Has anyone seen the young Tories in the crowd/being interviewed?

I thought William Hague at 16 was bad

our employment obligations are already lax

this is nonsense

fizzledrizzle · 06/10/2010 16:08

Yes the UK has probably the most flexible labour market in Europe.

BooBooGlass · 06/10/2010 16:09

Claig, all youa re doing is spouting rhetoric. WHat are his policies, what will his actions be? Enough 'he will make everything better' bullshit

claig · 06/10/2010 16:11

you're right employment law is not my strong point. But, I believe that they will quite probably change the law to make it even more favourable for employers, and I am not against this, since I don't think there is an alternative. I think we will all see a reduction in our benefits and our rights, until they are able to return us to financial health.

claig · 06/10/2010 16:13

He hasn't told me what he is going to do, so I don't know. All I am saying is what I think he will do, based on the fact that they are the party of business.

LadyBlaBlah · 06/10/2010 16:14

IME Business owners tend to spout this "suffocating" line when they want an excuse for being misogynistic /racist/ superiority complex ridden pigs

Complaining about maternity pay

Complaining about not being able to advertise for "good looking blond with big tits"

Complaining about having to pay their fair share of tax

Complaining about having to interview people from the wrong side of town

Suffocating isn't it?

OP posts:
BooBooGlass · 06/10/2010 16:14

The party of business?
Right you are

fizzledrizzle · 06/10/2010 16:16

Yes it always make me laugh when employers complain about statutory payments when they can claim so much back - for example with statutory maternity pay they can claim a large chunk of it back.

You can normally get free help when making people redundant.

claig · 06/10/2010 16:17

"IME Business owners tend to spout this "suffocating" line when they want an excuse for being misogynistic /racist/ superiority complex ridden pigs"

that is also what the socialist thought. I think it is wrong. Business people want to make a profit as a reward for teh risks that they take. I don't think that they are pigs, they are the people who pay our wages in the private sector. We need them to be more successful so that we can also be more successful. The Tories don't think they are pigs, they recognise that they are vital to employ the rest of us and increase our standard of living.

fizzledrizzle · 06/10/2010 16:17

Anyone notice how much money was raised with the bonus tax, wasn't it 3.5 billion for one year, a drop in the ocean for the banks? It must be hard for them to do business.

Ronaldinhio · 06/10/2010 16:18

claig you sound like a disciple...

whomovedmychocolate · 06/10/2010 16:19

Well I enjoyed it - I'm hoping next time it'll be Rapunzel though, I'm a tad tired of the current fairy story. Wink

nearlytoolate · 06/10/2010 16:19

claig I'm sorry but you sound like you've swallowed some kind of Cameron love potion that has reomoved your critical faculties. Your rhetoric sounds vaguely like some kind of 'bright new day' propaganda that would not be out of place in a totalitarian (dare I say communist) state. How ironic.

claig · 06/10/2010 16:19

"The party of business?
Right you are"

do you think Labour are the party of business? Ask the CBI what they think. This anti-business anti-capitalist philosophy is at the heart of socialism, which is why they hardly ever produce a successful economic environment

GabbyLoggon · 06/10/2010 16:22

Dave Cam.eron a smoothie salesman, would never sell to me

claig · 06/10/2010 16:23

I think it really is a brighter new day. To me, what they say makes sense. I loved heraing Theresa May saying that she would prioritise anti-social behaviour as being somthing that the police should treat seriously. I think Give is fantatsic on education. I think the Tories are right on business and the economy. To me, the gloom and ideologicla errors of socialism have been lifted and we really can see a way out of it.

fizzledrizzle · 06/10/2010 16:25

Theresa May - I shake my head.

I saw her interviewed about the Made in Dagenham film and she came across awfully, it took a great deal of prodding for her to acknowledge what they women had done.

claig · 06/10/2010 16:26

"Dave Cam.eron a smoothie salesman, would never sell to me"

but Gabby, you bought what Brown and Blair said. You probably still believe they were right, even after all that has happened

claig · 06/10/2010 16:28

I like Theresa May, I think she is good. Yes she didn't want to support strikes , that is all, but we know what politicians are like. We can forgive them their minor mistakes, it is the major mistakes taht we can't forgive, which is why I can't forgive the progressives.

LadyBlaBlah · 06/10/2010 16:31

Did you see Theresa with Paxman last night

I would recommend an iPlayer visit if not

And back to the Pig argument above

The pursuit of profit should not give you the right to ride roughshod over everyone. The only thing that actually works long term in business is Integrity

Like real integrity. Not treating people like shit. Not putting profit over safety for example.

OP posts:
noddyholder · 06/10/2010 16:31

He is putting the final nail in the tory coffin Bring it on!

TheCrackFox · 06/10/2010 16:35

I saw Theresa on Paxman last night. Sheez. They wheeled in the token woman to "explain" why women and children are getting shafted to to pay off the national debt. She didn't actually answer any question, but I guess all politicians are guilty of that one.

claig · 06/10/2010 16:42

I only caught the last half of Theresa last night, and I thought she was magnificent as ever, very polite in the face of somebody shouting at her from the audience about prisoners having it too easy. I think she knew what a fool he was, but was too polite to tell him. I think she has got integrity and is motivated to do the right thing. That's good enough for me, the last lot had neither of those things.

"The pursuit of profit should not give you the right to ride roughshod over everyone"

I don't think that most of the employers in this country are like that. I think this is socialist rhetoric, the kind whipped up by Lenin, and is really designed to harm relations between employers and employees. I believe we are all in this together, employers and employees. I believe people running small businesses are not vampires trying to suck the blood out of their employees. I think we need to support them and their businesses, because that is what employs us all. The socialists were able to sneer at private enterprise because they created a huge state sector, but as ever, they ran out of money to pay for it. So now we will rely on what they call "capitalist pigs" to pull us out of it.

noddyholder · 06/10/2010 16:43

Claig you are joking innit?Grin

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 06/10/2010 16:45

'Theresa was magnificent'...reminds me a bit of the diary of Adrian Mole....
