There's no fooling an April fledgling flyer

Welcome to the April edition of the fledgling flyers where shower screens are shiny and rain never stops play.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on April 1st (no joke), but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

Splish, splash, swish and swash along to reserve your place...

Evening All,

I hope you all had a good day. I went to the gym - hasn't happened in a while .

Glad everyone enjoyed the funfair MrsD, mmm candyfloss!

Sorry you have been feeling low purplewednesday, good for you for taking a positive approach, I know how hard it can be.

SR lol at matching white socks. Whatever floats your boat!

Nettie loving the May thread title proposal .

Linzertorte a visit to the wildlife park ending with prosecco sounds fabulous!

Well done on a great start today biddy. Chairmum I love the way you say you are going to take it easy and then write yourself a mammoth list!

Good exercise advice OM, it is so true - I was feeling much more human after my (short) stint on the cross trainer today.

feetheart sorry you are feeling unwell - agree you must be feeling bad if you are resorting to lemsip - I have never managed more than a single sip of one myself.

SR what do you mean about your voice? Are you a bit tired or just feeling a bit lacking on confidence (sorry, making assumptions here, both affect mine)?

Lovely to see you DWM

Ellie no wonder you collapsed in a heap after that long list!

Sorry, a bit of a rushed one today, got to get a couple of hours sleep before my call starts!

Good morning All

Today's babystep is about planning www.flylady.net/pages/bbd27.asp. Homemade pizza in the marmite household today - but must make sure I remember to do my online shopping tonight - I have forgotten for the last 2 weeks .

We're in the living room for the second day of decluttering or missions.

Have a good day.

Work out what's for dinner
Pop to shops for fruit, papers

DTG - are you there, thinking about you, have emailed.

DWM - lovely to see you are back

MM well done on gym, i went too, I always have to drag myself but enjoy it once I'm there

Ellie - well done on a good evening

PurpleWeds - thank you, I was only babysitting, but it make a nice change to just sit in someone else's house and read/watch telly without feeling you ought to be doing stuff.

Waves to everyone else. Like the idea of Facebooking, can email me at mrsdinky at btinternet dot com (all squeezed together).

purplewednesday · 27/04/2010 09:21

*MrsD- I'd go clothes shopping!

I'm not on faceache facebook. Perhaps i should "get with it" and join.

biddyofsuburbia · 27/04/2010 09:50

Morning - thanks ellie nettie MM OM everyone! for all your inclusive & supportive comments - I hope I'll get to 'know' you all and be able to reciprocate in due course!

Question: Do you actually use timers? I've been reading some Flylady stuff and she seems quite insistent!

Didn't do the mobile skipcar last night so had to chuck rubbish in binliner this morning! About to go through my list!

LinzerTorte · 27/04/2010 09:56

Morning,

Coffee break time here. I'm inundated with work this week so won't have much time for flying - although I know I ought to make time... So no list today, as I'm going to struggle to even get my routines done. I need to think about how I can find more time for flying when I'm busy with work - concentrate on work in the mornings and flying in the evenings perhaps?

biddy Well done on your first day of flying!

ellie That was an impressive list yesterday; it puts my evening to shame. I spent most of it on the computer - theoretically working, but getting sidetracked far too often so I didn't feel like I'd been very productive.
I'm still puzzling over your surname btw - the only leather making related name I can think of isn't Irish. More clues needed!

MiniMarmite Hope you're enjoying your day off today and managing to get some rest (catch up on some sleep?).

Nettie Last time I looked, I had hundreds if not thousands of e-mails from FlyLady - I just found them all too overwhelming so rarely look at them any more. This thread is much more manageable!

MrsD Tried putting your e-mail into FB and it worked so I've sent you a friend request! Anyone else is welcome to add me too (e-mail further up the thread).

LinzerTorte · 27/04/2010 09:57

biddy Yes, I do use a timer - I wouldn't be without it in fact, although I'm always losing it as I can never remember where I put it down! I have to think about where my last room rescue etc was...

elliepac · 27/04/2010 11:59

MOrning all, was sooooo nice to get up to a clean kitchen this morning (not clean now mind after manic morning rush)

Coffee break at work now during a free period so just a quick post from me.

Having just researched my surname I have realised that although very popular in Ireland it is not an Irish name...whoops. I therefore suspect linzer that you have it.

nettie if you join us, you don't need the gazillion e-mails from flylady. We are all you need .I'm thinking about the running too, although time to do that kind of thing is a rare commodity in this house.

biddy i don't use a timer but i do set myself 15 min 'alarm' on my phone. The 15 min chunks really do work.

mrsdinky shopping every time, no need for a decision .

Big waves to everyone else.

Slugbrains · 27/04/2010 12:30

I am trying to be productive. lost my way a little. but half got the morning thing sorted. trying to sort paperwork, housing, cv, job hunting etc. popped on internet for a quick 5 mins but been here too long and not made much progress. going for lunch and to try to do better this afternoon.

Congrats to you all for doing so well flying.

swanriver · 27/04/2010 14:05

Linzer Ellie and MrsD thanks for fb, will get round to sorting at end of week, Ellie I can only think of something beginning with T and something beginning with C, both ending with r. learnt a lot about leather though...fascinating about the bark.

Morning at work,
yest cass finally made today
ordered present for mother to give to someone else (don't ask)
still fighting my way through muddle here
and trying to find a way to get to Perth, Scotland from London when the Scotrail sleeper site is playing up [grr]
managed a few routines first thing - decided key is to put dw on in DAY NOT last thing at night, as it is a mammoth task unloading it first thing, well not mammoth just enough to put me off clearing up breakfast

must dash

biddyofsuburbia · 27/04/2010 14:22

Oh yes, I've got a stopwatch thing on my phone - will try that. Will have to be tomorrow though - not doing so well at flying today! Have made sure I've got a clean sink - as I'm only on day 2 of babysteps I am telling myself that is OK!

Dishwasher on (finally)
shiny sink
DD fed
miracle grow grass stuff chucked on lawn & watered by DD
Drs appointments for DCs made (a week apart as you can only get a double appointment on the day?!

Off to get DS from school soon, followed by play in garden (?)/ homework & ds swimming lesson...feeling stressed but taking inspiration from you lot!!

Stillcounting · 27/04/2010 14:44

Hello!

Just dashing in to apologise for being absent yet again.

Having dreadful computer problems. Taking 30 mins for wretched machine to crank up in the morning, another 10 minutes to open e-mails and another 10 mins to open up a website. Arrrrggghhhh!!!

Couldn't wait for it yesterday and now I've opened the whole wretched thing up today - I've got to go!!

Frantic waves to everyone and hope to get this sorted soon ....will catch up individually with everyone when I do!!

In the meantime, a warm welcome to Biddy of Surburbia (love the name) and helloooo to MummyD who I missed out last time!!

Happy Flying!

LinzerTorte · 27/04/2010 15:56

I've spent the whole morning working and the whole afternoon chauffeuring the DC around (or so it seems), so I really need to get my flying act together this evening. Must make sure I get the DC to bed on time - something I rarely manage, but it would give me that much more time in the evenings (and the DDs take ages to wake in the mornings, so they definitely need the sleep).

Stillcounting Sorry to hear about your computer problems; my laptop has been playing up a bit recently and I know how frustrating it can be. I'd be lost without the Internet!

ellie I think I've just sent you a friend request on FB - but there about 10 people with the same name (if I've got it right) and I couldn't see where any of them lived. Otherwise some poor unsuspecting person will be wondering who on earth I am!

Now have to go and pick up DD1 from ballet, take her friend home, pick up DD2 from friend's house and finally DS from his friend's - also need to supervise two lots of piano practice before the lesson tomorrow. Back later!

PositiveAttitude · 27/04/2010 17:27

I have not disappeared!!! Who said "I wish?"

Just flying on here between cooking rice and naans so just a short one. Out tonight, but will hopefully catch up tomorrow.

Ellie I am on FB. You have had me thinking about your name, though. What I assumed it was doesn't have anyone under about 20 and one very risque glam model photo, - is that you?

house is a mess. Life is a whirlwind. I will try to get back either later or tomorrow.

Welcome to Biddy.

missbennett · 27/04/2010 17:42

hello, everybody!
Sorry I've not been around and I'm currently doing a quick post from work (possibly not allowed!!)
The dog ate the power charger lead from my laptop so no computer access properly since then DH trying to fix it but suspect I will have to buy new one. Dog threatened with one way trip to vet

Seem to have fallen off the flying wagon - managing to keep most some routines going so not too overwhelmed but I need to start again - maybe a new month resolution for May It's all got a bit on top of me to be honest but I will get things under control again I'm sure. At least with flying it does start to become routine and doesn't go completely!

Better go as time to go home etc. Will try and get on again later - have missed you all!

elliepac · 27/04/2010 18:05

Evening, quick pop in before I do bath, bed etc.

linzer you have indeed friend requested me on Facebook. It is very nice to put a face to a name . sr the one beginning with T is right. pa i am the glamour model , when you eventually find me, you will realise this is far from the truth. See sr's post, to check you have the right me.

Been in for an hour and have:-

washing on
washing off line
washed up
been to the park
prepared vegetables

Off to bathe DC's. Back later.

purplewednesday · 27/04/2010 18:44

I have an hour before picking DD1 up from Brownies, and DD2 is asleep in the pushchair.
Trying to decide what to do next.
PA hope your rice turned out better than the lot i cooked earlier - i never seem to get it right.
Biddy - i haven't got as far as timing myself - i just run in a room, sort out the obvious and run out again.
Slug housing/cv/job hunting - wow! you have a lot to think about. Housework is small fry compared to that lot.
Stillcounting you have done well not to throw the computer out of the window!

I am going to whizz up some baby food and then clean kitchen. Oh and bring washing in, put huge pile of washing away, ?ironing?, look online for another highchair.

I may have to eat another French Fancy cake first though!

droitwichmummy · 27/04/2010 18:46

Hello - 2 days in a row! V impressed with myself

Working from home tomorrow and Thursday and really MUST get on and do loads and not MN or pretend to fly all day.

This evening I will

  1. empty DW and reload
  2. ironing
  3. get DS to bed on time
  4. cook mince for lasagne and cottage pie
  5. 1 load in WM
  6. plan work for tomorrow
  7. arrange for parcel to be collected
  8. shine sink
  9. s&s

Back later!

PositiveAttitude · 27/04/2010 19:00

Yet another dash on here. Just on my way out to a meeting.

Purple - Rice cooker - cant go too far wrong!! Yes it was good, but ended up feeding 2 more than I had accounted for, so guess who had curry sauce - no chicken, 2 fish fingers (thrown under grill when the extras arrived!) and potatoe because rice all gone! I am sure teenagers can smell food a mile off and descend just in time. They were not even my DCs and I was feeding 8 already!!

Ellie So are you one letter off being an old Coronation Street resident? Or am I miles off (No I dont mean Ireland to Coronation Street)?

elliepac · 27/04/2010 19:20

Indeed pa, when I am grumpy DH kindly says I remind him of her .

Currently sat in garden enjoying evening sunshine with a coffee (would much rather have wine but marking to do later ). Unfortunately, neighbours have decided to play music so loud the whole street can hear. I know it's still early etc. etc. but it's ruining my peace.

Still to do:-

Washing out of machine and indrier/line
Dinner
DS to bed
CLothes for morning
DS stuff for swimming
Mark Year 11 mock exam papers. (unfortunately they are a bright group which is fantastic but when marking comes around they write loads...)

purple whizz up some baby food, I am impressed. Being a completely incompetent cook, if I ever had to whizz up baby food it was in a jar .

pa feeding 10 . I am sure your DC's appreciate it and I bet all their friends think you are a lovely mum, one of those houses where they like going because they are always made to feel welcome.

dwm Yay!

Anyway, better go and put potatoes on. Back later.

PositiveAttitude · 27/04/2010 19:24

Have you got a picture on your profile on FB?

elliepac · 27/04/2010 20:18

yep, would you like a description? I am clearly beautiful , looking straight at the camera, brown hair, green eyes. Does that match the description of the glam model...hang on, i'm going to search myself....ooh add in fishnet tights and that's me .

PositiveAttitude · 27/04/2010 20:26

Right, I have got impatient MOI???? and have stalked sent requests to 3 people with your name. So now there are at least 2 more people out in the world who thing I am a nutter!!!

My evening has all fallen apart. DD4 feeling unwell, so cant really leave her alone. DS is swimming training. DD3 is at her boyfriends house. DD2 just phoned up and has to stay at work til 10.30 (Grrrr no wine for me tonight, then, as I have to collect her) DH had already gone to his meeting when I discovered nobody was here for a poorly feeling DD4. SO had to cancel my meeting, which was my social evening of the week!!
So I could have done a load of washing, scrubbed the kitchen, swept the floors, cleaned the shower room/bathrooms, anything really, at least done my over due cross-stitch. BUT no I have sat searching facebook for people I dont even know the name of!!!

Everyone seems to be getting to grips with all this flying. Who has signed up for the emails?????? Are you crazy woman?????? You'll spend all day on the computer reading the blardy things!

Sorry for lack of personal messages, I really should get my act together again. Just watching Come Dine With Me, so will leave that til tomorrow.
