Are we all ok?

To help you recover from the journey the babystep today is a 'catch up' one

Today's mission requires a ladder

The Christmas mission is about decluttering

Off to put the kettle on. Back in a minute

Morning!
I'm a few flyer, I started today and what a difference!

The house had got into a bit of a state and I had got to the stage of I don't know where to start.

Today
Got up, showered and dressed
BF DD, gave her some breakfast. She is 6 months old, so only just starting with solids
15 mins in kitchen
15 mins in lounge
15 mins in Kitchen
15 mins in Bathroom
15 min cup of tea and biscuit
15 mins in kitchen. KITCHEN finished and looks great
15 mins lounge
15 mins bathroom

Gave DD some lunch and a BF
She is now tucked up in bed having a nap

I have eaten my dinner, yummy!

This afternoon
Clean up lunch mess
dust lounge
Finish cleaning the bathroom
Vacuum lounge and give it a mop, we live in Spain so have tiled floors every where.

Oh no, DD is waking up from nap after only an hour, do I go in? Do I leave her to settle herself back?

Chica31 · 25/11/2009 12:06

Hooray, I managed to get her back to sleep quickly.

Kitchen, here I come!

dreamteamgirl · 25/11/2009 12:47

Oh well done Chica!
And welcome aboard. You have made an absolutely flying (groan) start by the sound of it
Are you following the crisis cleaning?

Once you have crisis cleaned you can start the babysteps if you like and the zone cleaning that we do also
Or just drink coffee and chat

Chica31 · 25/11/2009 13:16

Hiya

Yes, I'm crisis cleaning. Got in a bit of a mess!

Lounge dusted!
Mess in bedroom tidied
Now I am sitting down with a cup of tea, then BF DD and have a good play on her mat

Still to do
Finish bathroom
Hang 2nd load of washing out when it finishes. Even in Spain it is a pain to dry it at the moment. It is a really clear day, but a bit chilly and no wind!

I looked on the website at the babysteps. They do seem a bit slow, even I'm not that bad!

StillCounting · 25/11/2009 13:22

Good afternoon everyone

Checking in late - at work with STACKS to do but just grabbing 5 mins on here while I gnaw on a ham roll ...

A warm welcome to Chica31 - well done on your cracking list today - the "15 min in each room" technique works a treat doesn't it?....I now have the world's largest collection of timers ... one for every room in the house! Toddlers love it too (once you get to that stage...)

As Dreamteam has already said, just jump in at today's baby-step - they are posted every morning by our esteemed leader Droitwich. (The baby-steps are synchronised with the calendar date and will be repeated next month too.) Once you feel the baby-steps are becoming automatic to you, maintain them and - if you have decluttering to do, add in 15 mins per day of decluttering in that week's current zone. Once you have decluttered, you graduate to maintaining baby-steps + detailed cleaning for 15 mins a day. But you can adapt the system to suit yourself really! (Apologies if you know all this already - it sounds as if you are already very well-launched in to Fat Fairy system.)

Hope the weather in Spain is better than here in wild and woolly and gloomy Northern Europe ....

Sorry to hear about the severe sleep deprivation Elliepac and DEM (hope your observation goes well today) and hope you manage to get a bit of rest today too Droitwich

Feel very guilty saying this because I had very long sleep (2nd night experimenting at going to bed at 10.30pm) and I feel absolutely DREADFUL - like a bear preparing for hibernation - I'm stumbling around dropping files and bumping in to the photocopier .... Still, I'm committed for the week so will be hitting the sack early again tonight.

Hello to tibni and Optimistic¨- you've both been very sprightly and active this morning

Well done MrsDinky - you see you DID do a lot yesterday

Dreamteam - I can see your halo shining from here

Waves to PA Annabel MM Queen PLuto Pushme Squid

Anyone seen Shona? How are you doing?

WalktheD - just realised that I haven't ask how your new job is going? Have you started yet?

Bye all, hope to be back tonight but massive work dead-line so not sure ....

Courage mes amis ...

MiniMarmite · 25/11/2009 13:41

Hi Ladies and welcome to Chica

Today is my day off with but just realised it is a new term for swimming lessons so must find our swimming stuff before DS wakes up!

Have just made a yummy thai curry (with bought paste ) for tonight. Will add more paste tonight after separating mild portions for DS and our elderly neighbour who we are feeding this week as she has been poorly .

sorted some washing out this morning and there is a load in the machine to go on this afternoon.

Breakfast and lunch things cleaned and tidyed and DW unloaded and reloaded.

Other than that I must do some online Christmas shopping in a minute and will try to do the decluttering today as I don't think I've done it at all this month (even need to check which zone we are in ).

Having some waxing (ouch) plus a manicure and pedicure tonight , can't wait (well for the M&P anyway, not so sure about the waxing! The house isn't the only thing that needs decluttering before Christmas!

Everyone is doing so well all round!

Hope you get some more sleep soon Ellie x

Wishing you luck for your observation tomorrow DEM x

optimisticmumma · 25/11/2009 14:18

Hi everyone and welcome to chica

Today:
clean large casserole dish from last night
change DDs bedding done
think about supper done (sausages )
PAY BILLS done
sort out DS2 phone contract ( he's costing a fortune as he has discovered a social life!)done
make 3x return callsdone 1 of them

zone stuff
washingdryingironingwashingdryingironing ad infinitum done

Have also:
taken bottles to bottle bank
posted bills
bought new cartridge for printer
bought a timer (needed a mobile one as I've been using the one on the oven and I can't hear it upstairs!!)
bought DS1 pop up laundry bin!

Now I have my timer I'm going to do the mission...wish me luck - I'm going to need it! My wardrobe is like SCs basement and MMs pantry!!

Wave to :PA, DTG, Tibni, Annabel, DWM and everyone else on the thread, Hope your days are going well!

positiveattitudeonly · 25/11/2009 16:03

Hi all,

Just a quick catch up on here.

DEM you were late last night! hope the observation went well, though.

Ellie - hope DD is feeling less "blocked" and you manage a good night tonight.

Welcome to Chica. You sound as if you are getting really organised.

MM - Glad to hear you so upbeat and good on you with all the pamapering. -lol at the decluttering "other" areas! WOuld the fat fairy approve????

Waves to OM, HA, DTG, DWM, SC, Dinky MrsDoolittle......oh and everyone else!!

I have made an effort to clear and clean the kitchen each morning so that at least one room is presentable each day. So along with S&S i Do C&C! A delay with the builders so I think we probably have another couple of weeks and then I can really clear all the dust properly and get back on track. Looking good so far, though. Still surviving with just one bathroom between us (2 adults, 3 teenagers and 1 12yo). Sort of got into a bit of a routine in the morning, but just one minute over anyone's alloted time and things go downhill very quickly. Can't wait go back to having 3 toilets/bathroom/shower-room.
I got to the decorator first so the paint is a sort of cream colour (yy29.....) No fancy name, just a number!

Pile of ironing to get through tonight, then another evening when DH won't be back til 10, so probably be talking well past 11! These early nights are just not happening at the moment.

DD3 wants laptop, so have to go.

See you all later for a virtual glass - totally off RL alcohol. I have done the "never again" talk to myself after my disgusting hangover behaviour on Saturday. I am too old for this now! I need to be sensible and set a good example to teenagers!

Chica31 · 25/11/2009 19:42

Hi DEM I guess you are a teacher, me too,on maternity leave at the moment. I hope the observation went well they are so nerve racking. I always seem to end up doing something stupid that I would never normally do.

Well, my first day of flying has been fab. My house is looking loads better and the 15min slots are great.

Kitchen is cleaned
Lounge is dusted, vacuumed.
2 loads of washing done and dried
Bathroom half cleaned, really needs a bit more of a scrub tomorrow
A bit of ironing done, need to finish tomorrow
plus one hour of tutoring to a year 9 boy. Arggh teenagers, that's why I teach keystage 2!

Must remember to shine the sink before bed.

Enjoy a glass of wine and crisps everyone!

elliepac · 25/11/2009 19:49

Evening all, please forgive me if I don't respond to individual posts but, frankly, am too knacker. Just a quick word to DEM hope observation went alright. DTG you are so right I felt rotten this morning and could quite happily have pulled a sickie but conscience got in the way of that (damn you conscience ) and went in to work and it is amazing how auto pilot just kicks in. It is only now as I sit down after DS swimming lesson that I can feel the energy drain from me...even my fingers feel tired.

Am going to take OM's sage advice and get a very early night (hopefully in my bed this time and not the armchair ) and pick up again tomorrow. Having said that DH has day off tomorrow and has stated that I shall come home to a spotless house. Hmmmmmm we shall see. Are we taking bets on that. I reckon 2-1 he won't do it (oh the faith I have in my DH ).

Oh and a very warm welcome to the madness to Chica sounds like you've made a great start

Big waves to SC MM WTD tibni HAG PMPY and everyone else.

Take care.

Pluto · 25/11/2009 20:18

An attack of the cab's has hit me in the last 48 hours - I blame it on the weather...but I have done a few things today:

ironed for 45mins
2 loads in the w/m
unloaded / loaded d/w
kitchen hotspot
s/s - that's an achievement for me as I can't quite work out how to best put that in my morning routine before the school run

babyswim

I have also made my bedtime by 10.30pm every night this week.

However I have also watched 3 episodes of House today when DS2 has had a mega sleep. I could have used my time much more productively but as I sorted the bottom of my wardrobe on Sunday I guess I have some time banked.

DEM - I hate being observed! I hope it was OK and you can regroup a bit tonight.

MrsDinky · 25/11/2009 21:02

Hi everyone,

Well, I nearly namechanged to MrsGrumpy last night, but I CBA. Back to MrsDinky today (Sky box fully functioning, took no chances with tea and gave the kids spaghetti hoops on toast). Too much still to do for individual hellos tonight, but waves generally, and big hugs for anyone who is exhausted juggling work and home, sounds like there are a few.

Today I have

School runs - done
Taken DD out to various places including a cafe for lunch (saves on home mess) - done
General tidying (15 mins or so)
15 mins decluttering car (with help from DD) - done
MAde a few phone calls/emails - done
Processed washing - just needs putting away
Washing up/shine sink - done once, needs more washing up doing
Been at the amount of emails Flylady is sending me, very confusing

I planned my menus this week, and have managed 2 consecutive days without darkening the door of Sainsburys, which I am very pleased about. Having a "use the contents of the freezer week", I need to add to my morning routine "get whatever out of the freezer early enough for it to defrost" as I keep forgetting.

Off to finish flying and hopefully go to bed by 10.30, night night.

DidEinsteinsMum · 25/11/2009 21:09

evening ladies. Very touch by all your kind and positive words.

Unlike most of you i am only just starting down the teaching pathway an one the first step working for nqt so the observation was to help with a tricky class and improve my basic classroom management skills. It was more the fact that i wasnt hitting that particular group with lots of short snappy activities and was letting them go free reign and do posters/group work plus a quick hit of vocab work. With before and after tests to see if they had imporved by going through it verbally. my suspicions are not and that they will improve more after a concept builing exercise next week. Needless to say the pupils who normally drive me mad with their behaviour and why the observation was going on to start off with were little angels and mostly on task and not causing a problem. so sod's law really. suspect there is still areas where i can improve but teachers dont become great in a few months (only started back in september)

Having just had an hours kip in ds' bed with him i am going to have 10mins catching up and email before bed.

Welcome chica. Babysteps are deliberately slow and simple so they easily become habbit and make it more likely to stay changed!

Keeping flying ladies you are all doing so well.

droitwitchmum · 25/11/2009 21:24

Good evening everyone.

Got RL glass of wine tonight

Now - what have you all been up to today...

ellie hope you get a better night's sleep tonight. Are you leaving DH a list for the morning (or the links to the fat fairy?)
OM hope you managed to find your way out of the wardrobe
tibni impressed by you going to the gym. I used to really enjoy going before DS - impossible now with DH work pattern
DTG hope weigh-in was ok
welcome chica. I can't believe how many new folk have joined us over the last week! Thanks for the wine and crisps
SC wise words as always. Are you ready for bed yet?
MM you sound like a really good neighbour. Hope she enjoyed the curry
PAO if you have teenagers I think it is your duty to embarass them as much as possible
Pluto give yourself a break and look at what you have done and not what you didn't get to. 45 mins ironing is a lot by anyone's standards
MrsD you can't beat spaghetti hoops on toast! (or does sausage & mash just do it?) What is coming out of your freezer in the morning?

OK DEM put us out of our misery - how di today go, we NEED to know!!! Hope all was well. Large glass coming your way and chocolate cake with sprinkles. Hope you can get an early night

Who's missing? WTD Annabel Queen PMPY Squid HAG Shona and anyone else out there - hope you are OK and have not got washed or blown away. Even if you cba pop in and say hello.

Off for soak in the bath with my wine - see you in the morning!

droitwitchmum · 25/11/2009 21:27

x post with DEM. I'm glad you survived the day. You can't beat a cuddle in bed with a DS can you?

Race you to bed (that could be taken in completely the wrong way)

ironing 15 mins

DS bath
s&s
read 10 mins with DS
shine sink

ought to do some more but bedside table already clear and I know I have a long day at work today so basics only for me today.

Have a great day everyone

Chica31 · 26/11/2009 07:11

Hi everyone. DH came in shocked last night, he couldn't believe we had an organised house for a change! We are both messy at home. Funnily enough we are both teachers and our classrooms are immaculate, maybe you can only be tidy in one place at a time.

Today's list
hand-wash DH's jumpers DONE Why did he buy hand-wash only ones. ggrr!
Ironing done
1 load of washing on waiting for it to finish
BF DD and give breakfast
Tidy kitchen after breakfast
Today's mission
finish cleaning bathroom
water plants outside
DD lunch

Then out for the afternoon.
Meeting DH for lunch
Then going to watch year 5 concert at school. I taught one of the classes last year when they were year 4's. I'm going back to work in January to teach a different class now they are in year 5. Another teacher is having her baby in January so I was persuaded to go back a little earlier than I might of hoped, but I feel OKish about it now.

I managed to get so much done this morning as DD slept until 8am. DH is playing with her now before he goes to work. A good nights sleep makes ALL the difference

StillCounting · 26/11/2009 07:36

Ah ... tea & toast .... thankyou Droitwich

Good morning everyone

Just reporting in. How is everyone finding the early nights? I'm afraid I feel like death warmed up (partly, it has to be said because dh is away and I sleep more lightly then, also dd woke in the night coughing a couple of times) but largely because having more than 7 hours seems to put me in a coma ...

However, must get cracking ...

Have so much work-work plus house-work today that I don't know where to start but Flying basics done and now off out to do school run + office errands such as post office and stationery shop ...

See you later everyone. Hope you have a good day ....

positiveattitudeonly · 26/11/2009 07:40

Morning all.

Last night was not a total success. I got on guitar hero with DS and we kept on doing "just one more". After about 90 minutes the ironingwas still glaring at me, so I went into another room!! Then DH came home about 10 and we sat discussing a meeting we have today until well past midnight.

So today I need to do the ironing. Top of list!
I am feeling really restless today as we have an important meeting at 2pm at DD3s school which could be really tricky and full of stress, so I will channel my restlessness into fat fairy energy and use it well. (or on MN???)
What is it about this thread - You are all teachers! I hope you are all nothing like the ones I will be seeing today!

Hope you all have a good day.
CAtch up later.

optimisticmumma · 26/11/2009 08:14

Hi everyone...

Thanks for the tea and toast DWM. I have to confess I never made it into my wardrobe yesterday - life got in the way! Will do it today tho as bedside table is OK!
SC - I'm totally failing on the early bedtime because my DH is away too and I find it impossible to get to sleep!
I'm really going to have to motivate myself today as I am soooo tired.

S and S
defrost supper
process washing
ironing
hair cut and colour (yippee)
missions
DS2 parents evening

That's all for today I think...
PA - I hope the meeting goes as well as it can. You have such a lot on your plate atm. Look after yourself and go easy on yourself won't you? Big hugs your way... and to DD3 too!

Catch you all later....

MiniMarmite · 26/11/2009 08:57

Morning All

I'm the same as you OM - table is clear but I only spent about 2 mins on my wardrobe yesterday so I'd better do that.

Off to do some paid work now.

Have a good day all.

MrsDinky · 26/11/2009 09:29

Morning all,

We have got a lot of teachers on here haven't we, I was thinking that too. I have been toying with the idea of teacher training myself, but not sure if I'm up to it TBH. My last job was very stressful (to the point where it was making me ill) and I definitely need a total break from work right now, but maybe longer term.

PAO - good luck with your meeting
Chica - hello, welcome and I agree totally about the jumpers, DH bought a casmere one in the sale last winter and didn't think of that.
DWM - sausage and mash would do it for DD, but DS will not touch anything that he suspects originates with a potato (except crisps, grr).
DEM - fingers crossed for good feedback

Waves at everyone else.

Big list for me today, need the 15 mins per room approach I think.

Kitchen, DW etc, clean counters, clean floor
Bathroom - clean bath, general tidy
Washing - on
Hoover - whole house,
Stuff to loft
Order a bouncy castle for DD party
Order logs
Ring my old job to ask where my P45 is
Meeting at school, planning Xmas fair
Plan what will be needed for 27 x 5 years olds to make biscuits to sell at above fair
If time, go to town, buy a timer to carry round the hosue and a few other odds and ends.

I'd better go and get busy, see you later

Chica31 · 26/11/2009 09:34

Oh well day not going to plan

Plants outside are watered. We have loads on the terrace in tubs.

washing is done and drying

kitchen clean and sink shiny

Mission done, but only took 2 secs as it was cleanish.

But floor half vacuumed and bathroom not touched. DD suddenly started screaming and won't let me put her down. She is normally really contented, so not like her. I think she is teething, it's the first one. I've given her a bit of the Spanish version of calpol so hopefully she will feel a bit better soon. Grumpy babies and school concerts do not mix, lol I'll be the one standing outside the theatre.

Pluto · 26/11/2009 09:52

Chica I will be joining you in the return to the classroom post mat leave in January. I don't know how I feel about this. CM is fantastic - I'm happy to leave DS2 with her and DS1 is used to the routine of me working, but I just don't know how I actually feel about working again after a year out of it. I'm a Head of Dept and the person who has been doing it in my absence is really good - so I'm feeling a bit paranoid and inadequate.

Anyway, here's my list:

d/w unloaded / loaded done
beds made done
dressed to shoes and face on done
school run done
bag packed for day out with DS2 done
found car keys which have been missing for 48 hours done

to do
s/s (still can't fit this in early enough in the day)
hot spot in living room
process laundry and ironing and get 1 load in w/m
declutter one bedside table

get light bulb for outside light so we don't get sued by someone breaking their neck as they come up the path to our house

PAO guitar hero over ironing any day!
