Welcome to the April edition of the fledgling flyers where shower screens are shiny and rain never stops play.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on April 1st (no joke), but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

Splish, splash, swish and swash along to reserve your place...

Good morning ladies,

Up early as body clock does not understand the concept of "holiday from work", (but guaranteed to decide that next week when I have to be at work for 7am, that it would prefer to lie in until 10!!!) Not just body clock, cats expected feeding at the same time as usual and bladder complaining too. SOOOoooo here I am bright and early!!

Sandwiches for DH done already. So easy just to do one set!

Ha Ha SC at your name change effort after too much vino! Is your head hurting this morning?

DTG - So sorry to hear about your dad. I hope my beloved SGH is treating him well - thats where I trained many years ago and where I was with DD4 last week. Hope he gets the treatment he needs and does well. of your roomba.

Aberita - I will also have to go and invesigate this fling boogie thread.

MissB , or do we now say Ma'am. Sounds like a lovely time with her majesty! And am of your sunrise service yesterday. A few years ago our church always did this at the local castle. Really special, but after a run of rainy Easter Sunday mornings and minister leaving it has gone by the wayside a bit.

OM - at the tesco fiasco.

Chairmum - Glad your houe is geting a little bit more back to normal. Feel for you, horrible, horrible to have to sort out.

Waves to MM mrsD DWM DEM Frazzled LPP PW and everyone else.

optimisticmumma · 05/04/2010 10:11

Morning all!

at the wrong name SC - your food sounded wonderful though!

PA - glad wedding went well
DTG - so sad to read about your dad but at least he is getting the care he now needs. I'm afraid we have got the t shirt on misdiagnosis in our family too....
Ellie - glad you had a nice day yesterday. Stop counting the years is my advice!!

Am glad I gave you all something to smirtk about regarding...dare I say it....Tescos. I have to say I've always regarded myself as a Waitrose girl in spirit - just never can bring myself to pay substantially more for a weekly shop. That may have to change.....

Today I have a lot to do...
I've just packed DH and DS2 off to Suffolk for the rest of the week and am waiting for DD to return from her travels this afternoon. So I should have time to get lots done.....?.....!

To do :
recycle bottles
post cheques
Do my Couch to 5Km app - am on Week 2 and so far so good.
IRONING
Kitchen cleaning and mission - it needs it!!
House rescue

Think that'll do for now...

Stillcounting · 05/04/2010 11:32

Morning all! [emerges with paper bag on head]

PA I'm not in the least hungover as it sadly only takes half a glass for me to lose whatever faculties I have left nowadays

Lesson learnt

Am impressed by all your early starts!

This is the first day dh and I have had on holiday together for as long as I can remember so we've had a bit of a leisurely morning (dd at pony "camp" this week - not overnight - 10-4 every day) which should leave me plenty of time to get on.

Today:
share details about one's abnormal uterus with the world done
packed lunch and dd to pony camp done
morning routine inc s&s, wm on, dw emptied done
On-line clothes purchase packed up and ready to take to post done
General tidy up of sitting room done
Clean gp cage done

To do:
more laundry ad infinitum
bits of ironing to get us through week
sort bed linen
dh shirts
clean/sort/chuck/wash make-up bag(s)
recycling
sort out small storage room
general tidy of master bedroom
sort/tidy/hoover out drawers in bedroom

doesn't sound much but it is ...

Have a productive day everyone ...

Afternoon all,

Hope everyone's enjoying the bank holiday; it's cold and wet here... DH's friend is visiting today with his two children and they've all gone out to the soft play centre - giving me some time to myself. I've just finished all the work I had to do, so now have time to get on with my list for today:

Morning routine done
Finish and send translations done
Afternoon routine doing
Mission and 15 min declutter in kitchen
27 fling boogie in kitchen (if DH, DC etc still out)
Send invoice
Evening routine

optimisticmumma · 05/04/2010 15:29

Hi all

Just finished my list so I'm sitting down for a well-earned cuppa before I pick up DD and head off to Suffolk for the rest of the week.

Enjoy yourselves and I'll see you next week!

PositiveAttitude · 05/04/2010 16:10

Have a good week OM. You probably wont see this, but there you go!!

Right on here to have a little gloat catch up!

I have not actually opened the door to "my" cupboard ...... BUT I have changed he bed sheets, done the shopping and cleaned out 4 kitchen cupboards! WoOOOOooo Go me!!!! I was amazed that I managed to get 3 black bin bags full of rubbish from the cupboards. How on earth did it all fit in?? This morning I bought lots of storage boxes for all the flours and sugars and rice and pastas etc. All now looking very OCD organised.
Have decided on my list for the week, but will see what I feel like each day as to what I actually do each day.

I could get used to this staying at home malarky! Shame that bills need paying at the end of each month.

I have a roast chicken cooking and veggies all prepared - no roast yesterday due to being tied up at different times, so Easter roast today.
DS has been watching "Ace of cakes" and has been inspired. He is now making his second madeira cake to create into something amazing, apparently

Sounds as if you are all having a good day. Lovely sunshine here.
Have fun, see you all later.

DidEinsteinsMum · 05/04/2010 16:31

OK hell has broken out here and i have a list a mile long to do. I love bank holidays

So, having made live changing decisions i shall be able more. And the chaos will be tamed. Now i just need a very strong dose of courage...

MiniEggsAndMarmite · 05/04/2010 21:20

Evening Ladies, hope you enjoyed your long weekends.

. Enjoy your time with DH.

Glad you enjoyed the wedding PA and good luck with 'your' cupboard. Will send out a search party if we don't hear from you .

Glad you had a good birthday Eggie.

Maybe try Ocado OM? Doesn't necessarily cost more than tesco but potentially more relaxing (I find it so anyway). Enjoy Suffolk .

Aberita good plan to send them all out to the soft play .

DEM that all sounds radical. Hope all is well.

Sorry I haven't had a chance to catch up with everyone properly, back properly tomorrow.

It is extremely chaotic here - we've been enjoying the weekend, having naps here and there and generally lazy so very behind with things here! Oh well!

MiniEggsAndMarmite · 05/04/2010 21:23

Morning All

Today's babystep is one I need to get on with today - it is all about hotspots.

We're still in the kitchen for decluttering and the mission.

Have a good day, and those who are off work this week, don't work too hard .

missbennett · 05/04/2010 21:38

Evening all!
A very weary missbennett here - did the Easter pilgrimage walk to St Albans Abbey today - 12 miles . Did enjoy it though and a lovely service when we got there. Then my brother and 2 of his 3 children dropped in for a cuppa. So all things considered a nice day.
Well done to everyone for all the flying you've been doing - I am in awe and very . Too tired to go scrolling etc but hope you've all had a lovely day too.....

Minimal flying here but did sort out two large piles of paper yesterday, resulting in big pile for shredding/burning, a full recycling bin and some neat (and smaller!) piles - just need to sort out a filing system now.....and is only a drop in the ocean of paper clutter in which we all drown

DidEinsteinsMum · 05/04/2010 21:53

Minimarmite - pgce course is being dropped so that i can sort ds out. The course had suffered too much already and ds' ishoos have been neglected. And the only thing i have successfully done is to cause myself exhaustion and a very very messy house. So having to choose between boy and course, i am taking boy. Who knows what the future holds. Loved the teaching but couldnt focus on it, priorities and timing i guess.

eastermummy · 05/04/2010 21:58

Just wandering through on my way to bed.
DS been on PC most of the day and demanding attention for the rest. Managed to do the washing (3 loads), find the kitchen worktops (not cleaned them though) and got most of the junk off the dining table as well as doing the irong and putting it away.

Tomorrow will finish dining room - dust and vacuum as minimum and possible do the hall/stairs/landing as well.

DEM hope all is well
SC if you come out from under the bedspread I'll give you my last Rolo from my egg

eastermummy · 05/04/2010 22:01

x posts DEM. A hard decision but it looked like somehting had to give and of course that couldn't be DS. I always think things happen for a reason (although it is sometimes really hard to find!) Be kind to yourself

PositiveAttitude · 06/04/2010 07:04

Good morning,

Eggie - have I beaten you this morning?

I hope everyone is enjoying the school holidays.

MissB - Sounds like a lovely pilgrimage and service. Is it an annual thing?

MY cupboard is going to be braved today! No excuses. No delaying any longer. I will dive in and emerge when it is done! Think of how good I will feel when it is sorted. (Or just knackered and embarrassed at all the junk in there )
DSis is visiting this afternoon, which will be lovely. Lots to catch up with. So need to get sorted this morning. Also need to get to the bank to change some direct debits for work.

Have a good day everyone. Apologies for lack of messages ...... I have got up to do DH sandwiches and am now scuttling back to bed with my book.

ChairmumMiaowGoingItAlone · 06/04/2010 07:21

Hello all

DEM - hope the change eases things for you. You can always go back to it later when things are easier. (I hated my PGCE and was so happy when I quit it!)

I pulled my stomach muscles on sunday so spent all of yesterday (child free time wasted!) on the sofa resting, but it seems to have worked so I can get back to the basics at least. I did nothing more than cooking yesterday, so I've got some tidying to do now!

Today, DS is back so I'll just be doing my routines, starting with some catchup in the kitchen!

eastereggiepac · 06/04/2010 08:01

Morning all,

pa all that time I thought you were showing solidarity with me and you are just a fraud. I am very disappointed. . Roll on the teenage years.

Loads to do today. Going away tomorrow with DC's so have all necessary preparations plus tidying. We are going to see my uncle who has motor neurone disease and is going downhill quite quickly. To be fair, it is years since his diagnosis and the deterioration has been a lot slower than expected but I still think this will probably the last time he sees the DC's (no children of his own so they are like his grandchildren) . However, he just happens to live in a beautiful place with mountains to the left and the beach to the right so I am really looking forward to a change of scenery for a few days.

List looks like this:-

Washing
DW
TIdy/mop floors downstairs
DC's rooms
our room (remedial action needed here, am planning on sorting clothes mountain and changing bed. Aiming to see floor by end of day )
Pack DS off to Easter workshop at mum's church.
Pack
Tidy car out (if I don't make it out alive, it's been fun my fledgling flyers )

dem fwiw I think you have probably made the right decision. DS will really benefit from your decision and the pgce will still be there later. I hope that this decision means that you can relax a little.

Have a lovely day everyone and sc get out from under that bedspread!

DidEinsteinsMum · 06/04/2010 09:29

Not feeling great about the decision but going to spend the day reconnected with ds when i have had my filling and ds has spend the time he wants annoying his auntie.

Happy flying all. I shall be joining you soon.

pushmepullyou · 06/04/2010 11:47

Morning all

Been away and computer free for a week so good to be back (I think!)

Good holiday, but DD ill for the first half and DH for the second half so not quite as good as it could have been!

I only have 2 child free hours to work and fly in before I have to pick up DD so my list today is below.

Timesheets
Expenses
QA report
take out bins * 6
hoover
mop kitchen floor
Online shop

Haven't caught up yet, but will be back for a read later. Love the easter nicknames. Sorry to hear about the course DEM, and glad DD is OK PA. Also sorry to hear about ellies uncle. I had a relative with MN and it was very hard.

Hi to MM, EM, feetheart, chairmum, missbennett and everyone else

DidEinsteinsMum · 06/04/2010 12:07

DidEinsteinsMum · 06/04/2010 13:01
