There's no fooling an April fledgling flyer

Welcome to the April edition of the fledgling flyers where shower screens are shiny and rain never stops play.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on April 1st (no joke), but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

Splish, splash, swish and swash along to reserve your place...

thank the lord.......wine time

aberita · 01/04/2010 20:54

Evening all,

Not much flying done today as we're still at the ILs, but have lots of good intentions for April. I'm not sure how much I'll manage to get done before the DC go back to school next Wednesday and work looks like it's going to be busy next week too, but I'm going to make a real effort to keep the routines going at least.

Wine time here too - and we've just been out for a lovely Indian meal. Not only was it free (as I'd proofread their English menu for them), they also cooked us a few more portions so we could enjoy another meal at home with the DC.

Hope everyone's April has got off to a flying start.

MiniEggsAndMarmite · 01/04/2010 22:38

Evening Ladies, loving all the new Easter names! Yay, we've arrived at the long weekend...pity about the weather forecast.

MiniEggsAndMarmite · 01/04/2010 22:43

Good morning Everyone,

Today's babystep is the beginning of establishing our morning routines. You can get dressed to shoes or socks or whatever works for you really.

We're in Zone 1, the entrance, front porch and dining room for decluttering and missions for those who have finished the decluttering (or are feeling very keen).

Have a great day with your families today and don't work too hard .

DidEinsteinsMum · 01/04/2010 23:20

right, having slept since 5pm i am now feeling almost human and have a house that needs discovering. Will start in the bedroom and move downstairs later. Will let you know if i find that ellusive hard thing that seems to be supporting the furniture

Only have tonight and tomorrow til early afternoon to get whole house done so going to make the most of it.

MrsDinky · 01/04/2010 23:27

Evening all,

Well, can't remember what I posted yesterday, it rained all day here, so I spent most of it at the leisure centre with DD.

Today started out nice and bright, we went
into town, came back and baked some rock cakes (my body declutter is on hold till af ter Easter). Took DD to preschool, was all set for a detailed hoover of the front room when the doorbell rang, two young lads, one of whom had fallen off his bike and really bashed up his face, so they came in, used the phone to arrange for a parent to collect them, cleaned up, all of this took the best part of an hour, felt so sorry for him, although he didn't seem too badly hurt there was blood everywhere and he was very shaken up. Anyway, I really didn't feel like hoovering after that, so I went shopping instead. Start again tomorrow!

Liking the Easter namechanges, can't think of one at all though and I seem to be on a lot of threads at the moment so will avoid confusion and stay as I am this time.

Waves at everybody, night night.

TALLULAHBELLE · 02/04/2010 00:01

Morning (for me). Realised last night that I will have to be a day behind everyone else. Well that's my excuse for doing nothing yesterday and I'm sticking to it.

Hopefully getting my hair done this morning, BBQ at lunch into afternoon so won't get started till DD's in bed.

Hopefully catch up later.

DreamTeamGirl · 02/04/2010 00:27

Evening all

I have to share my new purchase with you all. I got my Roomba delivered today!!!

Its ace and actually quite scary what it picked up on my freshly (2hours before and an empty house) vaccuumed carpets

DS and I had ages of fun watching it whizzing round doing its thing. I am so excited by it!! Housework, revolutionised!

purplewednesday · 02/04/2010 01:50

Love the idea of a rooba, DTG, I think the poor dog would freak if i got one though!

Will be trying a little decluttering today, inbetween hot x buns.

Back to jigging the baby back to sleep.....

eastereggiepac · 02/04/2010 07:36

Morning all,

First one up as usual but had a lie-in this morning till 7 am!

DH is going to work today so am planning on having a catch-up day around the house in preparation for a month of really getting these routines ingrained.

DC's are staying at Dsis's house tonight so we actually have some child free time! We are determined to do something instead of just collapsing in an exhausted heap so thinking of going for a meal and then to cinema. On Saturday morning am then going to shopping without DC's and have a long overdue haircut. Bliss. It is my birthday on Easter Sunday but I am going to get overshadowed by Easter eggs (i can hear it now 'Happy Birthday Mummy....where are the eggs?' ) so am going to enjoy some me time on Saturday instead .

Have a lovely day everyone.

NettiespagettisMiniEggs · 02/04/2010 08:08

Morning everyone lying in bed rather than following flying start. I completed everything on my list apart from clean house and dejunk bookcase and the blame lies with DB arriving from Scotland at least 4hr earlier than first thought!

Today I shall try and keep house relatively tidy with 4 little people might be imp. And when they all in bed I'm going to mop my kitchen floor!!

Is a rhoona one of those automatic Hoover?

Hope you all have a lovely good Friday x

Shannaratiger · 02/04/2010 08:15

Morning all,

I'm joining you from the 'big' flylady thread as after 3 years of flying I still haven't cracked it and so need to completely go back to babysteps and rewritting CJournal.
PA hope DD is ok.

BBL

DidEinsteinsMum · 02/04/2010 08:21

RIght. I crashed last night but feel so much better fir it. so here is today's plan. I have half a day to rescue the house ready for the visitors before i go away. (the joys of not having your own home -not complaining though the live in babysitter part is fab)

So the plan is to:
Get up
Drink strong coffee
Send text to say will be down late afternooon
Find timer and set it.
15 mins bedroom
15 mins lounge
15 mins bathroom
repeat until lunch time when focus will have to be tidy lounge and bathroom.

Right 5 more mintutes in bed whilst i finsh breakfast and then off i go. Will let you know how i do. Need to be a duacell bunny on speed today. so much to do so little time.

eastermummy · 02/04/2010 08:24

Morning everyone - lots of coffee here for anyone who needs it!

Hi Shannaratiger and welcome. I'm going back to the beginning too. Things have slipped somewhat but its not as bad as it was when I first started.

Not got a complete plan for today yet. DH is working from lunchtime so need to go out this morning to get bday present for DS friend - party tomorrow. I'm not at work for a whole week so need to make the most of the time I have.

Need to tackle a room at a time I think. Today I will do the bedrooms.
strip beds
wash bedding
declutter
dust
vacuum
make beds
shine sink
s&s
& DS wants veggie stew for tea (thank you Mickey Mouse!)

See you later

Easter smilies

Littlepurpleprincess · 02/04/2010 08:49

Good morning everyone. Can't believe it's April already. I have a very upset DS at home today. They had their last day at pre-school yesturday and he hates the holidays. He keeps saying "why won't you let me go to big school mummy?!" and I feel so mean.

Today's list,

Morning routine done
Laundry half done
Dishes done
15 mins in DS room
Cook something with DS (probably white choc biscuits)
Clean computer area again

Bank holidays suck. DP always has to work. Will have to make it a nice indoor day today.

Happy easter!

eastermummy · 02/04/2010 08:52

purple I agree. DH usually works BHs as well AND he needs the car to get there so I am stuck to walking distance or getting the bus (quite a walk to the bus stop).

Its going to rain today as well so that's the park option quashed! On the positive side DS wants to do some Spring cleaning so I hope to get some flying done today

aberita · 02/04/2010 14:21

Today isn't a bank holiday here in Austria (something I always find surprising, as it's a Catholic country and we get so many other religious holidays) - you're just not supposed to eat any meat. Not a problem for me as a vegetarian. And yesterday was "Green Thursday" when you're supposed to eat something green; my MIL always does spinach for lunch...

I'm not doing a list today as we've only just got back from the ILs and it's going to take me long enough to get everything unpacked and put away. I do need to defrost the freezer fairly soon, however, as I managed to not quite close the freezer door properly before we went away.

PositiveAttitude · 02/04/2010 19:31

Hello Ladies, Lovely easter bunny thingies.

Love the easter names,too.

Rain stopped here this afernoon and DS and I went for a lovely walk on the beach. Hope you have all had better weather than you expected, too.

Thanks for all the good wishes for DD4 yesterday. It was a VERY llloooooooooonnnnnnggggggggg day. - I managed to read nearly a whole book! The surgeon did not actually do what he planned to. They got her into theatre and discovered that she needs far more done than he thought, so sewed her back up again. He has said it will now be better to leave it a couple of years, then do a major few jobs all together. Got a let off for a few years, though.
Out of the house for 15 hours, absolutely knackered from being sat around doing nothing all day, but home in time for the darts, then fell asleep and missed the end. MrsDinky - did The power win? He was winning when I fell asleep.

DOne nothing today, so no list! Try again tomorrow.

Sorry for lack of personal messages, DD wants laptop. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Just a quick shout out to OM - Where do you shop for teenage boys clothes? DS grown out of childrens section and mens sizes all look ridiculous on him. I am only used to girls going from kids to adults. (far easier!)

NettiespagettisMiniEggs · 02/04/2010 19:42

Aw pa how difficult I hope she is recovering well. Not surprised you didn't manage to get nothing done today!

I've been entertaining all day we had good fun doen the pier and are hoping for some lovely weather tomorrow!

I have almost tidied up! Just got to clean dining table and put away some toys (if only I cold pull myself back off sofa)

Tomorrow I intend to do more of the same. Although I have already got joint roasting in slow cooker fingers crossed it cooks alright!

Happy easter woohoo I got an Easter egg I'm so eggcited!!!! I've not had an egg for years!!

eastermummy · 02/04/2010 21:56

I DID MY LIST TODAY First time in ages. Bedrooms all clean and tidy and aired! Bedclothes are washed as well although not dried but that's because of the weather although it did brighten up this afternoon. V of PA and nettie being by the sea. Couldn't get much more lanlocked in the UK than where I am

Will try to get to bed before 10.30 but not promising

See you tomorrow!

MiniEggsAndMarmite · 02/04/2010 22:34

Evening Ladies

Can't believe I didn't notice those bunnies yesterday !

DEM (AKA duracell ) wow, that was a late and ambitious plan!

MrsD how good of you to take care of those boys. I imagine the parents were very relieved you were there to help.

Tallulah I hope you had a great BBQ. Normally DH has insisted on having our first by now (we have been known to have one on New Year's Eve!) but it has been too cold and windy.

DTG I have been considering a Roomba for a while so I will be watching with interest to see how you get on, sounds wonderful so far.

PurpleW I hope you are full of yummy hot x buns .

Eggie have a wonderful time relaxing with DH. What a lovely early birthday treat.

Glad you got a bit of a lie in Nettie. We were lucky too this morning and eventually had to wake DS!

Welcome Shannaratiger I hope the coffee helped.

Eastermummy don't forget to enjoy some of your week off too...sounds like SD is quite keen to help you out so maybe you will . Hope you got your early night.

Isn't it funny how kids get bored with leisure time?! I'd love to have a couple of weeks off! Great that DS loves pre-school though .

I haven't heard of Green Thursday Aberita, that made me smile. It would go down very well in this house as we are all lovers of broccoli!

Glad DD is ok PA and sorry that there's more to be done later . On a brighter note, how lovely to be able to go for a walk on the beach (and for Nettie too). I used to live near the coast and miss it very much.

MiniEggsAndMarmite · 02/04/2010 22:38

Good morning,

Today's babystep is about practising what we have already done and reading a bit more about FLYing.

We're still in Zone 1 - the entrance, Front Porch and Dining Room for decluttering and the mission.

Have a great day!

MrsDinky · 02/04/2010 22:42

Evening everyone,

Rain, rain and more rain here today, also freezing. Had a nice morning just pottering around the house with the DCs and took them swimming this afternoon. DS is having a sleepover in DDs bedroom, they like doing this on holiday weekends, meant it took ages for them to get to sleep but hopefully they will not wake up too early . No list today , but ave managed to declutter a few kitchen cupboards, also DH hoovered while I did the Sainsburys shop, so not too bad. Getting frustrated at th weather, I really wan to do some gardening.

PA - I forgot to watch the darts! I kept thinking it was Friday, with it being the last day of term. Have checked, Taylor did win, Barney really isn't so good these days. Found this PDC Charity Album you could add it to your Christmas Wish List! Sounds like yesterday was a hard day, hope DD is feeling OK.

Eastermummy - well done, glad you are getting back on top of things

Nettie - hello, haven't "met" you before I don't think. I also suffer from difficulty peeling myself off the sofa.

Waves at everyone else. Night night all.

purplewednesday · 03/04/2010 04:12

Morning all!

Didn't manage that much yesterday apart from the basics as i had lots of visitors throughout the day for hot x buns!

I have read a bit more about flying though.

DH has built me a chicken house today, so will be buying hens next week!!

We are off tomorrow for a couple of days to stay with family, so no flying in my own home! Will be back next Tues, so serious flying for Wed.

PA Glad DD is out of hosp - hope she recovers OK and stays well until the next op.

Tallulah - very envious of BBQ. Can't wait until it warms up here in good ol' blighty.

See you all in a few days, keep up the good work as you are doing fantastically well!!

TTFN

TALLULAHBELLE · 03/04/2010 06:48

Another flightless day! Took DC's to the park this morning & went for coffee & smoothies.Didn't get back till much later than planned. DH has now taken DD to her first AFL game -local league- so I am home with the DT's and no chance getting anything done. Got a wedding tomorrow & will be away overnight. Guess I'll be playing catch-up as usual. Hopefully the lure of bank holidays & lots of chocolate will inspire the rest of you to laziness so I won't feel too left behind!!!!
