Welcome to the April edition of the fledgling flyers where shower screens are shiny and rain never stops play.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on April 1st (no joke), but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

Splish, splash, swish and swash along to reserve your place...

Good morning all!

I am awake at this ungodly hour with the baby who is still awake too much in the night - thats why i haven't posted anything lately as i have been too knackered!!

So, here is my To Do list for wed:

empty dishwasher
empty washing machine
refill washing machine
send Easter cards
ironing (hahaha!)
phone about the course in stained glass making
shop for easter eggs
take picture that needs re-framing to shop
make some of freeheart's oat biscuits
take DD1 to friends house to play

Most of this will go out of the window if the weather is dry as i need to put woodstain on the garden fence.

My resolution this month is to do the babysteps properly!

Looking forward to catching up with your news,

TTFN!

PositiveAttitude · 31/03/2010 07:01

Just marking my spot. DD4 in hospital tomorrow for planned surgery, so may not be around for a couple of days.

missbennett · 31/03/2010 07:54

Spot marking likewise.
PA hope the surgery goes well.
Purplewednesday hope you manage to get a bit more sleep - impressive list!

MrsDinky · 31/03/2010 09:29

Spot marking. Best wishes for DD4 PA.

aberita · 31/03/2010 10:02

Just marking my spot too. I managed to do most of the baby steps last month, so my resolution for this month is to get all my routines done. No problems with the morning routine provided I don't have too much work on, but I'm not finding it quite as easy to get the afternoon (DC home and general rushing around) and evening routines done.

Hope all goes well for your DD tomorrow, PositiveAttitude.

Stillcounting · 31/03/2010 13:17

Hello [SC places bucket and mop on floor and hangs up microfibre cloths for everyone to help themselves]in preparation for month ahead

Thank you Mini-Marmite for continuing to lead us so well in to the land of swishing and swiping and fling boogies and shiney sinks

Good luck for your dd4 tomorrow PA

frazzled74 · 31/03/2010 13:30

droitwichmummy · 31/03/2010 18:51

DS wants to start Spring Cleaning so I will definitely be joining in again in April

purplewednesday · 31/03/2010 20:16

Evenin' All,

It rained so I didn't have to do the fence. Did manage everything else on the list apart from the ironing and making oat biscuits.

Good luck PA with the hospital trip - insist that everyone pays strict attention to the handwashing / alcohol gel rules!!

Frazzled - have you tried Lakeland online? They sell so many things that you didn't know you needed.

I will shine the sink in a minute and then try persuading the baby (DD2) that she really is old enough (19/52) to sleep more than 3hrs at a time.

TTFN

optimisticmumma · 31/03/2010 20:47

Marking my spot ladies - sorry to have been awol for a while....Will do better!

DreamTeamGirl · 31/03/2010 21:32

Evening everyone!
Shiney new thread ready, hurrah.

PA hope hospital goes ok and DD is alright xx Must be very scarey, so ((HUGS)) to you all

Frazzled DONT look at Lakeland- you will spend too much money. Actually, what Lakeland are missing is the wishlist facility- but then I would probaby get even worse mick taken by my family if I sent them by Lakeland wishlist ...

SC Thanks for the microfibres- do you have any pink ones?

DWM -did you get rid of said spider or is it still lurking?

Hello to MissB, MrsD, PW and aberita

droitwichmummy · 31/03/2010 22:03

Spider still somewhere in the kitchen. For some reason the people we bought the house off put (hardwearing) carpet down in there rather than lino/tiles so I'm going to be brave and have a really good vacuum in there.

I'm secretely hoping one of the cats has eaten it

MiniMarmite · 31/03/2010 22:39

DWM I thought you were going to bed!

MiniMarmite · 31/03/2010 22:44

Welcome to the April thread everyone, glad to see so many of you have made it over and I expect we'll see a few more joining soon.

We're starting again with those beginner babysteps, starting with shining our sinks daily.

In addition to the babysteps, we will be working in a different zone of the house each week, starting with Zone 1, The entrance, front porch and dining room. You can either declutter in the zone or do the daily mission.

Happy flying everyone.

Oh, and don't get caught out this morning .

Just got time for a message to Ellie. Just wanted to make you feel better this morning that you are not the first one up!! JUst about to go and get the boat. Hopefully my brain will wake up soon too.

If all goes well I will be home in time for the darts tonight.

Have a good day.

NettiespagettisMiniEggs · 01/04/2010 06:21

pa hope today op with dd goes well. Take care of you all!

ChairmumMiaowGoingItAlone · 01/04/2010 06:40

Hello all,

Floorboards have dried quickly, so its just a case of getting the underlay and carpet back down (when I can get 2 people who are allowed to move furniture together). I was trying to avoid the insurance as I have a £100 excess and this way, even with the electricity for the fan heater, should cost less (even if I need to hire a carpet cleaner too) Major decluttering is on hold until then as the furniture is scattered around the house and I'm having to clean around it but I'm still working on the washing and general cleaning bits of my routines.

I shall be back, after the weekend, to dive into April properly!

feetheart · 01/04/2010 07:12

Morning everyone.
Been up for a while and already done monthly invoicing on Sage, the joys of working from home during the holidays . Feeling a bit smug though

PA - hope hospital trip goes as well as it can and isn't too stressful for all involved.

Plan for last month was 15 mins paperwork sorting a day - didn't really happen very often so for April I'm going to work on 15 mins decluttering a day.

Today's list:
Morning routine
2 mins Hotspot
Bank
Post invoices
Rescue kitchen worktop - many hotspots developing into volcano
Empty car of Costco shopping (been there since Monday )
Hoover hall and stairs
Mop kitchen floor
15 mins decluttering - living room
Play with DS
Afternoon routine
Evening routine
Early night after being traumatised by Masterchef semi-final

Hope everyone has a constructive April

eastermummy · 01/04/2010 07:51

DS breaks up today so time for an Easter name change

MiniMarmite · 01/04/2010 08:44

PA sorry forgot to say best wishes for your DD today xxx

elliepac · 01/04/2010 08:54

pa hope all goes well with DD today. Your post made me smile....nice to feel as if i got a lay in .

Marking my place. Can't believe it is my 8th month on this thread and still haven't cracked it.Maybe I should just resing myself to the fact I am lazy .

Anyway, onwards and upwards. New month another fresh start.

Do i need an easter name change....very easy Back in a mo...

eastereggiepac · 01/04/2010 08:58

Ta-dah!!

and whoops, I could resing to myself but that would make it rain and it has actually stopped here for the first time in days.

Should have said resign.

Stillcounting · 01/04/2010 14:29

Hullo. DD's April Fool this morning was to come downstairs with a revolting jointed "monster" plastic hand (acquired somewhere dubious like Quickburger) sticking out the end of her pyjama arm ... I was fooled for about 3 seconds as she reached up for a glass of oj .. not bad for a 6 yr old ...

First time in ages we haven't had planned visitors or spontaneous visitors or other things happening (such as repairs) in the house, perfect opportunity therefore to Fly but have been struck down with a dreadful case of CBA today

Must do school run now and all I have done today is shine my sink, empty dw, one load of washing and some desultory recycling of newspapers . I did listen to a very interesting radio programme about oil and other rich mineral reserves in Mongolia though

Eastereggiepac (love the name btw ) I too am a bit disappointed that I haven't "cracked" it after 8 months and I don't have your hectic job either ... (don't you dare call yourself lazy btw!!!) ....

Still it's been a hard winter, v. dark and cold in this house in the eves... hopefully will be able to achieve more as the days get longer

I think the mantra for today is "hoping to do better this month"

Thanks for posting the steps all over again Mini

Thinking of you and your dd today PA EasterMummy I have a VERY large spider in my wash room called Sebastian. Including legs he's about 4.5 cm across .

Feetheart - gosh - you deserve that smug feeling - well done!!

Good luck with the clean up and have a great Easter Chairmum. Looked for you on Fat Fairy website btw for control journal "emergency numbers and procedures everyone should have" but bit about cj seems to have changed and I couldn't find it - sorry - will look again ...

Don't apologise Talulah - 'tis good to see you! How's the unpacking going?

Hello to scuttling DEM, Dreamteam NettieSpaghetti Optimistic PurpleWednesday Frazzled Aberita Dinky and MissBennett and everyone I've missed ...

Hope you all have a good start to the month!
