Are we all ok?

To help you recover from the journey the babystep today is a 'catch up' one

Today's mission requires a ladder

The Christmas mission is about decluttering

Off to put the kettle on. Back in a minute

Just a quick one: DH intends upgrading the computer to windows 7 tonight, if you don't hear from me for a while that is the reason!

QueenofDreams · 26/11/2009 12:25

Hi ladies.
I fell off the flying wagon again yesterday. I was having a bit of a 'low' day, so didn't get anything done.
BUT I am back on track today.
So far:
Nappies out to dry done
Laundry in done
washing up done

Still to do:
Tidy and sweep living room
Clear dining table
clear top of chest of drawers
Wipe coffee table
Sweep kitchen
clean kitchen counters and cooker
Shine sink.

optimisticmumma · 26/11/2009 15:30

Hi all

missions still not done! (please nag me!)but in my defence have had DB and his full of cold 5 year old over and had a lovely auntie time watching Spongebob and making choc muffins

Everything else on my rather short list is done so

See you all after parents eve for stiff G and T!

DidEinsteinsMum · 26/11/2009 17:45

Right tomorrow is uni day so no worries re teaching tomo. Am in crisis so hitting watchever looks worse here and there to try to fix some of the chaos.
Main targets:

Bedding on bed
laundry sorted and started
last weeks folded and away
tidy room
finish setting up mac book.
Look at tasks for tomo.
Early night.

pushmepullyou · 26/11/2009 21:39

Hi all

I have been struggling this week as work is horribly stressful and I seem to be spending all my time report writing and not enough flying or mning!

Have just about kept up with my routines and the laundry/dishwasher, but that's about it. Did hoover the bedroom yesterday though and clutter clear.

Need to go catch up on the thread, but also need to finish another report so might not manage until tomorrow.

General waving and hellos to everyone until then . Hope the 10:30 bed times are going well!

Pluto · 26/11/2009 21:57

Hello...where are you all?

droitwitchmum · 26/11/2009 22:27

It's a bit quiet on here tonight - hope you are all safely tucked up in bed.

Off to s&s then into bed for me

Sleep well & see you in the morning

elliepac · 27/11/2009 06:27

Morning all,

Busy day yesterday so didn't get chance to mnet . Thank God it's Friday, this week seems to have dragged on remorselessly.

To be fair, DH did very well yesterday while I was at work and I came home to tea in the oven (only jacket potatoes but that's a miracle in itself ), tidy house, clean bathroom and washing on .

Not going to do much today as have work and then am going out tonight for a meal with some friends from work so am just hoping to maintain the status quo ready for my usual weekend get back on track mission.

PMPY I too have also had a rubbish week due to work. I shall join you on the naughty step

OM auntie time sounds lovely. I had DS time last night where we just got in our PJ's really early and snuggled under a duvet watching High School Musical. Was lovely

Chica I too am a teacher. There are loads of us on here DEM Pluto OM to name but a few. Enjoy those last few weeks of mat leave

Anyway, must get moving. Take Care all. Have a good FRIDAY

droitwitchmum · 27/11/2009 06:57

Annabel1 · 27/11/2009 11:20

Morning!
No internet for two days!! missed you all and just about managed to keep flying.
Will catch up properly later, all being well but here's a list:
up dressed etc
dishwasher
15 mins declutter in under stairs cupboard (wish me luck - the worst mess offender!)
biscuits for christmas fair
clean inside one window - bathroom today
dinner - fajitas!
preschool runs
s and s
shine sink (need to lay off the window cleaner - think it's not good for it!)
load washing
unload and put away washing
dvd shop
wine, wine and more wine (girls night out!)
Good luck and I'll leave out some when they're cooked - as long as you can cope with christmas shapes in November!

optimisticmumma · 27/11/2009 11:44

Morning all - just managing a quick fly by as I'm working in an hour!!

Today:
sort out DS2s phone - new contract not workingdone
Tescos done yipppeeeee!
S and s done
mission
Quick tidy round
Make fish pie for supper

Didn't get back on here last night as we had some Parents' Evening comments to talk about
The usual thing with teenage boys - great report for subjects interested in/ find easy 'approach' issues with 'boring' subjects! Oh well! DS 2 is a good lad though and the messages got through...

Will join you for virtual wine tonight as it's my turn to pick up from DS1 (17) 'gathering'
See you all later...

positiveattitudeonly · 27/11/2009 12:05

WHERE'S MY POST GONE??????

I typed out a long post this morning and now its not on here. Either it has been deleted, but I have not got a clue why....I promise I was not rude to anyone! OR I stupidly did something and it never got posted! GGrRrrrrr!!! Far more likely, actually.

So, sorry for lack of personal posts, they were all done last time!

Meeting was OK yesterday. School being totally rubbish as usual, but we got what we needed for DD3, so can't grumble about the outcome!

I think the builders are nearing the end of their time. Well, for now, but we are waiting for some tiles that go all around the room, which have not arrived yet, so we can't actually use the room until they are on the wall. But, I think the big clean could be started this weekend! I can't believe i actually want to do this! I am so fed up with dust and dirt. I think I may get organised and tackle a room a day for the next 8 days and the kids can be nagged into doing their bedrooms. So by next weekend I could have my nice clean house back on track! Yippee!!!!

So Today: Front Lounge
Saturday: Kitchen
Sunday: Dining Room
Monday: Back Lounges x2
Tuesday: Study
Wednesday & thursday: Hallway/Stairs & Landing (huge area soo I will put down for 2 days!
Friday: Music/Computer Room
Next Saturday: Our Bedroom
Next Sunday Collapse in a heap!!

Right I am going to print that off and stick to it! I will start the coaxing to get the kids to do theirs too. DD3 has sorted hers over the past few days, DD4 attempted yesterday, but was then found dancing around like a fairy just stepping on all her stuff! DD2 shouldn't be too difficult to motivate, she generally is not too bad. DS is a nightmare and no matter how much coaxing I know I am in for a battle. He seems convinced his draws expand to the floor and playing his drums/guitar hero/computer games/football/rugby/cycling/tennis/swimming.....will always take priority. Is your DS like that OM? I am really not used to boys. (one boy to 4 girls) Are they all as untidy?? I could always confiscate any sports equipment and he could "earn" it back as her clears his room? may work???

Anyway, enough rambling. Must dash. HAve a good weekend everyone and I hope all your DH's are back home -those who were left home alone for a while- and looking after you all well.

tibni · 27/11/2009 12:23

Hello all,

Glad the meeting went ok PAO.

I had all the best intentions today but my puppy isn't well so we are off to the vets in a bit. I'm sure I am just being over anxious but I want him checked. I have had puppy and ds (asd) up since 4am so i'm not vert dynamic today.

I seem to be making some difference in the house. Most the house is presentable now and I am starting to face the difficult rooms - office and conservatory / playroom.
Yesterday I shredded 2 black bags full of paperwork from the office and binned a bag from conservatory.

Hope to get chance to stop by later.

MrsDinky · 27/11/2009 13:29

Hello, test post, like PAO I made a long post earlier and it has disappeared assumed it was due to our Windows upgrade, maybe not. Haven't got much time now, waves generally.

Good day yesterday, lazy day today, having an attack of CBA. DDs friends came round this morning and trashed the place (they are only 3).

nigelslaterfan · 27/11/2009 13:35

I am a wannabe flyer, but have just seen the sink video with all the cats and children and scary song!.......
oh Lordy!

droitwitchmum · 27/11/2009 14:11

Welcome aboard nigelslaterfan! Impressed by your bravery at watching the video - there is no obligation to do any singing I promise.
We all try to flutter (or just flap) on this thread - some do better than others, but we are all really good at supporting everyone else.
There is no particular secret to how to start flying - just try not to do everything all at once or you will burn out and be temtped to give up. Babysteps are key here. If you are able/willing to do more then great but the only person on this thread who is obliged to do anything is me as I post the links every morning (doesn't mean I do them though).
There will be a shiny new thread for December but please join in from now if you are able to do so - even if you just pop by for wine in the evenings

OP posts:
MiniMarmite · 27/11/2009 14:36

Hi Ladies

Had been meaning to spend some time catching up with everyone this lunchtime but I had to make a work call (on my day off hmm) and then think about childcare arrangements because I'm going to have to travel for work (once I'm over the logistics I will start thinking about the sleep opportunities that come with being away in a hotel)!

So, anyway, just a quick check in to say welcome to NSF and wish Tibnipup well.

Will hopefully be able check in later (although might also have to spend a proper evening with DH as we had a big row last night)!

Hope you are all having a good day. Friday, hurrah.

Did my menu planning for next week and some washing but that's all so far today.

tibni · 27/11/2009 15:18

Thank you MiniMarmite we are just back from the vet. Alfie has a raised temp and gurgling tummy - he has had 2 injections and is on 2 sets of tablets for the next week. He can only have plain rice and white fish to eat for the next couple of days.

It looks like mild colitis and the vet isn't too worried but we have to take him back if he is still being sick in the morning. He seems ok in himself. So now off to dive into the chest freezer as I know I have a bag of fish fillets in there somewhere!

Annabel1 · 27/11/2009 15:41

Just popping in -Tibni sorry Alfie's under the weather. The fish fillets reminds me of the only time my mother mde cooked breakfast on Christmas day - scrambled egg for a poorly dog! Get well soon.
And NSF - videos saound scary - not seen any and am a happy fledgeling flyer. Welcome aboard

StillCounting · 27/11/2009 15:56

Hello everyone

Had horrendous (paid work) office back-log to get through over the past two days ...so just checking in after some minimal Flying ...

It seems to have been quite a tough week for some of us but I think it's also clear that what used to be bad weeks aren't quite so bad as they were in our pre-Flying days ie we are keeping up with the basics even if we are not doing all the missions. So thank you Droitwich for keeping us on track!

How are the early night's going? It's the last official night of the experiment tonight ...

For those of you participating, are you going to continue going to bed at 10.30pm? Have you found it helpful?

I'm in two minds about it ...

A warm welcome to NigelSlatersfan - just ignore all that cutesy barftastic language on the Fat Fairy site - we all hate it too - but the underlying system is sound I promise. And don't worry, as Droitwich says, we are all maniacal feather duster wielding wierdos perfectly sane on here We just cackle wildly at the full moon and imbibe a little too much virtual red wine ...

[No-one is looking at you in particular PA I promise !!)

Anyway, don't be scared NIgelslatersfan - no denim tabard's or tan tights required!! Just adapt the system to suit yourself. Good luck with the baby-steps (yuck, hate that phrase too) -they really work.

Well done to all you teachers for getting through the week!

tibni- hope your pup is OK and just wanted to say it sounds as if I am at exactly the same stage as you. Laundry, meal planning, all main rooms under control and it's the difficult rooms that are the problem currently .... We will get there. 15 mins a day every day ....!!

PA good luck with the post-builder clear up and with persuading the dc to help!! I envy you your large landings and halls - ours are narrow and tiny - just corridors really ...dare we offer you wine this evening Seriously, sounds as though you might need it??

Oh I would kill for a portion of your fish pie right now Optimistic - it's a dark and gloomy night here ...

Congrats on your long lists Droitwich and Annabel

Flaps wings at MM Elliepac Pluto (lol at your post yesterday) PushmePU Chica and Einstein MrsDinky Queen Dreamteam and anyone I have missed ...

StillCounting · 27/11/2009 15:57

Forgot to wave at WtheD and HavingaG too!

tibni · 27/11/2009 16:29

Puppy loved his fish and rice and thank goodness we trained him to use a concrete pad for his toilet as I can hose and disinfect it - so puppy fed fine food while the dc have until dh gets home.

Still counting - I didn't think I would ever actually get there - its only when I look at the missions I realise that actually my dresser is clear (or whatever the mission is). My house isn't perfect but so different from when I started and more importantly I feel more in control even though I am working more hours and have less time.

(whispers - I have an interview Tuesday, job description was very vague so not sure if I really want it - it would be extra part time work rather than replace what I already do)

positiveattitudeonly · 27/11/2009 16:52

Tibni - What's it like to be famous then?
Glad the puppy is eating now and hope it all stays where it is supposed to be!!

Front lounge has been dusted, floor cleaned and covers off the sofas for washing! Feeling good! This place is never going to be perfect, but I agree with you both that it is better to be more organised and it is SOOOOOOO much beter than it used to be. So much easier to do the cleaning without all the clutter i used to have around the place.

Kids want tea, so see you all later for a glass of water.

walkthedinosaur · 27/11/2009 17:15

Hello just quickly popping on to say hello to you all while dinner cooking, so sorry no time for individual replies.

Having a busy time with paid work and haven't done anything other than my routines since my big blitz on Tuesday (I think). DH home for the weekend so his job is to finish tiling the hall and I've got lots of paid work on that I've just got to get my head down and do.

Got my new hours for the language assistant job, two full days Thursday and Friday which is great, not using lots of petrol for 2 hours here and there, but a bit daunting to think of teaching for all that time without a break. Have no idea what kind of curriculum the students are following, hopefully the teachers will give me an indication at some point.

Right I'm off, good luck with the interview tibni and a bit off topic but POA I've left you a message on the other thread we're on and emailed you.

Big, big hellos to all, hopefully I'll get myself sorted enough to have time to read the thread properly next week, but I can't wait to start our new Christmas name.

elliepac · 27/11/2009 17:49

Evening all, again not time for a proper catch up as am going out with the girls from work tonight so will need that time to make myself look human .

I'm with you all in that I am starting to see progress in that I no longer get to the end of the week and feel like the house is unfit for human habitation. Can always get back on top quite quickly although there are several areas in which I could do better (hotspots, bedroom, hallway pantry) but am determined to get on top of all that before Christmas.

Am going now to eat nice food and drink copious amounts of wine.

Have a good evening, will be back tomorrow to catch up with all the news.
