FFS, pointing out the political message put across by the photo, when currently 3% of all babies in the UK are breastfed by the age of 5 months, is not being bitchy. It is not about having a go at women who can't breastfeed. It is about the huge lack of funding and support in hospitals for women who want to breastfeed but because of lack of support and the right advice, don't. And it is about the huge irony in DC making cuts that will affect women and children the most posing this way.

How do you know that one bottle of formula means Florence isn't breastfed the rest of the time. Maybe SamCam didn't fancy breastfeeding while surrounded by photographers, I know I wouldn't. Her boobs, her baby, her business !

And fwiw my ds was hospitalized at 14 months for a gastro bug despite being breastfed and never having had formula!

Don't care how they feed her. Do wonder why they think we are so gullible that a picture of him feeding the baby will make furious families everywhere think 'oh he isn't really targetting families' or 'oh actually that Child benefit cut is fair after all'.

The word 'candid' should be nowhere NEAR those photos. They are the most staged photos I have EVER seen.

Miasma, where did I suggest that bf babies don't get hospitalised? There is ample evidence from the UK that ff babies under the age of 6 months old are 5 times more likely to be hospitalised than their breastfeeding peers.

This really pisses me off, when I was pregnant with dd I was so sure I was going to breastfeed I didnt buy bottles, a sterilizer, milk, nada.

For some reason my milk didnt come through, it just didnt happen, no explanation for it I was dry as a bone.

The nurses had to give us some bottles of milk so we could take dd home.(christmas Baby)

I was devastated, and would have felt even worse if i'd had some idiot rambling on about breastfeeding, just to make me feel that little bit worse

I succesfully fed ds for the first yr, no problems.

And if she has chosen to bottle feed because she has other children to deal with then that's her business!

You know nothing about this woman, her body, her mental state, her personal preferences about breast feeding, her ability to do so, her previous experiences. Nothing at all.

There are plenty of people with a good deal more money than her probably doing a much worse job of raising their children, so how much money she has is irrelevant, and her capabilities as a mother are none of your business anyway.
