There's no fooling an April fledgling flyer

MiniMarmite · 30/03/2010 22:26

Welcome to the April edition of the fledgling flyers where shower screens are shiny and rain never stops play.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on April 1st (no joke), but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

Splish, splash, swish and swash along to reserve your place...

MOrning all,

Had a lovely night last night. Didn't go to the cinema in the end as there was nothing on that we both wanted to watch so instead went a lovely country pub and ate some rather fantastic food. No DC's this morning but still up early because my blessed body clock told me it was time to get up. Grrrrr.

This morning it is shopping, haircut and supermarket. Going to have a quick scoot round before I go out and have already put a wash load on.

pa glad DD is ok. Am of walk on beach. We only live half an hour away from coast but still not somewhere we can just pop out to.

tallulah rest assured that you won't have much to catch up where i'm concerned. I promise.

eastermummy well done for achieving your list. My upstair is a disgrace at the moment.

ANyway, had better toddle off and get tidying although the beauty of having no DC's is that when i've done it, it will stay like that at least until they return this afternoon!

PositiveAttitude · 03/04/2010 07:44

Just flying by before I get going this morning.

Ellie good morning!! Have a good DC free time. ANd Happy birthday for tomorrow, in case I dont get back on today.

PWed - of your hens. I'd love to have some in the garden.

MrsD - Thanks for the album link. COuld be good for a laugh. Barney has certainly lost it....good, never did like him. I am a Taylor fan, but also like Baxter. Cant stand Wade, Barney and not too keen on Lewis. (Fussy, arent I)

TBelle - Enjoy the wedding. I am off to my friends wedding today too. Hope the weather is ok. The wedding is in a marquee and it could be disasterously cold and wet! Just toying with what shoes to wear. Heals that will sink in the grass, or flatter that wont look so good?

Have a good weekend everyone. No flying from me, but will try to start taxi-ing to runway next week!

Waves to everyone else!!

NettiespagettisMiniEggs · 03/04/2010 08:28

Morning everyone

already swept my kitchen floor. Joint looks like it's ok in slow cooker although it is sitting in huge pile of juices!! Morning everyone [econfused]

list
put wShing on
tumble tryer
peel spuds
try find someway to entertain dc
sweep living room floor

that'll do cos DB and family here don't want to overstretch myself!

You are all so brill commenting on everyones doings! Can I put my reason excuse for not doing so? I do love my iPhone but can't see whole screen esp whilst typing and I have a brain lift a sieve and can't remember much from one second to next! If I don't use my iPhone for mn id never get on to post!

Stillcounting · 03/04/2010 09:18

Hi everyone

Madly dashing about

Just dropped in to say

Glad your dd is ok PA

Hope you feel a bit more rested today and enjoy the wedding! Jewel-encrusted wellies???

A warm welcome to Shannaratiger

Let us know how the Roomba works Dreamteam

Aberita - no holiday here either yesterday in Brussels. School as usual. Thank heavens another term is over for now.
We also have a "green" food thing going on on Thursdays. It started in Ghent (the whole town only eat veggie on Thursdays) and I thought it was such a great idea I've incorporated it in to my meal plan. Fish on Fridays too ....

My upstairs is a disgrace too Ellie and we've got guests coming week after next

MiniEggsandMarmite I hope you won't be taking your nickname too seriously tomorrow - I'm not entirely convinced by that taste combination (as John Torode would say)

Waves to everyone else

I wonder how MissBennett got on at the palace????

Waves to Mummy and everyone else.

DD has finally received her last gold star on her chore chart (it's taken six months of her "helping" to empty dw, fold towels, water plants, distribute loo rolls, polish & dust etc) which means we are going to buy her a new bike this morning. We were going to get her a new one anyway of course but she didn't know that

In case I don't get back on here before next week ....."HAPPY EASTER" to everyone!!

Littlepurpleprincess · 03/04/2010 09:54

morning everyone. Tis 9:50 and I've already eaten half an easter egg .

My step-day dropped round a lot of stuff that was in his loft yesturday so I get the lovely task of sorting through it all this morning. Most is going to charity or in the bin I think.

Tomorrow, DP and I are both of work on the same day for the first time since christmas so I'm going to work hard to get the house so clean and tidy I won't have to do a thing tomorrow except enjoy my family.

Hope your all having a nice easter week-end and enjoying the chance to eat choc!

optimisticmumma · 03/04/2010 13:20

Afternoon everyone!

I've been awol for so long and this thread is moving so fast that I don't think I can catch up with you all.
Most important thing seems to be that PAs DD is fine! I'm glad and enjoy the wedding. If it were me I'd wear my heels and pop the flatties in the car/bag just in case!!Have a good time.

Happy Birthday to Ellie for tomorrow - enjoy your weekend!

SC - well done for your DD getting her gold star and bike!!

Well...we are down to 3 in the OM household. DD has gone to Italy with school and DS1 is away with GF's family so it's just us and DS2 who is busy making exotic puds for his grandparents tomorrow!!

As far as flying is concerned:
morning routine done
s and s done
DW done
washing doing
ironing to do
Tescos done

Had a bit of a disaster in Tescos in that I unwittingly blocked a gate that securicor needs to deal with the cash - apparently (no signs or anything in my defence). This would have been fine had my DH not gone to the dentist with the keys!
Cue panicking Tescos employees who had a 10 min slot with securicor and me frantically trying to retrieve keys from DH who had left mobile at home and was by now having xrays!!
All's well that ends well however as he had to run the 1/4 mile with the keys. Not sure I can go back to Tescos though unless I wear a disguise!!

If I don't get on again - have a lovely Easter everyone!

optimisticmumma · 03/04/2010 13:30

PA - just found your shout out! Also just realised that although DD4 is fine it was a bit of a double-edged sword for you - that'll teach me to only read the last page!
Teenage boys clothes ...well...we used miniboden for a while and Gap but then when they started to mind about that iykwim, Burtons small sizes seem very small and also Next directory (goes up to 16 I think). If feeling particularly flush we might get the odd thing at Jack Wills. Hope that helps!!

aberita · 03/04/2010 17:25

It looks like everyone has been busy today (flying or otherwise ). I feel quite reading about people living by the sea, your country pub meal eastereggiepac and Tesco (despite your incident there, optimisticmumma!) - it makes me feel quite homesick... We've very landlocked here too, eastermummy - it's a six hour drive to the nearest coast (in Italy or Croatia), which we'll be doing again in the summer. My parents only live about a mile from the sea, so the DC get quite excited about seeing the sea whenever we visit. Our nearest Tesco is in Bratislava; we keep meaning to go whenever we're there for our M&S fix, but haven't managed it yet.

We've been out most of the day - swimming in the morning, shopping/exploring a new town in the afternoon - so I haven't managed to get much flying done. At least I didn't need to worry about cooking dinner tonight, as we enjoyed the extra portions from Thursday's Indian meal. It was the first time the DC had tasted authentic (i.e. not cooked by me) Indian food and they loved it, so we'll definitely have to take them to the restaurant sometime when we're at my ILs.

DidEinsteinsMum · 03/04/2010 19:17

Ssssshhhh! wasnt enough time to tidy so relocated into ds' room. will have to deal with when get back.

its been good drying weather today so done 3 loads and looked after a poorly boy and done some shopping. Its been nice having a day off.

missbennett · 03/04/2010 19:22

Evening! Sorry I've not reported back - got back on Thursday too exhausted to do anything and couldn't be bothered to argue with DD2 about the laptop!
Tonight they are all watching Doctor Who so I've chance to catch up!
PA hope you and DD are recovering from the op.
Lots of waves to everyone else - too far along to do individual messages - will do better tomorrow.
I've done very little flying but I have seen the Queen!!!
My mum and I had a lovely day - and we were treated like Royalty too! Started by being bused to Derby Cathedral, where the service was being held, with a police escort, who held up the traffic at islands and lights so we dodn't have to stop! Very exciting Then the service itself was lovely with lots of wonderful music and singing and although it was a huge event with lots of ceremony, it still felt very personal. The Queen looked lovely - she spoke to my mum, as well as to everyone else. It was only brief, but she really gave the impression she'd have liked to have a proper chat with everyone! Then a magnificent lunch afterwards, and we ended the day with meeting my brother in Starbucks for a coffee - which was also lovely, as I don't see him often. So a fab day with memories to treasure.
Hope you are all having a good bank holdiay weekend with plenty of chocolate

MrsDinky · 03/04/2010 20:10

Evening all,

MissB - what a lovely day for you and your mum, as you say, some memories to treasure.

DEM - never mind, 3 loads of washing is pretty good Flying for a weekend I would say.

OM - oh dear, what a nightmare in Tesco.

LPP - have a lovely day off with your DP

Waves at everybody else. Hope weddings went well (and stayed dry).

Feel like I've been busy all day but house still not very clean and tidy . Have managed a bit of gardening between showers.

DS is sleeping in DDs room again, I am loitering on the computer as it is at the bottom of the stairs and it is sweet listening to them chattering away up there, but DH is out so I am shortly going to decamp to the front room and catch up with a bit of telly. Night night.

MiniEggsAndMarmite · 03/04/2010 20:28

Evening All

Just dropping in quickly to post the links for tomorrow as I'm at my parents' house!

OM I can't imagine the tesco incident helped with your enthusiasm for going there!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Eggie

MiniEggsAndMarmite · 03/04/2010 20:34

(sorry this is so early but...)

HAPPY EASTER chicks Fledglings!

Today's babystep is establishing our morning routines.

No decluttering or missions today as it is the weekend (and Easter Sunday)...I forgot about that yesterday, sorry!

Have a great day.

eastermummy · 03/04/2010 22:20

In case I don't get on tomorrow - happy birthday Eggie and happy easter everyone!

Not much flying today but had swimming and birthday party to go to then had soak in the bath and a siesta Just finished the egg hunt so going to take off bunny outfit and go to bed

Lunch with ILs tomorrow for MILs 70th birthday so going out. Apart from washing & DW will have a day off then the plan is to tackle the dining room on Monday (DH working). I seem to be tackling rooms on a best to worst basis. The spare room is a loooooooooooong way down the list

frazzled74 · 03/04/2010 23:35

missbennett · 04/04/2010 08:18

Happy Easter everyone!
I have been to the Dawn Service in our local park, which is always lovely and worth getting up at 5.30
Having breakfast now, having prepared the veggies for lunch and got a load of washing in. Will wake the troops shortly for church and then taking the day easy, as doing a 12 mile walk tomorrow - more . So let's hope it's a nice day.
Have a lovely day everyone and I hope the Easter bunny comes from Lindt

ChairmumMiaowGoingItAlone · 04/04/2010 08:51

Hello all!

I'm back flying from today. Did some more work on my control journal yesterday and the carpet got back down so the house is starting to get back into shape - and I have the motivation to keep it that way!

Today I'm hoping to make the most of the weather by:

  • doing some planting and digging
  • getting some washing done

as well as my huge busy routines

DreamTeamGirl · 04/04/2010 17:15

Happy Easter everyone!!

Shattered here as the Easter Vigil seemed even longer than usual and I totally overslept this morning!!

Been for lunch with my Grandparents and my mum, and my mum & sister have gone down to Southampton now to visit my Dad who is in hospital having treatment for his lymphoma- chemo is the smallest part of the treatment- as he was let down badly by local hospital and almost dead by the time he got admitted to SGH
Still he is finally starting to do better and is making more sense, although he seems to have lost circulation in his feet which is a huge worry, as amputation of his feet would, I think, be the final straw that gave my mum a breakdown...

But back to everything else
The Roomba is AMAZING!! Its everything I hoped for and more. I am going to call John Lewis tho as it looks like they forgot to take the money for the 5 year warranty which I wanted as I have heard they can be a wee bit unreliable.
But honestly its fabulous. Its a bit noisy - I would say about half the level of a food processor maybe- less than a hoover certainly but then it goes on much longer!! -so best done when you are out or at least when DC are not asleep, but for me thats fine as I can just set it off to do upstairs one day and downstairs the next as I leave for work for the day
I cant believe how full the bin & filter are after every use still, considering it has done the unstairs floors everyday for 3 days, but the carpets are starting to look SO much better promotional video and this is the one i have bought 530
Cost was £249

Have joined the 27 fling boogie thread also and have done my first fling which I did my clearing out one of DS' toy draws.

Today to do
Empty WM & into TD
Put on another LOL
Empty DW
Put away ironing & dry washing
Change my bed,
Change DS' bed- might do this tomorrow
Get to Andover by 7pm .... Oh crikey, better get a move on!!

aberita · 04/04/2010 17:42

Happy Easter everyone!

Not much flying going on here today, but we've had a lovely day - church followed by an Easter egg hunt in the garden, then a bike ride along the cycle path next to the river, and finally out for an ice cream and to the playground.

So sorry to hear about your Dad DreamTeamGirl - it must be very worrying for you all, though it's good to hear he's doing better now.

The Roomba looks great - I must find out whether they sell them in Austria. And there's a 27 fling boogie thread? It sounds like just what I need...

eastereggiepac · 04/04/2010 19:17

Happy Easter everyone. Another year older for me , but have had lovely birthday. Breakfast in bed with pressies and then lunch out with mum and a relaxed afternoon. Absolutely no flying today but have loads to do. Me and DC's are going away on wed for a few days to north wales to vist my uncle. Staying in a b&b which ds is unbelieveably excited about. As a result, have all the washing to do and necessary cleaning. So may have taken the day off today but willbe in full swing tomorrow.

Enjoy the rest of Easter.

MiniEggsAndMarmite · 04/04/2010 21:26

Just a FLYing visit to post the links for Monday...

Today we are thinking about the negative messages we hear in our heads!

Time to move to Zone 2, the kitchen, for decluttering and missions.

Back later for a proper catch up. Have a good day.

PositiveAttitude · 04/04/2010 21:43

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Eggie. and HAPPY EASTER to everyone else.

Wedding was wonderful yesterday. Really relaxed and friendly. I went for the heels, but they weren't too bad. Had to have buckets collecting rain water all around the marquee, but the smiles from everyone there made them invisible!!

Right, week off work coming up, so I thought i would plan a "job per day" to get this mess home back on track. Today I have tackled the hall, stairs and half the landing. Also done a really good clean of one bathroom. So well on schedule as I didn't expect to start until tomorrow. Tomorrow I want to
do the other part of the landing
Change bed sheets all round
Washing of sheets
Venture into "my" cupboard. Called "my" cupboard as DCs are not allowed into it, unless with specific permission, but confession here.....Its all "my" rubbish -loads of trash just thrown in there to stop others seeing it. One of those cupboards that I now dread opening, because as soon as the hinge creaks less than an inch the contents do an escape act and tumble out as quickly as possible all over the floor. - I will need to be very brave!!
Shopping on a very tight budget because I went stupidly slightly mad yesterday.

Hope you are all having a good Easter weekend.

TheLshapedwomb · 04/04/2010 23:20

Happy Easter fellow Fledgling Flyers !!!!

Hope you all have had a really relaxing weekend

Had lovely day today:

hasty Easter decorations/prep lunch table,
100 mile sprint around food market,
mass,
urbi et orbi,
frantic cooking,
friends,
Easter egg hunt in hailstorm (left in garden by Easter hare over here)
roast shoulder of lamb with cous-cous and morrocan-style veg stew with harrissa with first glass of red in over 40 days (whey-hey)
choccie eggs
mint tea ...
somewhat drunken Easter bell ringing competition with (toy) set of bells given to dd

dd colouring, tea, bed, bath, story routine

double bill HOuse with goats cheese celery more red wine

off to bed now

some serious Flying tomorrow as more visitors soon ...

Waves to Mini-eggs and thanks for dedicated postings over hols (and when you are at in-laws)

Happy Birthday to our very own Eastereggie!!! HOpe you've had a good 'un ...

PA am with you on the "job per day" routine this week (visitors fast approaching)...so will be with you in spirit when entering cupboards of doom - so glad wedding went well despite the rain

Dreamteam sending thoughts and prayers your way for your dad and all of you ...that must be so stressful ... glad to hear he is now getting the medical care he deserves ....

Good luck with the fling boogie Aberita

Well done Chairmum in getting everything back under control

Respect MissB for your 5.30 am start (which sounds lovely btw) AND church!! Great to hear about Her Maj and your police escort and that your ma had a lovely day ...

Well done on knicker front Frazzled

Good to "see" you relaxing for a change Mummy
hope the sorting is not too terrible tomorrow ...

Optimistic mmmmm [slowly strokes chin] about Tesco incident given that you dread going so much ... perhaps you have subconscious predictive powers?

Still haven't found dd's 'definitive' bike - although have reserved purple/silver monstrosity - why are girls' bicycles so universally disgusting?

LittlePurplePrincess am much encouraged/relieved by your early morning easter egg consumption - go girl! Hope you and your dh have had a lovey relaxing w/e.

Waves to Dinky DEM and eveyrone else I have surely missed ...

Please don't let me eat any more chocolate tomorrow

G'night all ...

TheLshapedwomb · 04/04/2010 23:24

Oh "*§§§§!!!**!!!" - that'll teach me to post when I've had one too many!!!!

It's SC here ...

now you can read about all my gruesome gynaecological issues on another thread

Stillcounting · 04/04/2010 23:28

[SC hides under bedspread and doesn't come out for a long time ]
