There's no fooling an April fledgling flyer

Welcome to the April edition of the fledgling flyers where shower screens are shiny and rain never stops play.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on April 1st (no joke), but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

Splish, splash, swish and swash along to reserve your place...

Ellie - this is driving me mad. The ones I have sent requests to are DEFINITELY not you. so, if you want to, do a search for : first name Becci; surname goes ding done 4 letters. Picture of a black cat!!

PositiveAttitude · 27/04/2010 20:33

Not Ding done!!!! DERRRRRR ding dong!!

LinzerTorte · 27/04/2010 20:39

I just wrote a long post only for it to disappear into the ether, so will have to do an ellie-style summary:

  1. Failed to get DC to bed on time
  2. As a result, have had fairly unproductive evening
  3. Thank you for accepting my friend request ellie
  4. Hello missbennett - I was wondering where you'd got to.
  5. Sorry to hear about your evening PA. I shall be watching closely to see who ellie becomes friends with (nosey, me?). (I also find that I sometimes take refuge in the computer when things are falling apart around me).
  6. New resolution: DC in bed by 7 followed by an hour of flying.
  7. Am now going to try and stick (sort of...) to my early night resolution.
elliepac · 27/04/2010 20:41

I hope my facebook page lives up to the excitement it has clearly generated in pa's life. I think she may have lost it.

elliepac · 27/04/2010 20:42

ooh i like the ellie-style summary linzer .

PositiveAttitude · 27/04/2010 20:43

I lost it years ago!!

LinzerTorte · 27/04/2010 20:46

PA - I've just sent you a friend request (hope you don't mind). This searching on FB for people you hardly know is strangely addictive... You wouldn't believe the amount of time I wasted spent last night trying to work out ellie's surname!
Right, really am off to bed now...

MrsDinky · 27/04/2010 20:47

Well, so far Linzer and PA have successfully found me on FB. The email I gave is not linked to FB, so just drop me an email and I will tell you my name and the information you need to find me (there are lots of my name on FB). Could I just add that I don't want to be referred to as MrsD on there in case any of my RL friends are MNers? Thank you.

Well busy day here, can't remember if I posted a list, ah yes, it's all coming back. Needless to say I opted for the shopping in preference to the pilates, and was delighted to find a brand new Wimpey Bar so I enjoyed waiter service fast food on a plate in a retro style today which was nice. Beanburger and diet coke in case you're concerned about my bodyclutter!

After school did a big declutter exercise in the garden (we have a bad habit of buying new garden furniture and never getting rid of the old stuff), so there is a big pile of stuff for Freecycle or the tip. Also planted out lettuce seedlings and repotted tomatoes. House looks a mess though, washing up and ironing await. Might pop backl later when those jobs are done.

elliepac · 27/04/2010 20:47

Have some wine and then search for some more random people on facebook .

elliepac · 27/04/2010 20:49

cross-posted with mrsd and linzer, previous post was intended for pa but if you wish, you can all do that too .

MrsDinky · 27/04/2010 20:49

I might just do that Ellie!

elliepac · 27/04/2010 20:58

Yay! mrsd chose shopping!

elliepac · 27/04/2010 21:01

Look, you've all got me doing it now, i think i may have found mrsd . No more, no more, i must go and do some marking and stop procrastinating.

PositiveAttitude · 27/04/2010 21:05

OOOhhhhhhhhh!!!! I am so excited. I have just got 3 more friends on facebook!!!! Linzer, Ellie, & Mrs D. WHhoooooooo!!!

PositiveAttitude · 27/04/2010 21:09

Enough excitement for one evening I am off to watch Heston. (cant stand it really, but DS is obsessed, so we snuggle up together and I stare into space for an hour, with the odd YUCK!!!)

Dont worry MrsD, your secret life is safe!!

Ellie - go MARK!!!

MrsDinky · 27/04/2010 21:13

What am I talking about, ironing, spend the evning on Facebook more like it. Yes, Ellie has found me. You've all got a lot of friends compared to me!

purplewednesday · 27/04/2010 22:38

If I join facebook, can I add Linzer mrsd ellie and PA?

haven't got as far as the lounge tonight so no idea whats on the telly.

Tomorrow i plan to write a long todo list, and then tell you all that i have successfully flown.

Hot chocolate anyone?

MiniMarmite · 27/04/2010 22:41

Evening All

Look at all you busy lot, putting me to shame!

How exciting that we're all getting together on FB too. I'd like to do this too. As MrsD says, I want to preserve my RL/MN anonomity so will be looking to avoid marmite references . I'm enjoying everyone's descriptions of themselves/their names!

Good decision re shopping MrsD!

I've had a rather topsy-turvy day - tried to go back to bed after my night time telephone meetings but couldn't sleep so ended up doing some housework and then treating myself to lunch out at our local noodle bar, then came home for a nap before doing some of my paid work and then collected DS from the CM...I feel like I have jetlag!

Wow, you were keen this morning purplewednesday and Nettie! MrsD I know exactly what you mean about babysitting - I like the feeling that I can't do any housework (unless I want to start on someone elses)!

Biddy I think we're a bit variable about timer. I can't remember if it is PA or OM that swears by using it and sounds like Ellie and Linzer find it useful too - helps get the work done efficiently and also means you take time for yourself too. Maybe give it a go and see if it works for you. Oh, and it is great that you have a shiney sink - that's plenty for day 2 .

Linzertorte it is difficult to juggle everything isn't it? I have to say I generally only manage babysteps on work days (except on Tuesdays when I force myself to sort out the inevitably enormous clean washing pile)!

Slugbrains sounds like you're getting everything together, good for you.

SR I guess National Express to Perth would take forever?

Hi SC we do miss you so hope you can join us again soon, blasted technology!

Glad to hear you haven't disappeared PA and sorry DD4 is feeling unwell.

Good to see you MissB at "the dog ate my power cable" (I have a cat so, thankfully, having the keyboard trodden on is the only technical issue likely to arise)!

Hi DWM - I notice your list is numbered today, that must mean you mean business!

It is DH's birthday tomorrow so we are going oout for the evening, hooray!

Have a good night and see you all tomorrow x

Morning All

A good babystep today, reminding us all to take good care of ourselves.

Were still in the living room for decluttering and missions.

Have a great day.

droitwichmummy · 27/04/2010 22:49

MM my list may have been numbered but it didn't get done!

  1. empty DW and reload DH had done it
  2. ironing no but there isn't much anyway
  3. get DS to bed on time errrr no BUT I didn't shout, just got a bit thin-lipped
  4. cook mince for lasagne and cottage pie no
  5. 1 load in WM will do
  6. plan work for tomorrow in head (sort of)
  7. arrange for parcel to be collected yes!
  8. shine sink no
  9. s&s yes while DS in bath!

Will do better tomorrow.

LinzerTorte · 28/04/2010 09:39

Morning all,

It's very quiet on here today - is everyone still recovering from the excitement of last night?

Just dropping in while I have my morning coffee - Wednesdays are my busy day so I really need a list today. I still need to:

Finish off work that I'd planned to do today
Tidy up downstairs
Put washing away
Swish & swipe
Get handouts ready for English lesson (in 40 minutes)
Check cake for friend's visit this afternoon has defrosted
Have parents "evening" (actually afternoon) talk with DD1's teacher
Check whether we need to see arts & craft teacher
Piano lesson DD1 and DD2
Enjoy tea and Sacher Torte/muffins with friend
Put DC to bed by 7 pm, and if so:
Mission
15 min declutter in living room
Finish menu translation

purple Sorry to have missed out on your hot chocolate; I didn't quite make it to bed just after I'd posted but was definitely there when your hot chocolate was on offer as it was then almost midnight here. You'd be more than welcome to add me as a friend on FB btw.

MiniMarmite Glad to hear I'm not the only one struggling with my work/fly balance! So are you on FB too then? (As I may have pointed out before, I am not nosey. In the slightest. But as ellie said, it is nice to put faces to names - or in PA's case, a cat to a name. )

My list calls - back later!

elliepac · 28/04/2010 09:42

Morning everyone,

absolutely nothing to say other than that really. Busy, busy day ahead so it will be a case of seeing what I get done.

Have a good day everyone!

PositiveAttitude · 28/04/2010 10:36

After the excitement of last evening I have had a manic morning to catch up.

Has anyone else been surprised by seeing what someone actually looks like on here - no, I dont look like a cat, by the way, just waiting to get a flattering photo of myself - could take some time!! Blind man on a dark night comes to mind!!
Its weird how you picture people just from their posts on here and they are NOTHING like that in real life. I had Ellie totally wrong. Not that I thought she was old and ugly, but she is young and beautiful ...... - feel as if I could be digging myself a hole here, so maybe should give up now!! ....

.....SOOoooooo!!!
Ellie Hope your busy day goes well.

Linzer - Very impressive long list from you today. AND the most friends on facebook. Wooo go you!!!

DWM - LoL at your list!

MM - Marmite is not high on my list of chat subjects, funnily enough, so you are safe with me! Happy Birthday to DH. Hope you have a fab evening out.
Not me with a timer, unfortunately. I though it was SC, but could be wrong. Me and time are sworn enemies. I always think I can fit in more than I can in any time. Interesting research done on this, which I wont bore you all with, but I swear I have the gene that causes imbalance between optimistic enthusiasm and actual time. - I am not joking, there really is research on this!!

MissB lol at "Dog ate power cable". How many of the teachers would belive that if it was given as an excuse at school? Brilliant!! Come back soon, but dont get into trouble at work

Purple - Come on join Facebook!! Look at the excitement of last evening ..... Oh I am such a sad muppet!!!

Right, so far this morning I have hoisted my flagpole!! - I have put my washing on the line before work. I have decided that it is like my flag to tell the neighbours that I have actually done some work before anyone else is up in the morning! - now flapping nicely!
Sandwiches
Printed letter
Dropped a letter into DD3s school to give them a kick up the bum to sort something out.
Got delayed into work by a stupid swan who thought it might be interesting to walk in the middle of the road on the busiest street on the isalnd at rush hour!! Swan pie for diner anyone, Oh I think the queen has to be informed and you are sent to the tower if you squash a swan, dont you?

To do after work:
Collect DD3 from education unit
Represent governors at a dragon sculpture unveiling.
Hoovering ad infinitum

Right, youth minister has arrived, so I should at least look as if I am working.

Bye for now.

swanriver · 28/04/2010 10:54

I'm lost again - swans dragons cats flags and sachertortes
But I have booked my flight to Edinburgh for Godchilds confirmation in Perth curses on the Scotrail sleeper website but then going to stay in Hexham afterwards, so complicated now I am optimistically thinking it might be nice to add one of my children into the broth but would they put up with four hours in someone else's car as well as a confirmation ceremony? No don't think so.

kids to school
swept floor, routines
taken out recycling - just need to sort
Sorted big landing hotspot last night and hung up loads of clothes

Watched last episode of Mad Men Last night, so brilliant.

Piano today

swanriver · 28/04/2010 11:23

Rcyling sorted, front garden tidied up and swept
