I thought we should leave her as she is desperate to catch up on some sleep, but DH thought we should wake her up. So we woke her up but she was quite naughty again. Going to be a late one again tonight. Think i will give her some pasta or something about 5pm, so at least she has eaten. DH just doesn't get it as he doesn't have to spend all day with her.

Feeling really stressed about the state of our house at the moment. It literally seems never ending. I can't throw myself into like i used to be able to because i get so bloody knackered. What can i do? Suggestions on a postcard please.....

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 30/06/2010 17:35

Alice - can you afford a cleaner for a few months while you are really pg and while you've got a newborn as well as DD? We got one when I was about 20 weeks with DS because my SPD was so bad I couldn't hoover or carry anything, and I think we kept them until DS was about 4 months old. We will definitely do that same again next time.

Er so I didn't exactly manage a list today, or to do much of anything tbh . Been really sleepy all day. Have done all the essentials though and popped in for a chat with wc's nan so feel like I've done something!

Ironing pile is looking at me but really can't face it.

JustKeepSwimming · 30/06/2010 17:49

Alice - i agree with the cleaner idea, otherwise trying to make a mental shift about what really matters at the moment. Hard to do i know, but some stuff really doesn't matter when you've got other priorities.
When life calms down a bit (and it does, even with 2!) you can sort pick things back up as you find the energy.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 30/06/2010 18:01

Er no idea alice sorry...when ds was tiny I didn't managed to get anything done, if we were fed real food and I'd done the washing up it was a real accomplishment

If the cleaner isn't an option and your dh is usually open to being helpful then I would suggest just doing the real basics eg up, dressed and fed, washing up and a load of washing as well as clearing up any toddler spillages etc as and when they occur every day and then getting him to do the rest for a few months so on a weekend he can clean the bathroom/kitchen and do the floors for you. Anything else can probably be put off until your ds is a couple of months old. Hard though esp as your dh works irregular hours and has a physical job...

minimammoth · 30/06/2010 18:57

Lovely to hear about all the acheivements of everybodies DCs.
Alice I agree with cleaner idea, if you can affordit/can find one.

Perhaps we should issue everyone with Doom hazard tape and cones. So that areas can be isolated. My office should definately only be entered with protective clothing. Also veg basket needs tackling, and is probably a bio- hazard. [ashamed face]

PlumBumMum · 30/06/2010 19:29

Hi All

Well dcs are on holidays, and already fighting
dd1 is doing work printed off the computer

Mini hand over hazardous tape, hmm...... actually just tape over front gate and stick a sign in garden enter at own risk

Iam going to get stuck in tonight & tomorrow, then finish wedding figures & start on caravan

Pushes everyone up a little to make room on thread for big list

Alice I think if you feel that way sometimes you can't worry about cost, I made sure I put a wash on everyday and put it in tumble drier and away, bought loads of cleaning wipes put 1 in nearly everyroom and if I was in that room gave it a wipe round, actually come to think of it my house might have looked cleaner

RainbowDrops · 30/06/2010 20:31

Can't be bothered to copy and paste my list!! And the exercise can take a run and jump for all I care at the momment, I always get like this when AF is on her way.

The hairdressers I have the appointment at charge £31, whereas the hairdressers a mile away charge £26, I think I will go for the £26, then the spare £5 can be for a coffee and a cake salad after

Alice I know exactly what you mean about the housework getting difficult towards the end of pregnancy, I used to get so frustrated. I think you need to decide which things bother you the most when they are not done, and focus on them with plenty of breaks inbetween and stuff the rest, take up every offer of help (wish I'd done this), I like the cleaner idea too.

Right, I'm off to curl up with a good book.

Night, night all

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 30/06/2010 20:37

Mini - top tip. Put on rubber gloves. Get large bin bag. Place entire veg basket in bin bag. Place bin bag in bin. Mop down area where veg basket used to stand. Buy new veg basket and veg. Keep an eye on veg at all times to check not becoming bio-hazard.

Am too tired to write list. DD saw health visitor today and she is doing well. Weighs 15 pounds now and is fine on all the charts.

Tidy kitchen a bit

wastingaway · 01/07/2010 07:43

Morning!

Mini, I used to have v. biohazardous veg when I got a vegbox, hardly ever got used.

Alice, simplifying is key I think. Agree with cleaning wipes.
Keeping the place tidy so that is' easy for DH to do the bulk of the cleaning.
Could you get DD her own apron and duster?
How's your storage? The easier it is to tidy up, the easier it is to clean I think.

Morning

Sorry for moaning yesterday. Feeling brighter today. DH and i did some bigger jobs last night that i put off during the day because i am too hot/difficult with DD's help.

I have always been a morning person, but with not sleeping as well and it being hot, i am finding the mornings hard and the evenings much easier.

One job i hate, and i now find difficult is picking up DD's toys. It is bend and stretch, bend and stretch and i can't do it, so asked DH to tidy sitting room last night while i made his chocolate bomb to take to his friends. I then tidied and swept and mopped the kitchen, which has made a huge difference. So now, my bathroom is tidy and clean, my kitchen is tidy (as much as it ever is!) and clean and my sitting room is tidy.
