Are we all ok?

To help you recover from the journey the babystep today is a 'catch up' one

Today's mission requires a ladder

The Christmas mission is about decluttering

Off to put the kettle on. Back in a minute

OP posts:
MiniMarmite · 22/11/2009 22:16

that worked well

droitwitchmum · 22/11/2009 22:25

Thank you MM!

MrsDinky · 22/11/2009 22:33

Yes, thank you DWM, look forward to continuing with you!

WTD - am so with you on the dishwasher tablets, this happened to me a few months ago, think I was stuck at home with a sick child and had to ask my parents to bring round a tablet as the whole system neared breakdown! This has also been known to happen due to lack of the correct Brabantia bin liner for the kitchen bin. It's all very well using re-usable shopping bags, but there are times when you really must have a few old carrier bags to hand.

Night night everyone.

DidEinsteinsMum · 22/11/2009 23:23

oh dear, still washing uniforms for tomo and trying to plan a lesson for first thing tomo. its not going well and that is not a good start to the weeked. plus i have lost ds' moon study this is what happens when you take a week off flying and decide to enjoy your weekend. so much for the early night. ds will have had one but not me.

elliepac · 23/11/2009 06:11

Morning everyone,

Today is a new day and all that so am planning on getting back on track this week big time. Am list posting again because I haven't for the last week or so and not got anything done so it must work.

Today:-

Washing
DW on
General tidy
S/S bathroom
Hotspot in hallway
Pay some bills
Survive work (Monday...bleugh)

Have a good day everyone

quick mention to DWM - you have done a fab job this month. It would be great if you could carry on.

droitwitchmum · 23/11/2009 06:45

Good morning all - we've made the 'most active' list this morning !

Thsnks for the votes of confidence - I'll sort out the new thread next weekend so you can mark your place.

Mention of the day for DH (what has happened to them?) I told him at 10.30 that the pen lid (for my whiteboard pen had gone down the back of the cooker. He went and got cooker out (v brave) and not only got the pen top but also cleaned up the mess from behind it and all the grease that was on the sides of the cooker as well.

Babystep is about afternoon routines. I don't have one as not home until the evening

We're into the master bedroom for our zone this week. Flylady is still on last week so here it is from the digest: "Today I want you to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that
does not belong in your bedroom. Things that have gotten thrown in a
corner, on a chair or even the floor. The things that you almost
don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it
out! If it does not belong there then out it goes!

This does not mean that you have to spend three hours in your
bedroom, do what you can do for 15 minutes."
I don't think I have anything in my bedroom which doesn't belong there so I think its time to clear out a drawer instead.

Christmas mission is home blessing - so I actually did a christmas mission at the weekend without knowing it

My list for today
breakfast
DS up
make lunch
WM on
walk to breakfast club/station (in the rain

after work
shop - cornflakes, bread, coffee, dinner
clear out 1 drawer in bedroom
15 mins clear out of bills
15 mins ironing
10 mins listening to DS read
hotspot - dining table
s&s
shine sink

Have a good day everyone!

OP posts:
droitwitchmum · 23/11/2009 06:46

should have been thanks

OP posts:
droitwitchmum · 23/11/2009 07:06

You know those days when you really don't feel like going to work? Well DS has just got up and said he has a tummy that hurts (he said this last night too) so we're having a day at home and I know I shouldn't say this but - hooray, a duvet day!!!

Back later

OP posts:
elliepac · 23/11/2009 07:25

ooooh DWM am jealous...how convenient that DS is poorly on a Monday. Hope he feels better soon. In direct contrast, I don't have anything in my bedroom which DOES belong there!

positiveattitudeonly · 23/11/2009 08:18

Good Morning!

Bedroom week. Not too sure i have a huge amount that should not be in there, but I've certainly got loads not where it should be. DH says I need less clothes, I say I need! I will dive in later.

Yippee for a duvet day DWM, sorry DS is feeling poorly.

Very annoyed this morning as I emptied the washing machine and my favourite, new, thick, warm, lovely, expensive jumper has been mangled. It has a hole in it! I assume it got caught on jeans button causing the damage.

I have officially decided that I am too old to have any more nights out like Saturday night. It was definitely a case of telling my kids to do as I say and not as I do! I spent yesterday on the sofa groaning occasionally and moving as little as possible. I tried to convince them that I had a cold, not too sure how many believed me!! Head still thumping this morning. I can't believe it!! Is it because I am too old, or maybe I really have got the lurgy now...that will serve me right, won't it.

Already had a manic drying and ironing of the school uniform this morning, which I vowed never to let happen again.

Off to sort out kids for school.
Hope you all have a good day and don't get too windblown and wet.

positiveattitudeonly · 23/11/2009 08:20

What happened there...words were eaten by the evil grin!

I think I need more wardobes! was what it was supposed to say.

walkthedinosaur · 23/11/2009 08:33

POA sorry to hear about your jumper, I did that last year with one of mine, stuck it in the wash and it came out so small even the cat wouldn't sleep on it.

OK I'm back with it this morning:-

Done:

DW emptied
Beds made
sides wiped down
S/S
Supermarket/petrol
School run
One load of washing on

To do:

Paid work
Make important phone call re DS1 this afternoon
Strip and remake DS1's bed - wash sheets
Sweep and mop bathroom floor
15 mins in the bedroom

That's it have a good one everyone and I'll see you all tonight.

tibni · 23/11/2009 08:57

ds (ASD) had a "moment" last night and pulled 5 keys of the laptop so my touch typing skills are being put to the test! Lappy will have to go away for repair so I may not be around much

dh is working from home Mon - Wed and I will have to make the effort of using dd computer if I want to log on in the day - so I might try and be good! Then again Im not known for my will power so I may be about!!

Annabel1 · 23/11/2009 09:28

Morning all,
Have been away for the weekend (actually at home but dh worked a lot and couldn't get to computer!) so trying to catch up with all the flying news. Post later - sounds a very busy weekend!
Love the title and second the cheer for dwm. I don't want to sound like one of flylady's twee testimonials, but I was just thinking that our family is a much nicer place to be since we started flying. Mainly because I know that things will gradually get sorted if I chip away at it so I don't have cleaning "binges" so much. And getting into made bed is so, so lovely.

today I have
got up and dressed
dd up and dressed (ds back to bed before we managed it!)
breakfast
washing on
brought down basket of homeless items to throw away rehome

will
s and s
dinner
hoover
process washing
emails x 2 urgent ones
ballet (dd not me!)
feed christmas cake
cast on knitting
hang 2 x mirrors
catch up on flyers' weekends!
shiny sink
lay out clothes
bed early

Oh just one piece of big news - we have 2 new arrivals - new loo seats!! and brown hand towels and bathmat (white bathmat, marvellous idea!!!)
Will catch up with

Annabel1 · 23/11/2009 09:30

btw it was the old bathmat that was white, not the new one!

MrsDinky · 23/11/2009 09:38

Morning all,

Just back frm the school run, soaked.

Today's list

Take some stuff to the loft
Make a list for Christmas shopping
Make a Sainsburys shopping list
Order some stuff from amazon
Spend a couple of hours in nearest nice warm indoor shopping centre
DW - done
Change DCs sheets and wash/dry etc
15 mins ironing
15 mins removal of stuff from our bedroom, mainly toys
S+S - done

I agree with Annabel - our house is starting to feel like a more relaxed place, DH is doing his bit too, he chucked out a lot of his clutter from our bedroom yesterday

StillCounting · 23/11/2009 10:18

Morning all

Thanks for the step, Christmas mission and and the much needed zone guidance Droitwich! I hope your ds feels better soon.

Oh dear .. the Monday morning gremlins are active I see... sorry to hear about your jumper PA and your keyboard tibni (rather wish I could sabotage this keyboard (at work) this morning tbh)

lol Elliepac ...have some interesting pictures in my mind about what might be in your master bedroom now ...

I daren't list all the 'intruders' in ours , suffice to say they include: dd's wardrobe and chest of drawers (a long story) an antique (but extremely ancient) letter box basket thing, 8 boxes of dress-making materials, 2 boxes of presents, a box of wrapped presents ready to be transported or posted abroad, 6 paintings that are falling out of their ancient frames and a toy chicken called Beatrice.

Done:
morning routine plus s&s
all major rooms tidy and clean, dusted and hoovered and sink gleaming
wm & dw on

To do:
French study
more washing
15 mins decluttering in master bedroom and trying to go for 15 x 3 in home office when I get back from work.
Put away yet more piles of ironing (I'm trying to do a bit each day to keep up ironing lady's momentum)

OK everyone ... for all of us night owls who are trying to change in to larks .... tonight is the night!! (And 4 nights thereafter for the whole of this week ...)

We will be going to bed at 10.30pm .....will see you later when we can synchronise our alarm clocks!

Have a good day everyone!

QueenofDreams · 23/11/2009 10:48

Morning all.
I fell off the flying wagon yesterday. I did NOTHING! My poor sink was failing to shine last night.
Anyway this morning I have
Got up and dressed
DS breakfasted
Washing up done

To do:
Wipe down kitchen surfaces
laundry
Shine sink

This week I want to make progress in the living room and sweep the downstairs rooms.

Sorry to hear about the various disasters befalling everyone. Hope your day improves!
DWM sorry DS is poorly, but hope you enjoy your duvet day.

pushmepullyou · 23/11/2009 13:01

Just popping on from work to say Yay!! to DWM for carrying on for another month .

PAO I get 2 day hangovers now. So not fair!

SC looking forward to an early night. Although DH's brother coming round for dinner, so may be a bit hard to drag myself away from wine!

Waves to everyone else - see you all later

positiveattitudeonly · 23/11/2009 16:27

Its ok. I am not going to die! Headache lifted about 2pm! The longest hangover I have had.

I should manage early bed tonight as long as my meeting doesn't drag on too long!
No energy time for flying today. Definitely grounded. Altitude won't be good for the head. I will try again tomorrow.

Pluto · 23/11/2009 17:20

WTD you had already done supermarket and petrol by 8.30am today

Had a fair day here (flying - not weather)

I'm going into work tomorrow to sort out things for post mat leave...so tonight is a dummy run for what things will be like in Jan. That means...

lay out my clothes
pack DS2's bag for CM
make DS1's packed lunch
pack my school bag
drink water not wine
bed by 10.30pm

Annabel1 · 23/11/2009 17:39

Blimey - just realised how much happens in two days on this thread!

s and s not done
dinner done
hoover done
process washing done
emails x 2 urgent ones done
ballet (dd not me!) done - although dd's days at ballet might be numbered! She loves doing moves afterwards but looking through the window she seems to be a bit less into it than the other little angelinas. Street dance maybe?
feed christmas cake not done
cast on knitting not done
hang 2 x mirrors not done - fly lady said nothing about handling power tools!
catch up on flyers' weekends! done
shiny sink not yet
lay out clothes not done yet
bed early hmm bit too early!

Hope ds better dwm, and you enjoyed duvet day
Phew, glad hangover gone POA
CS nice list of intruders! Might post mine later, only lurking at the bottom of my wardrobe are gifts from my hen do
QOD back on horse! yay!
and good news of all the dh/dp contributions. mine being a gem.. dd now on lap so ceerioand hello to those missed

optimisticmumma · 23/11/2009 18:34

Evening all...

Crikey what a busy lot you are!

Will definitely join you on the early bedtime SC. DH going away till Thursday so that will help!
PA - am totally with you on the hangover thing. It becomes impossible to pull the wool over the teenagers eyes doesn't it?

So far today I have:
located walking boots for DS2 Geog field trip
made pizzas for tea
done marking
put on a load of washing.
emergency carol sing for this week's event!

To do :
make packed lunches for tomorrow
do 15 mins in bedroom ( I am not moving all the Xmas pressies from in there whatever the fat fairy says!)
try not to watch 'I'm a celebrity...'

Thanks DWM for continuing to organise us-it does make such a difference and I love the jolly banter on this thread.

Did anyone see the article in the News Review in the Sunday Times yesterday about Mumsnet??Sounds a scary place...

DidEinsteinsMum · 23/11/2009 19:07

So one mad day and no flying done. not doing much today as very poorly painful knee.
To do:
finish laundry from yesterday
Read book for essay
pack stuff for tomorrow.
Email tutor.

You all seem so busy at the mo. Well done to all the successful flyers. stick with it to those who are struggling and keep it simple.
With you with the syncronised bedtime. 10.30pm seems good to me but might crash earlier as wiped today.

Thankyou DWM you have done a fantastice job. loving the gentle banter of the thread. the other flying threads seem like scarey places to me. Am only just about making it into fledgeling status and they seem so effiecent flyers.

StillCounting · 23/11/2009 19:25

Ok quick note to wish everyone good luck with going to bed early tonight!

10.30pm is the agreed hour

Feel like a 9-yr old child whose sweets have been taken away (how pathetic is that!)

Enough - tis all for the good and I know we will benefit tomorrow !!!

Sorry not to "speak" to everyone individually but just realised that (as I am one hour ahead of UK) I just have time to:

Tidy up supper dishes and kitchen etc (15 mins)
Go through dd's homework and school letters -translate and read before signing (15 mins)
Evening routine including putting out clothes for morning etc (15 mins)
Do 15 mins ironing
15 mins decluttering in master bedroom
X3 15 mins decluttering in home office

Yikes!! Had better get on with it!

Can't say I feel full of enthusiasm (chores no prob, it's missing the "me time" afterwards that is going to be difficult ...)

Now I know how a monk feels

May the spirit of Flylady be with you all ....!!! Amen ....
