Has anyone seen the young Tories in the crowd/being interviewed?

I thought William Hague at 16 was bad

The greatest peace time prime minister - Margaret Thatcher

Oh. dear.

What have we let ourselves in for

He keeps talking about winning the election

I thought no-one won

But then I do live in a parallel universe it seems

we're clapping Harry (96) now.

Or not, as the case may be.

Ewe · 06/10/2010 14:52

No, no, HE lives in a parallel universe, you're in the right one.

Young tories are hideous, met tonnes of them whilst up in Birmingham and they are all a horrible mix of naive, privileged, spoilt and ridiculously right wing.

LadyBlaBlah · 06/10/2010 14:53

God this is dull

'Do the right thing" - ChECK

"Strong and stable government" CHECK

Just waiting for the first "difficult decisions"

ah - that explains it then Angry

LadyBlaBlah · 06/10/2010 14:55

LOL @ "leave the vested interest for elsewhere"

LadyBlaBlah · 06/10/2010 14:56

Be fair though... most people on MN wouldn't enjoy Cameron's speech even if he was giving away a hatchback and ten grand in cash to anyone for being female.

notwavingjustironing · 06/10/2010 14:58

that was a big long list of "stuff"

It's like the tray game, take one away and see who notices Grin

fizzledrizzle · 06/10/2010 15:01

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

LadyBlaBlah · 06/10/2010 15:01

I think that is unfair Chil. It just seems all the Tory girls have been very quiet in the past few days

Weird Smile

OP posts:
fizzledrizzle · 06/10/2010 15:01

CB is the elephant in the room is it Dave?

Ronaldinhio · 06/10/2010 15:03

agree with today's Guardian
the child benefit cuts are just a smokescreen for the cuts to hit the poor to be announced at a later date
now we will get loads of "we are all in it together guff" that is all a smokescreen to hide a return to typical tory policy

now that right thinking guardian readers and mumsnetters are up in arms about their loss in benefits the future cuts will seem fairer and more palatable

how very clever

Ewe · 06/10/2010 15:03

Chil the Mumsnet census has a perfectly equal split between the three main parties so erm, you're wrong. At least a third of Mumsnet should be enjoying this.

They are probably just a little bit embarrassed to come out as tories, it's quite a serious affliction Wink

On a more serious note, FWIW, I have enjoyed several of his speeches in the past. Just don't think this one is particularly good, and why would it be? He is performing to his grassroots now, not the country. He has his term secured, he doesn't have to pay lip service to the masses anymore.

VivaLeBeaver · 06/10/2010 15:04

Would Thatcher be counted as a peace time prime minister. What about the Falklands? Or is it ok as the Falklands weren't on the whole time she was?

fizzledrizzle · 06/10/2010 15:06

pr week take on it?

And Dave how offensive is the phrase "sitting on the sofa until the benefits come through" Tory, through and through!

LadyBlaBlah · 06/10/2010 15:08

He is still going on about this Big Society offering. Despite the fact everyone thinks it is shit.

OP posts:
fizzledrizzle · 06/10/2010 15:08

OMG regarding the tooth fairy money.

....take what money you can from children Dave.

LadyBlaBlah · 06/10/2010 15:09

He forgot to mention the flat screen and Jeremy Kyle

OP posts:
Chil1234 · 06/10/2010 15:09

I'm enjoying the speech. :)

Ronaldinhio · 06/10/2010 15:10

it must be completely impossible for him to empathise on any level
that is what completely chills me

LadyBlaBlah · 06/10/2010 15:12

That tooth fairy gag, not only is total shit and made up, was totally cringeworthy

Especially topped off with a sneer from fat george
