Ok?
Who do you think did it? Bearing in mind what you saw on the news?

OP posts:
Goblinchild · 30/12/2010 18:39

Silence makes the bullies think no one objects. I'm more of a scream and bite them in the bum type.
Not being very tall.

DrNortherner · 30/12/2010 18:41

This thread is gross.

So what if people are speculating over who did it? That does not mean that people are not sorry/upset/thinking about JY and her family.

Not speculating won't change it.

pagwatch · 30/12/2010 18:43

I see kids looking at ds2 goblin, and they are a bit open- mouthed.
I have always assumed that their mums are discreetly saying to them ' that boy/ young man has special needs and although he looks different he is just a boy so try not to stare or be concerned.

Judging by some of the comments on here a decent chunk are saying the opposite.
It is quite shocking to me.
Have I been naive?

Unwind · 30/12/2010 18:43

What DrN said

I can't see why this thread title is so bad, imo the aibu one is worse,
maybe the miss marples want to be treated seriously......

pag and GC at least dd bing in a wheelchair has it's advantages I can just run the pratts over

Goblinchild · 30/12/2010 18:51

Well pag, currently my DS looks like a were bear, big and powerful and hairy.
Most people don't gawk and point anymore because they are scared that he doesn't smile much, that he walks fast and looks dangerous to approach. He also has a few odd stims that look as if he's casting spells and can stop and stare at something interesting for a long while.
So not vulnerable to an individual threat, but a pack would not be good.

Unwind · 30/12/2010 18:55

I've not even been on the other threads - horrible tragedies happen, people want to discuss them, make sense of them. Some people say things which are distasteful, you can request to have them deleted if you like.

Trying to turn in to self appointed moderators and start flame wars against any posters who offend your sensibilities is disrespectful to those who have gone and those who are grieving. There are plenty of heavily moderated forums out there.

nightmareafterchristmas · 30/12/2010 18:57

surely doing a miss marple and discussing the case in minute detail is more disrespectful than having a bash at people who find someone guilty because the look "odd"

pagwatch · 30/12/2010 18:59

Flaming and moderating?

Where?

Goblinchild · 30/12/2010 19:00

Not seeking moderation, I want to challenge the prejudiced. Not dust it under a carpet.
Just posting an alternative viewpoint, isn't that the glory of an unmoderated forum?

pagwatch · 30/12/2010 19:02

I am mocking those who feel in their water that shifty looking bloke = guilty of murder.

You are here telling me that I shouldn't do that. You haven't bothered to deal with any of the reasons why ?

Who is flaming and moderating..

ChickensAreFlyingUnderTheRadar · 30/12/2010 19:03

Agreed nightmare. This thread is not treating a tragedy as an episode of 'Eastenders'.

Flightattendant29 · 30/12/2010 19:08

Unwind, I can see what you mean.

There was a lot of attacking of individuals who posted about the case as they saw it, lots of name calling and mocking.

I didn't see anyone actually calling Feenie 'stupid', for example, and yet she decided to say I was, which hurt.

You can object to different opinions without aggression.

Feenie · 30/12/2010 19:08

MN is a self moderating forum - that's what the report buttons are for.

DrNortherner · 30/12/2010 19:10

FGS. Some people just look shifty. Some people ARE shifty. Lots of arrests have happened after police have gathered enough evidence after first finding someone shifty.

After Peter Sutcliffe was interviewed by police time and time again, he was finally arrested for a completely unrelated offence. The police man arrested him though he was shifty and went back to the spot he had allowed him to pee, an he had dumbed his murder weopens there.

Comparing this to mocking kids with SN is simply a massive over reaction.

DrNortherner · 30/12/2010 19:10

Apologies fro typing in last post. I am rushing as always!

Flightattendant29 · 30/12/2010 19:12

I don't see any evidence of SN with regard to the case at hand.

Eccentricity doesn't always mean someone has SN. It also doesn't always mean they are capable of murder.

However someone capable of murder is likely to display certain aspects of an unorthodox character because to murder is unorthodox.

MummieHunnie · 30/12/2010 19:13

Northerner, on which thread are people comparing the ll to sn kids?

Goblinchild · 30/12/2010 19:15

Mocking kids with sn?
My baby is almost 6' 10 stone and fit, is 16 looks in his 20s.
Not exactly a cuddly little poppet to anyone but his mother, and exactly the sort of shifty appearing weirdo who might get reported by a hysterical mother in the park or battered by her alpha male partner.

MummieHunnie · 30/12/2010 19:17

What a strange thing to do, I always find people odd who have a go at dyslexics for poor spelling also!

pagwatch · 30/12/2010 19:17

But dr that just illustrates the essential difference of opinion.

You think saying so and so is shifty look g and then speculating about his guilt is fine.

I think it is hideous and stupid.

You think this thread is terrible and worrying about judgement/assumptions made about appearance is an over reaction

I think it is reasonable to be alarmed.

Goblinchild · 30/12/2010 19:20

That's because you and I have the same glasses on pag, and they aren't rose-tinted.
We know how dangerous the world can be for those who are perceived as different, and how vicious a pack can be once they've made their mind up.

pagwatch · 30/12/2010 19:21

Flight.
The point is not whether the person being speculated about has sn or not.

The point is that when you ascribe guilt based on someones appearance you are being judgemental and prejudicial. Because appearance usually has nothi g to do with it.

Assuming that one can spot a murderer or a pedophile or whatever from appearances is really foolish yet people still think they can do it.

Lamorna · 30/12/2010 19:21

I think that people get confused with 'soaps', there is nothing wrong in having speculation over stories but it is very unpleasant when it is real lives.
