Welcome to the new thread everyone

All newbies and lapsed members welcome!

Need a kick up the bum or a shoulder to cry on, this could be the thread for you.

OP posts:
Ipom · 08/07/2010 18:20

He did explain and its far too complicated to explain on here why he did what he did. The fall out has been a real eye opener too. Now I know who our friends are and that turns out to be 4 out of everyone we know.

The kids are ok-ish. The tantrums have got worse and that is to be expected. Daniel has taken it the hardest and I knew he would. He doesnt cry but he has reverted to acting like a 2 year old again.

Sorted out Income Support the other day and she said that, she can see I didnt want to be there and didnt want to claim, but she understood that I needed to be with the kids through the holidays as a) they need me right now and b) I cant afford the childcare. I said to her if this had happened a while ago I would have had time to save up for the child care and found somewhere, but with 3 weeks until they break up, it's too short notice.

I hated explaining it to her as everything I was saying sounded to me like a really pathetic excuse. The second they are back at school I'm getting the hell off this and I'm back at work. How the hell people can live like this I have no idea. If you have no choice then fair enough, but you know what I mean.

JKS, I'm sorry that you have had a bad day. It's annoying when people say that your children should be doing this that and whatever at a certain age. It annoys the hell out of me. I cried when the first teacher told me he was hard work and was useless at everything and for that entire year during reception i had to pick him up at lunch because she couldnt be bothered with him. Now he is a year behind everyone else all because she wants an easy life and think kids should be mini adults and do as they say when they are told to. He's been fine with the other teachers he's had. Even the school admitted he wasnt delt with in the right way during reception.

I will not even look at that teacher now. Nevermind talk to her. Every year she picks on one kid and those parents have a year of hell.

Freak - Bloody hell, what an arse. Sounds as though you are well shot of him. Piss him off completly and get another phone, or get a sim card PAYG for now for your network. It's only a tenner but it's one less thing for him to hold against you. He sounds like a bit of a control freak and lazy.

Ipom · 08/07/2010 18:23

Mini - do a raspberry and apple crumle.

Thats something else knocked off the list.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 08/07/2010 18:34

Ipom - that is very brave of you to open communication and even be thinking about putting your trust in him again. I really really hope that it works out for you.

JKS - at the gowns etc!
That is really harsh about DS2, you would think people would learn to be a bit sensitive in that line of work. Just try and hold on to how much you know he has improved over the last few months. (((hugs)))

Freak - he sounds disgusting, thank goodness you saw the light and got out of there!

Will post a list in a minute, we are celebrating DH's new job today because all the paperwork came through There are bubbles in the fridge and DH has gone to Sainsbury's with DS to get steak and chocolate puddings I am having 5 minutes peace and quiet.

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 08/07/2010 18:39

Mini - the secret to the sparkliness (sp???) was that last night I was bloody pissed off about the whole wedding/brother/bridezilla thing so I took my anger out on the kitchen. Having done that it actually only took me 45 mins to tidy/hoover/dust/polish the rest of downstairs. It already looks a mess again - grass and sand and toys everywhere

OP posts:
Ipom · 08/07/2010 18:45

Thanks Ali - This is his second and final chance and he knows it. I have to work on my own issues in the relationship as I havent been perfect either. As long as we both make the effort and try to continue to do so. We should be fine.

He knows what I want from him and I know what he wants from me and none of it is unreasonable.

I love those days where you clean when pissed off - everything gets done like magic as it takes so little time.

Today

Cleaned and swapped my wardrobe with The Sparks
Cooked
Pots
Washed 2 loads
Drying 2 loads - ongoing
kids washed - done
in bed - in 20 minutes and counting

Tomorrow
Get off my arse and clean the house that I havent done for a week.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 08/07/2010 19:22

House is now a filth pit again, been out and about rather than cleaning (I think it may be the peacock effect of ovulating, have noticed when I am ovulating I feel the need to be out of the house -attracting-- a mate).

Probably nothing a tidy and hoover won't sort though...

Fit man count (I have stolen mini's moth count for my own purposes!): 1 but he is a preschool dad so let's not go there

Good news about the job paperwork ali, have fn celebrating.

Ipom I was trying to get a new phone so I could be on a network where I actually had signal rather than the network he wanted me to be on but I really don't want to have to change my number if I can avoid it.

And yes the IS thing is shit but I keep telling myself that at least I have a plan to get back to work by a certain point, even if it isn't immediate.

RainbowDrops · 08/07/2010 19:22

JustKeepSwimming · 08/07/2010 20:12

Rainbow - ditto !! (esp when ttc....!)

Ipom - i hope it works out for you both i really do.

The assessment thing peed me off, really she should have started at the bottom and worked up but she tried to start somewhere around a normal 2 year old level then had to backtrack. I mean i know he's not developmentally on track, i'm not stooopid!! But he could've been handled better.

I went to different MW and HV's after having bad experiences with both and it made life sooo much better. I also had DD in totally different hospital to DS after crap experience and was so glad I did.

HMHB - normally i might ask for someone else or a repeat test, but i guess overall it doesn't really matter.
If next time he appears to have 'shot up' in some areas when i know he could do stuff now it doesn't matter. It's more just to check he is still moving forward which he is. But i cannot accept that his hand-eye coordination is that of a 7month old to be quite frank, think she is nuts

Morning

Ipom have only vaguely been aware of the situation with your Dh, but is it possible that he is having a midlife crisis? Something i never really believed in, but over the last couple of years people i know have gone through serious blips when the DH starts acting completely out of character. Lasts a couple of months, then they act normal again. Unfortunately the damage has already been done and it takes a while to pick up the pieces. You sound very much in control and strong. I hope all goes well for you and your family.

JKS at stupid assessment people.

Fab day yesterday, sunburnt but a really good day. Was lovely to spend time with family, but minus the kids iyswim?

Should have a list really, but will probably come back once i have done some stuff.

Hi Alice - it makes a lot of sense if it is a midlife cisis. It's surprising though as I could swear he hasnt grown out of puberty at times. He's 46 so it could well be, and there was me thinking I was his midlife crisis.

Ipom even though i am only in my 20's, i know a lot of people in their late 30's/40's (some are my parent's friends, some are DH's friends) and it is quite shocking how many of them have have 'moments' I think women are excused because of hormones, but men have this sudden feeling of "Shit, i am getting old, no i am not, i'll show them i am still young and cool etc" My dad was a bit the same. Sorry if i am not explaining it very well

Anyway, Bathroom fitter been and gone, brought me flowers! Has measured up the kitchen too, so should get a quote soon.
