There's no fooling an April fledgling flyer

Welcome to the April edition of the fledgling flyers where shower screens are shiny and rain never stops play.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on April 1st (no joke), but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

Splish, splash, swish and swash along to reserve your place...

MrsDinky · 29/04/2010 10:10

Morning,

Well, I think life's too short too fold a thong, but I might have a go at my t-shirt drawer. Hmmm. I still haven't recovered from that video someone posted a few months ago of how to fold a fitted sheet .

I also spend far more time on MN than FB, vowed never to play games on there because I would get addicted, don't put photos up, just chat really.

Today I am helping at school in the afternoon, playing with DD this morning and going out this evening, so may not get much done. I seem to spend all my spare time at this time of year pottering on the garden, so much more enjoyable than housework.

Stillcounting · 29/04/2010 11:07

Waves to Swanriver who I missed out earlier

LinzerTorte · 29/04/2010 11:29

Have just finished today's (and yesterday's work) so now have about half an hour to rush round like a madwoman finishing my morning routine and doing the mission, ironing, hanging out washing etc etc.

You definitely have the right idea about the games on Facebook MrsD. I unsuspectingly tried out Farmville, quickly became addicted and ended up wasting days if not weeks of my life. Don't go there! Thankfully, the novelty has finally worn off and I have once again rediscovered RL. But if you just use FB for keeping in touch with people and avoid the applications, it's difficult to spend too much time on there. Unlike MN...

swanriver · 29/04/2010 12:32

Finished work
now bin liner full of ironing and some more piano practice - chromatic scale mastery

tonight ds is going to make lamb kofte with me, I am determined to get him cooking again

gardening
homework
park?
research some information books on internet for dcs and order
school dinners pay
approach paperwork pile with caution and do a little bit if nothing else

Nettiespagetti · 29/04/2010 15:24

lol at the "loving room" if you need a bitta loving get hoovering!!

Is addicted to FB as well as MN.Lotsa photos and mundane comments about my life but no games (i would never see the daylight again if i started that)

I am at work been having the most disorganised day (2nd) ever . The whole of the front office is in the back office and customers are not reading my sign so i keep having to run round the house to answer the office door!! I got nothing done and am obviously avoiding cos im here!! Having to share office space with DH, FIL and MIL all too much!!

Aaarraaagghhh!

droitwichmummy Loved the thong folder but if i ever end up doing that well I couldnt even imagine consequences.

My list for this evening

Pick up DC from Nursery
Healthy Snack, Bath and Bed
Gym
Healthy snack, Bath and Bed.
Drying sink. (looks better if dried)

Linzer what is a sachertorte?
OM hope DD went to school ok and DH gets home ok too. Join FB go on you know you want to!!

LinzerTorte · 29/04/2010 15:33

Nettie Sacher Torte is basically just an Austrian chocolate cake (with chocolate icing on top). Very nice but can be quite rich.
Is it you who just sent me a friend request on FB btw? I've accepted as it was obviously a fellow flybaby and I thought it was probably you from the name.

MrsDinky · 29/04/2010 17:07

MrsD pauses for breath....

Today I have done

Morning routine
Hoovered downstairs
Cleaned bathroom - every shelf, bath, basin toilet, electric toothbrush all sparkling
Dusted half of dining room surfaces (other half covered in junk)
Taken a car load of stuff to tip
Washed kitchen and bathroom floors
Wiped entire kitchen worktops moving stuff a la Flylady
Spent the afternoon helping at school
Cleaned all sorts of grotspots in kitchen (plug sockets etc).
Hotspotted the kitchen table and the lounge coffee table
Put lots of dates on calendar
Put wheely bin out
One load of washing done and dried
Played with DD in the sandpit
Overheard DS receiving glowing praise from his TA

Those two were the best bits!

I am stopping now because I have no more clean microfibre cloths and the pasta must be cooked by now.

Got to go, evening routines all need to be done before going out at 7.30, see you later.. (or maybe tomorrow)

MrsDinky · 29/04/2010 18:22

Cooked DCs a meal and they both ate it
Allowed them to make a batch of PAs Chocolate oaty biscuits as a treat
Made DS's packed lunch
Washed up, shined sink, DW on

Just got to put away the washing and get out clothes for tomorrow. Will probably do nothing for the next few days.....

MrsDinky · 29/04/2010 18:39

PA - biscuits are yum, first time we had tried them, thank you!

DidEinsteinsMum · 29/04/2010 18:46

poo, this staying away from the computer... i have failed today and got sucked into a completely unnecessary bun fight. lots of very naughty swear words. going to do bedtime and tackle the laundry as pennance. although pendants and tradionalists might be interested in here wishing all a lovely evening

elliepac · 29/04/2010 20:48

Woah, you lot have been busy today, hard to keep up over the last two days though I did pick up that pa thought I was old and ugly .

Too much marking to get much done but have maintained downstairs though upstairs is slipping into chaos again.

Thank you sc for the offer to back up, linzer has also offered so between us, i am sure we will manage. Should be fine but it is entering busy panic time Year 11 so there may be the odd occasion when I don't manage to post.

nettie thank you for the friend request, 'tis my pleasure .

Off to work on Mount Markmore. Back later.

swanriver · 29/04/2010 22:02

MrsDinky that I find is indeed one of perks of helping in school, finding out that one's kids are [on occasion] angelic charming creatures much revered by staff and pupils alike
how did you fit all those things in today

Nettiespagetti · 29/04/2010 22:06

linzer yes tis me :-) mmm sounds lovely

Wow mrsd that's some flying there girlie! Well done.

I've finished washing up to date!
Filled dw
stopped dh burning house down by setting alight the decking and burning downpipes with massive cig butt mountain.

Off to bed goodnight xx

LinzerTorte · 29/04/2010 22:09

I will join you in having a better day tomorrow (I hope) swan - bedtime was what caused all the problems here too. I was actually doing quite well until this evening, when I subjected the DC to my cooking for the first time in ages. (I have had enough of fussy eaters and have decided to be stricter with them). Well, they did eat it all - but only because I had promised they could watch Peppa Pig in Italian afterwards, it took them ages and DS was sick on his plate. Finally got them ready for bed, only for DH to get home and decide DD1 needed to do some extra school work - so of course the other two wouldn't settle while she was still up and it was nearly 8 pm by the time they were all in bed.

So all in all, a bit of a disastrous evening flying-wise - I felt so fed up because I hadn't got the DC to bed on time that I just gave up after that. And here I am, still up over 1 1/2 hours after my planned bedtime... Back in the morning in a better frame of mind, I hope!

MiniMarmite · 29/04/2010 22:32

Evening Ladies,

Just been watching the leadership debate, can't believe it is actually the election next week.

Hope you have all had a good day, nearly the last day of the week and month!

Well done on still having a shiny sink biddy, you've made a great start .

DWM my sense of reality was somewhat distorted by the thong folding and I'm trying to work out how it would save me time...not that I think I actually own a thong post-childbirth, far too scary .

I had to remind myself that you are an hour ahead when you said you had your second load of washing on by 07:38 Linzertorte, pretty impressive even so! I still have to hang out the load I put on at lunchtime today . Sorry you had a disasterous evening.

I do love the fact that you like watching darts PA - do you play as well?

Pyjama morning sounds wonderful Chairmum SC Masterswipe sounds like a stroke of genius, I will give it a go!

SR I hope DS finds the lamb kofte inspiring

Are you in bed feetheart? Off you go!

Nettie I am very impressed with your office sharing, perhaps you have a degree in diplomacy?!

MrsD that was some day you had there! Well done you .

DEM I am both a pedant and a traditionalist!

How's Mount Markmore (!) going Ellie (definitely not old or ugly).

We're in something of a panic here, we've finally found someone to do our bathroom and they can do it in a couple of weeks time - not frantically trying to order all the things to go in it to arrive in time - nightmare!

Time for bed I think...

Good morning All, welcome to the last day of the month!

Today's babystep is about getting prepared for next month - something I definitely need to do as there are a lot of birthdays in May in my family.

It is the last day in the Loiving Room for decluttering and missions.

Well done on all your flying and supporting each other this month. One more round-up from me tonight and then over to Ellie.

Hello, just popping in to say Hi.

DH back tomorrow which is a huge help as i feel like i am wading through treacle at the moment!

DWM have just looked at the video on clothes folding. That woman has far too much time on her hands. Colour co-ordinating underwear? I ask you!

Evening routine is improving which is great!

Re: pampering babystep; perhaps i really am being told something as the link talks about sorting hair out. My barnet looks like a birds nest most days. I will dust down the straighteners at the weekend.

OM very exciting about rugby! fingers crossed they will win

Waves to all, see you tomorrow somewhen.

DidEinsteinsMum · 29/04/2010 22:57

purple/om is it monday they are playing? got an offer to take ds to a match monday but lincolnshire is a bit far so a bit hmm about it.

PositiveAttitude · 29/04/2010 23:03

Just for you Nettie:

Chocolate oaties:
8oz margarine
8oz Self Raising Flour
8oz Sugar
5oz Oats
3oz Drinking chocolate.

Very simple - Melt margarine, add in everything else, press into tray, cook for 15 mins 190 degrees.

Thank you to MM, I think I typed that this morning, but just in case I didn't I'll do it again.

Now Ellie I did not say you were old and ugly!! I just ....... oh I give up. You are definitely not old and haggard like me!!!!

Today started off as a bit of a disaster after taking DS to the dentist DH and I had a row about a bag of icing sugar! Yes, its probably one of those hormonally stupid, irrational arguements that have men raising their eyebrows, but at the time is was important. Not helped by the fact that after putting the said icing sugar into the mixer, with fume still bellowing from my ears, I slammed the "on" button full blast, only to realise I had forgotten to put the lid on, so we had a snow effect kitchen, which DH thought was absolutley hysterical and I did not know whether to laugh or scream. Ended up doing a bit of both actually.
Rest of day feeling like a bear with a hangover and trying not to get cross with everyone and everything. Time for bed and I will have mellowed by the morning I hope.

"See" you all in the morning.

swanriver · 30/04/2010 09:35

Felt a bit low yesterday - rounded off by an argument with dh about neighbours - who said he couldn't be bothered to be friends with any of them MEN

Children went to school with "crazy ties" as it is crazy tie day. They looked very cheery, and we kept meeting crazier ties as we walked along..I love where we live.
Feeling v. cast down by house, to which I could not invite neighbours even if I wanted to

SO BIG MENTAL EFFORT
tidy kitchen
tidy hall
tidy living room
tidy playroom
plant my geraniums
BUY SOME NEW CLOTHES to impress neighbours

purplewednesday · 30/04/2010 09:39

Morning!

swan love the idea of them all wearing crazy ties!

Don't feel too down, your neighbours are only human.
If you need to buy new clothes to impress them they may not be worth having as friends...

Have finally got the highchair done. I have been procrastinating all week over this.

Off to walk the dog then rushing out to local Tiny Talk class.
Then i might do a spot of flying.....
