Everyone welcome!

Here you can, for one month:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

As Christmas is approaching I'll also post Christmas missions.

I'll post links early in the morning on the relevant day while I'm, making the coffee and brewing tea.

Good luck!

Morning all,

I do apologise for my incredibly miserable mood yesterday but I also thank you for all the support. (and wine and cakes) DH and I went down the following route:-

Inane conversation about DC's
DH " you alright?"
Me "Yep, you alright?"
DH " Yep, what's for tea"

Oh, the trials and tribulations of married life

I've figured that today can only be better than yesterday plus the added bonus that it is Friday!!! As far as flying is concerned, will make a totally fresh start at the weekend.

Have a good day everyone!

droitwitchmum · 13/11/2009 06:53

I'm making very strong coffee if anyone wants one, been up since 2.00 am with puking DS1. He has since informed me that the last time I made spaghetti he spent the night throwing up as well (he's right) so he's never going to eat spag bol again!

Also there is a high pitched alarm noise coming from my Sky dish that is now making me want to get a ladder and baseball bat and bash the thing from the wall. I'm a happy cheery soul today aren't I?

Have got dressed and made breakfast - that's it.

Can't think of what I've got to do today but kitchen floor has got to be on the list.

I do however have a comprehensive list for DH to do over the weekend :-

Allow me to have a lie in Saturday AND Sunday while he spends quality time with DS's.
Plaster the cupboard under the stairs.
Stain the door for the cupboard under the stairs.
Tile my hallway.
Fit a radio to my car because DC's are sick of my singing on school run.
Fix this bloody satellite dish.

I'll let you know how he's got on on Monday.

Have a good one everyone.

positiveattitudeonly · 13/11/2009 08:08

Morning everyone!

Date night, Here, it is MIL birthday, so arguements about whether I should go round and see her - not been to her house for 8 years, no love lost between us!! I am sure I can find something really important to do, like clear my handbag instead!

elliepac - I hope today is better. Have things thawed more today? Cat poo!! One of our cats is totally confused by the moved wall/door and the fact that his cat door to the garden was the bathroom window which has now been moved. He has decided to protest to the changes by pooing exactly where "his" window used to be. Every blardy morning for a week. Who would have animals??

Mrs Dinky - Very impressed with your kitchen work yesterday. I daren't lift my microwave!

SC - Glad you now have light! And well done with all that washing.

Annabel - COme on in. We are better than the 10 emails a day. Come and join our madness.

WTD - I'd love to meet you. Someone who has taken longer than us!!! We moved in 9 years ago with a five year plan to get the house completed. I think we are just starting on year 2!! But all those things that I thought were awful when we moved in and I could not possible live with are all still here and I have sort of got a blind spot to them all now. Sometimes I wonder how others see the place -ie: no plaster on some walls, no wallpaper in hallway, no proper flooring in dining room, etc, etc.

Waves to DEM, OM, Hells, DTM, MM, HA and anyone else I have missed.

I managed to clear my ironing pile yesterday .
I had got all fed up with lots of little niggley things yesterday, and we were due to a meeting in the evening. We were just going out the door when it absolutely poured with rain, so decided to have an evening of family guitar hero tournament instead. Much more fun and ended the day feeling so much better with life.

No list from me today. I must catch up with work first.
I'm off to London tomorrow morning for a ladies day with friends, so early start (5.30). Although the gales might put paid to the whole plan as we need to get a boat at 6 and if weather is bad they don't run - the most annoying part of living on an island!!

Hope you all have a good producive day. I wonder who will find the most small change in the bottom of their handbags?? I'm off to look for mine!

positiveattitudeonly · 13/11/2009 08:32

WTD - X posted.

Sorry your day has started off badly. Lots of hugs on the sofa today!
LOL at spag Bol. He will be scared for life!

havingagiraffe · 13/11/2009 08:38

Morning all

Coffee over here please. I am so glad it's Friday. Definite lie ins for me and on Sat night I get to sleep in the spare room and have a WHOLE night off from DS - hurrah hurrah!

Ellie at your post row 'chat' with DH. Sounds very familiar, after so many years sometimes you just can't be bothered to trawl through the row again and just want to get back to normal.

WTD lol at your list for DH as I imagine him walking through the door and getting "Hello Mr Dinosaur (peck on cheek), here's your list. Get to it!" Also what did you scent your candles with?

Annabel I promise we are not that scary and are really quite normal

PA Fingers crossed for the weather. Ladies day in London sounds lovely. Cleaning out your handbag is FAR more important than seeing your MIL. - We are currently organising our Xmas present delivery trip to the Midlands and are arranging a hotel so we don't have to stay with either MIL or FIL. Will have to make it a nice one, to compensate for the dreadful company during the day.

Mrs Dinky You really have done well with your kitchen this week and you did inspire me to clean my cooker hood and put the thingy in the DW.

SC Did you do your laundry?

Waves to everyone else xx

Not really organised enough yet to do a list but imagine that ironing will feature. Today's mission already done - yey! I love Kitchen week - it's so easy.

optimisticmumma · 13/11/2009 08:43

Morning all. Large cup of tea for me first before I hit the coffee!

DWM I'm so relieved that I did pick up the boys before reading your post at 21:42 last night!!!! They were very wet and very dirty! This morning my car smelled horrendous!

Ellie glad you are feeling more like it! I always send a text of the 'you alright?' variety to DH now if we have a row first thing, purely because it makes me have a better day!

WTD crikey that's a heck of a list for DH! Is he superman? I will be showing it to my DH when he complains that I've asked him to replace a lightbulb this weekend!

PA have a great day in London! Will you be wearing black trousers and a green top???

Yesterday, I did manage all my laundry. SC you're not supposed to blow up your basement to avoid it you know!

Today:

coffee with friend
ironing (again)
school for quick emergency carol practice with KS2 (don't ask!)
kitchen declutterx2
Tescos ( you know what you've got to do, don't you?)

Welcome Annabel

Hi to MM, HAG, Pluto, Mrs D, DTG, DEM and anyone else I've missed....

walkthedinosaur · 13/11/2009 09:11

POA I raise you on no plaster on walls, how about no plasterboard on some of the landing walls and only concrete floors.

OA DH isn't superman but I do like him to cram as much into his weekend home every fortnight as he would get through in a week. Also I really want my house finished. He's got another job now I've just pulled all the aerials out of the Sky box trying to get this noise to stop outside, noise still going on but now no TV noise to drown it out and sick child on sofa with no TV. DH due to walk through the door in 30 mins and counting.

And DS1 is looking over my shoulder and wants to a put smily face so this is from him - actually it's a sad face because the Sky box is broken and this one because he's feeling sick not because he's envious.

havingagiraffe · 13/11/2009 10:47

Please someone get me OFF the internet!

Annabel1 · 13/11/2009 11:17

oh all right - you've persuaded me! What a fab welcome! No idea what my next baby step is but just looking at my shiny sink makes me smile. Am up and dressed, tho no shoes! Might buy a house coat and slippers to be so very 1950's!
Off task a bit - have hoovered downstairs, wiped loo and basin in bathroom. I do know where my hotspots are tho I can't bear to look at them yet! But according to the plan I don't have to yet - hooray!
Am going to try hard to follow this plan. The best thing is that it makes me feel like an unrealistic perfectionist rather than a shoddy housewife!
Good luck today adn if anyone wants one I'm making chocolate cake later!

Annabel1 · 13/11/2009 11:21

I meant some - I'm afaraid I can't spare a whole chocolate cake each!!

MiniMarmite · 13/11/2009 13:44

Hello Everyone

Annabel glad you posted, eagerly awaiting my whole slice of choc cake

WTD sounds like you had a bad night. Thank DS for the smileys!

OM have you been to Tesco yet? Sorry, I hate nagging. Don't forget to buy yourself plenty of these as a reward.

Ellie glad things are looking better today

Just got soaked in the rain on the way back from toddler group/lunch with friends.

My list for today:
washing in, on etc - halfway there!
putting dry clothes away or in ironing pile if needed - done

  • make beds - done
  • dw loaded and on - done
  • hotspots - done

then...

  • post office
  • shops to get shirt for DH
  • packing for weekend at friends, clothes out for morning
  • supermarket for a couple of things
  • make dinner, clear away etc
  • change beds
  • shine sink
  • remind neighbours to feed cat
  • handbags...good one, mine are terrible

kitchen floor recently mopped so skipping that one.

I am starting to feel quite panicky about my Christmas shopping...I may need some nagging!

MrsDinky · 13/11/2009 16:13

Hi everyone,

Went out straight from school run today so no time to post earlier

PAO and WTD you are making me feel a lot better about all the jobs that have never got done in our house either (8 years in and still haven't redecorated half of it, or done various repairs). Problem is none of it is so bad that we absolutely have to do it, it is mostly cosmetic or non-urgent, as you said PAO we're so used to it that we don't notice anymore (this room has a blue carpet and orange walls for example). Several of my friends have moved to huge, immaculate new houses in the last year or so, which makes the contrast all the greater. Oh well.

Hello to Annabel, I only started this at the beginning of November but it has already been very helpful with getting my house cleaner/tidier, hope it works out for you too.

WTD like your idea of a list for DH.

Wave to everyone else

My list today has been as follows:

DW on, done and emptied - done
Filing (the ongoing saga) - 1 hour - done
Go to friend's immaculate palace for coffee - done
Class assembly at school - done
Clean bathroom - to do now
Out for curry with friends - later!

I cleaned the floor on Monday when we had a power cut and couldn't do washing, ironing, hoovering etc, so excusing myself.

Have a good Friday evening everyone

elliepac · 13/11/2009 16:26

Evening,

a far better day today as far as life in general goes, had a lovely day at work and no rows with DH...still no flying though. Am going to try tonight.

MM would nag you about Christmas shopping but since i have only bought the one present (albeit the expensive one (wii for DS)) am in no position to whatsoever

Annabel..welcome to the madness. We are far more fun than the e-mails and far more knowledgable . Chocolate cake would be fabulous...I shall be having a bottle glass of wine later, please feel free to help yourself

WTD I like your style....Tell DS1 we loved his smilies and tell DH to get on with it . Hope your day got better and DS is over the worst.

OM how did the carol practice go..DS is in the school choir and all power to you primary teachers because I do not know how you do it...remember words, sit still and sing at the same time

HAG you are so right about the post row situation, after 14 years together just about it's easier just to move on

SC thanks for the wine...always helps in any given situation I believe

Big waves to everyone else

elliepac · 13/11/2009 16:29

oops x-posts with MrsDinky - have a nice curry

StillCounting · 13/11/2009 16:55

Hi everyone, how's things?

First time I have had the opportunity to post on here today owing to very early start with builders then on to work.

Glad the 'entente cordiale' has returned to Elliepac household and things are looking a bit brighter for you today ...

POA and WalktheD - I can raise you on 8 years, no electricity at all on two floors, a huge crack across the entire kitchen floor, missing floorboards, numerous holes in walls (where there is actually some wall, it's either bare plaster or covered in 14 layers of scary wallpaper) .... mouldings that fall off the ceiling at will and hit you on the head ... no carpets or curtains ... anywhere .... oh and did I mention the ghost?

It's really true PA what you say about developing blind spots - we had three sacks of concrete sitting in the hall for near enough two years and they (almost literally) became part of the furniture Wishing you calm seas and fruitful shopping tomorrow! Hope you have a lovely day!

WalktheD - I hope your ds is starting to feel better this evening. I am very impressed with your dh's list btw !! (You may have started a trend posting it on here .) I might read it out to dh and take note of his reaction .... which will probably be something along the lines of "oh, but I was planning to spatch-cock a badger this weekend and serve it on a bed of mousseline de pomme with cepe mushrooms and a port and blackcurrant jus" Good luck with it all ...[waves to your ds1]

Droitwich - um, am I please excused from today's missions if I can't (a) see my desk or (b) find my handbag(s)? Thanks for the steps, I will join you for early morning coffee next week....!!

Optimistic - how was the dreaded supermarket trip?? Yes, lol, blowing up the basement was all part of my master plan to minimise washing...[wild cackling] ... unfortunately it didn't go quite as planned as following the electricians' visit, my laundry piles are now beautifully illuminated under strong flourescent lights .... Well done with your laundry though!

Pluto - have large extended family and we do the same re: only buying presents for dc - much easier all round

Thanks for chocolate cake Annabel - it's delicious! Correct form of Fat Fairy attire is denim tabard, tan tights and pink feather duster ...

Well done on your kitchen this week Mrs Dinky

Waves to HavingAG and MiniM (will nag you about Christmas shopping next week) Einstein and everyone else!!

Only had time to try and finish list from yesterday:
continue LAUNDRY - ALL DAY!!!! yep, I'm still doing it

  • 40 mins ironing done + 40 mins more today
  • tidy master bedroom (get's easily out of hand if not ruthless every day)fully done now
  • start on home office (again) - lots of separate 15 min blitzes FAILED AGAIN
  • start actually doing something about St Nicolas (6th Dec when dc get their main presents here) and Christmas started finished!!
  • order a couple of presents on-line done some more*
-French study - to do this w/e
  • plan for work meeting tomorrow - did 75% of it and 'winged' the rest ...
Quick food shop tomorrow done

Right, off to cook supper, tis fish tonight ...

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

StillCounting · 13/11/2009 17:01

Um, correction, didn't mean to give impression I have finished all Christmas organisation - far from it - just all prep for St Nicholas on 6th....

Forgot to congratulate Annabel on her shiny sink too!!

Annabel1 · 13/11/2009 17:17

Wow, Stillcounting forty minutes ironing! And mini marmite (said in tess and brucie style) keep mopping!
I think I need to do babysteps in congratulating everyone on their work - but I am happy to continue making cake in large quantities while I learn! or we could sneak the half price tin of choccy biccies I bought today which is meant for playgroup! as long as no one tells dh!
My list never got made today but I did:

Breakfast
Hoovered downstairs
out to signing class
met dh for lunch (yum)
sainsburys
emptied dw
load of washing on (though it's out hung, ironed and away that are my challenges!)
Later will
do bedtime
fill dw
shine sink
tidy toys
eat
drink
sleep

DidEinsteinsMum · 13/11/2009 18:43

Evening All!
After a reasonable nights sleep and ds bribed with tv so am thinking light hearted and practical tonight. Lesson planning with resource construction - need to tackle the fact that a large proportion of my students have managed to complete a topic without either learning the vocab or are not able to apply it despite knowing what the vocab is. Tricky as it is my assessed lesson. So newly armed with my mother's laminator my flying tonight will consist in key words/ concept card construction.

Congratulation to everyone for working so hard. Welcome and congratulations to Annabel!

Whilst I am here the list for the weekend is:
shopping
Trip to pets at home
Garden centre
Lesson plans for y8
topic covers y8
lesson plans y7
topic covers y7
key words y8
key words y7
Risk assesments y8
Any other stupid bit of paper that i have forgotten.
Laundry (last weeks) - away
Laundry (this weeks) - wash, dry, fold, iron, away. (But tbh if its clean its all that matters.
Play with ds.
Ds' room tidy.
Cake made.

I thought i had a quiet weekend

optimisticmumma · 13/11/2009 20:33

Eveniung all... Pinot grigio open but you'll have to hurry up as it's going fast.

You'll be pleased to know the carols went better than expected Elliepac. (We had a week's notice from local nat trust place to open their Christmas festivities as other school had pulled out - we pride ourselves at turning on a sixpence!!!)

Tescos - Done Thanks for the nagging !

Laundry done except for one lot that has been on my line for a week and I can't face it, it's so wet!!

Kitchen - done ish

Now going to watch advance episode of Spooks on sky...

See you all over the weekend.

dreamteamgirl · 13/11/2009 20:36

Oooh cake and biscuits! Ypou are going to fit in well here Annabel

I am pretty tired as DS is poorly- the dreaded swine flu by all accounts . He was up from 1am- 3.30 am and then I had to get up and drive 60 miles to Bournemouth ARGHHHHHH

Anyway he has gone to his dads now so I can chill a bit.
Sorry to tired to say hi to everyone so just 'later all'

positiveattitudeonly · 13/11/2009 20:56

Evening all.
Third attempt, as weather knocking power and internet, so keep losing posts.

LOL at the idea of list for DH! - or rather he would LOL and more!!!! No hope here.

After a bad week at work this morning I was getting stuck in to a rather large backlog, fighting through inch thick dust from builders when I was told to evacuate the builder due to asbestos being found!! Haven't got a clue when I may see my office again, or be able to actually do anything. Still, may mean a few days off to "relax" in a different building site next week! Wet room is coming on and I think we are over the worst of the dust, now just have plaster footprints all around the house.

Made bed today, with nice clean white cover. 30 minutes later I followed a Plaster/muddy wet paw trail to find one cat cosy on my nice clean white duvet cover , now with paw patterns all over it!!!!

No wine for me tonight. Early start in the morning and IF the boats are running I think I may be in for a bumpy crossing at 6am.- YUCK!!! Absolutely foul weather here - boats stopped at the moment, not sure if things will improve overnight. I won't be happy if our day is cancelled!

OM green top and black trousers maybe, book in right hand not needed, going with friends, not planning on meeting any "stranger" lol!

Evening all, Enjoy the wine and cake and I will catch up later on the weekend.

Pluto · 13/11/2009 21:56

OMG what a wet day! Today I...

Did a massive food shop at Sainsbugs - took ages to put away in kitchen cupboards

Wrapped Xmas and Bday gifts for friend's kiddies beautifully and then put them in a lovely brown paper wrapped box to send tomorrow

Cleaned freezer drawers

Made a beef casserole

tidied living room for 5823 time this week

looked at the ironing and sighed a lot.

In spite of the weather had a nice day and tomorrow perhaps the ironing pile will be diminished.

Cheers everyone

pushmepullyou · 13/11/2009 23:38

evening all

I have been rubbish today, but excelled yesterday with yet another shelf of the cupboard of doom cleared necessitating (is that even a word ) 2 trips to the tip with a very full car. I cannot begin to describe the doomliness (def not a word!) of my cupboard.

Am now at DH's parents and sneaking a few mning minutes so haven't managed to catch up with the thread yet.

Am glad you are feeling better though ellie. Well done with the laundry stillcounting. I have done 15 loads this week . bloody baby led weaning . PAO I have constant muddy paw prints on my duvet and sheets. I am trying to think of them as a design!

DEM that's quite a weekend list. Jaw dropping with admiration! DTG your poor DS. Hope he's feeling better soon and you enjoy the time to yourself.

Welcome Annabel that's a very impressive list - puts me to shame!

Hi to OM, MM, WTD and everyone else that I've missed!

Gosh I'm drunk. I'm going to regret that in the morning when DD gets up at 6! Please feel free to help youselves to the remnants of my bottle of red

elliepac · 14/11/2009 07:48

Morning all, coffee on (very strong and black for PMPY) and tea brewing.

Today is the day I climb back on the wagon. The house is a disgrace and am back to the point where if anyone turned up I would be mortified so here is my mammoth list for today:-

DW loaded
Washing x lots
Tidy kitchen (would be good if could actually see surfaces )
Tidy dining room
Tidy living room
Tidy hallway
change beds
S/S bathroom
Tidy bedrooms
Meet mum for coffee
Tesco
Skip Trips
MIssions possibly

Today is the big tidy up after the week from hell, tomorrow shall be the cleaning.

PA hope you manage to get your day out.

SOme impressive lists yesterday...Annabel I am so with you on the washing front. I have no trouble sticking it in the washing machine but doing anything with it after then is always a challenge chez elliepac as well

Have a good day everyone
