

The human mind is driven to solve puzzles...jigsaws, sudoku, crosswords. Detective stories.

It's instinctive to want to piece together what little we know in order to form a cohesive picture.

It's how we learn to protect ourselves - by recognising signs that someone is a threat.

It's very easy to get wrong.

Flightattendant29 · 30/12/2010 20:47

Goodnight, Paggy...sleep well pet.

CottageFrog · 30/12/2010 21:59

Haven't read all the last hour or so's posts, but surely this would be better placed in 'off the beaten track'. That way it would not come up in searches.

Feenie · 30/12/2010 22:01

What searches though? Confused

SpringHeeledJack · 30/12/2010 22:31

Frog putting all the speculative threads into OTBC is a really good idea, imo

that way the Marples can do their worst without upsetting anyone close to the case

nightmareafterchristmas · 30/12/2010 22:41

silly idea
what will you suggest
all threads that you deem wrong are hidden away.
just hide them

SpringHeeledJack · 30/12/2010 22:56

nah. Just ones (not this particular one, btw) speculating on murders and disappearances that are ultra pointless yet horribly upsetting to everyone close to the people involved

TwoIfBySea · 30/12/2010 23:23

Do you all tut loudly at the mere thought of some people being curious about such things?

Good job you are all above it then isn't it. Go and have a good laugh at all the little bottom-dwellers scurrying around and discussing a news item.

Heaven forbid you actually took the option to ignore the thread and have some dignity.

CottageFrog · 30/12/2010 23:31

No loud tutting here - but obviously some people are more sensitive than others, and to put the threads where they do not appear in active convos, would be a good idea, imho.

Feenie · 30/12/2010 23:32

I would be happy to ignore the tittle tattle. But when it descends into accusing fanily members directly for being 'creepy', or acting as if a questioned suspect is already guilty, or linked to other murders, or directly upsets someone already affected badly by the murder of their family, and who says it upsets her, then I get upset too.

And that's undignified? Jeez.

Vile thread.

Why is it still here?

What are all you people doing posting on it?

I personally don't approve of people making jokes on the back of a rl murder so I personally think this thread should go. And incase you hadn't noticed, I personally am in charge of Mumsnet now.

Get it deleted forthwith!!!!!!!!

Feenie · 30/12/2010 23:37

The jokes are on the back of the knitting gawpers, bibbity - save your frenzy for them.

CottageFrog · 30/12/2010 23:37

A bit about 'Off The Beaten Track' for those not sure where to find it.

This topic is designed for conversations of a private, sensitive or top secret nature. Discussions here will not be visible to search engines and will be removed from the archive after 30 days (from the date of the OP). They will also be excluded from Active discussions.

Desiderata · 30/12/2010 23:38

What a crock of shit.

Look! The only reason Agatha Christie remains one of the best selling authors of all time is because we all want to solve a murder mystery. But much like killing pigs and eating bacon, it is a fact of human existence. We don't love ourselves for it, but we do it anyway.

I think it's OK to discuss the case. It's not OK when women start bitching amongst themselves. That way leads to the inevitable conclusion that murdering someone is understandable, because the anger words invoke can be turned into real life scenarios.

Meanwhile, at least three black kids got killed in London yesterday, but no one gives a shit.

ValiumTinselton · 30/12/2010 23:38

and your needles are clacking away on this thread too Feenie!!

Feenie · 30/12/2010 23:40

Uh-huh Biscuit

This thread is one of the reasons I barely post on MN anymore.

It's full of self righteous people who feel they have the right to deem what can and can not be talked about. Accusing people of rubber necking and clacking the knitting needles pretending they are better than everyone else.

It pisses me right off it does.

pagwatch · 31/12/2010 10:10

Actually my primary concern was the labelling guilty by appearance which tipped into being a sensible discussion at times. Did you see my post to you dr. I was interested to see what your thoughts were.

Feenie · 31/12/2010 10:23

And my primary concern was the outrageous comments posted about her poor father and the boyfriend - if that makes me self-righteous then fine.

I think you've only read half the story, DrN.

donnie · 31/12/2010 10:42

what Drnortherner said. I can barely be bothered to visit Mn any more because of dimwitted prurient threads like this.

pagwatch · 31/12/2010 11:02

Umm Donnie
Haven't you just posted clack clack clack on the thread that this one is a (probably misguided) retort to.

Genuine question. You seem to be straddling a fence a bit... Smile
