House is relatively presentable but have people staying over on friday night so am determined to get right back on track this week.

DEM welcome back.

Have a good week everyone. Will check in later. Had better go and get ready for work.

droitwitchmum · 19/10/2009 06:51

CTGG thanks for the coffee!

5 mins re-homing stuff from bedroom
15 mins declutter bedroom

Countingthegreyghouls · 19/10/2009 07:00

[Hands *Elliepac] a cup too

Forgot to say "safe travelling PA"

havingagiraffe · 19/10/2009 07:57

PA Hope the trip goes well and well done for getting the freezer filled - Big achievement. Although DC's probably won't notice if DH takes them to Pizza Hut.

DWM Brilliant reaction from your sister. Isn't it great when those who are close to us and let's face it most likely to notice the chaos (and comment on it) are pleasantly suprised. Makes it all worth while.

DEM Your list sounds like a good start, you have clearly done this before.

Also loving the book list, but just think I'm too to have one on my shelves, might have to hide away or go to the library.

As always Mondays is my 'back on track' day and things don't look too bad to start with. Dreading Master Bedroom though, don't think there will be much cleaning going on as de-cluttering is required - too many full drawers/cupboards/spaces under the bed!!! I know, I know, 15mins at a time.

Waves to allxx

walkthedinosaur · 19/10/2009 08:07

Hi all, hope you all had a good weekend, crazy busy here as usual, don't know what happens on a weekend but my house goes to pot and I spend Sunday night clearing up.

DH cleaned out the stove so we lit the fire for heating on Saturday night so have been warm and toasty here, am expecting a delivery of logs in the next 30 mins it's 3 cordes which my neighbour reckons is 5 tonnes - of course no DH for 2 weeks now so I've got try and stack them myself before it rains which is due Wednesday, with a full time job and two DS's it ain't going to happen, I'll be content if I can get whatever spills over onto the lane in front of the house into the woodshed so the local farmer can get past when he goes to see his cows. So another job to add to my morning list clean out ash bin.

DH cleaned up the car port and bit of garden outside the backdoor at the weekend in anticipation of the wood delivery and then extended on to cutting back all the overgrown plants at the front of the house, so for once we don't look too messy.

Disaster struck last night, my iron broke down halfway through my ironing, fortunately had managed to iron both DS's a couple of pairs of school trousers, but really need to buy a new iron today grr more expense.

Have got one load of washing out drying and another in machine, have checked work and sent it off to client, loaded dishwasher and washed kitchen sides and dining table, laid the fire so I just have to put a match to it tonight, done the bathroom bits so now head down and get working. Will try and do my bedroom tonight, have been promising myself to clean my bedside cabinets so at least this is some motivation.

Have a good day all.

nightmareteamgirl · 19/10/2009 09:11

Mornin all

Working from home breifly this am, before off to work

WalkTheD I cannot rate my iron highly enough. Its safe to say I never ironed anything before I got it and now I iron almost everything
They dont make mine anymore (4340) but this is replacemnet and has equally good reviews Phillips 4630 And if you order now, it cold be delivered by tomorrow lunchtime Oh and good luck with the logs- you sound like a wonderwoman to me!!

Hi to everyone else, and if you dont drink coffee I have a pot of tea made.

Lookimng forward to master bedroom as I looked round it this morning and thought -hmmm I need 15 mins in here today to sort this lot out- shopping bags un packed and so on, plus I noticed under the bed at the hard to get to side is VERY dusty

So a list for me (unusally)

Up, dressed, bed made -done
DS fed and at school -done
Go to work leaving now
15 mins in bedroom declutter
and OMG from cleaning list- I dont think I have EVER cleaned my bedroom windows from the inside, so that too

alexdrake · 19/10/2009 09:50

Hi everyone, please excuse my absence since much earlier in the month, I could reel off the many excuses for my tardiness but you will have heard it all before... sick child... weekend distractions... work... etc...

However today is my first day of maternity leave and I'm back with a vengence (perhaps this is early nesting?).

Anyway, spent some time this morning catching up with the thread (not checking back on baby steps I missed you note!) off to get that sink shiny again!

Pop back in later.

Countingthegreyghouls · 19/10/2009 10:18

Ah, coffee break (at work today) and time to catch up a little with everyone after the w/e. [Pours strong tea and passes paracetemol to Nightmareteam - hope your headache eases soon!!]

This one's for Elliepac (skip this bit and humour us HavingaG ]
"In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer." Sausage and mash is my all time favourite btw!! And don't get me started on cold sausages.

How are things with you Frazzled? If Flying is not for you at weekends, that's absolutely A-OK! Flylady system works best when you adapt it to suit yoursefl. I personally have Sat on and Sun off. (Still do bedtime routine because can't go to sleep without laying out my clothes now!!)

Pink - so sorry to hear about your dd. How is she now? Good luck with your list today.

Nightmareteam -meant to say, I have saddest of saddo book list collection btw - you are very wise to resist!!

Frightstick - am loving your 'Tips and Wrinkles' darlin' Lovely EB control journal book thing - my only comment (in my role as Fat Fairy advocate) is "don't get too perfectionist about it" - but agree 'tis gorgeous and if it helps, why not?

Yo Droitwitch! Congratulations on your sister's reaction!! You really deserve it!!
Very impressed by your head start on the bedroom too - I'm dreading starting mine!!

BlairSnitch - just jump in where we are at and don't worry too much about "catching up". It will all come around again. Good luck with getting back on track and glad you are feeling better. Go gently!!!

Paranoid - I feel your pain! I have one day off from Flying on Sunday's and the speed with which the house is reduced to rack and ruin is depressing ...I reckon we should (a) take Nightmareteam's sound advice and instead of stressing just "do the 15 mins" and (b)agree some ground rules with our nearest and dearest. (How do you do this Optimistic??? - am v impressed with our dh & the garage) Have a good week both of you!

A warm welcome back to DEM - it's great to see you back. Don't worry about re-starting! I'm on my third go!! We'll all do it together!! Did the w-up liq work (for the baby oil)?

Will be with you in spirit when tackling the bedroom HavingaG - mine's appalling if it's any consolation.

WalktheD - you are doing brilliantly - good luck with your wood-stacking. Well done to your dh too! It sounds as if you live in a gorgeous location.

PA - you have done AMAZINGLY well to get all that done. I am so impressed with the way you keep going and never give up. Your family are so lucky to have you. We'll be thinking of you on your trip!!

It's great to hear from lots of you that despite the challenges of rl, your houses aren't looking "too bad" this morning!! It's down to your efforts everyone so well done and keep going!

Waves to Mini-Marmite and anyone I have missed.

Must go now. Hope everyone has a great start to the week!!

walkthedinosaur · 19/10/2009 10:37

Well the wood man came and delivered the first part of my wood, then told me I was going to have to shift some of it before he came with the next lot as it would be on the road and the tractor wouldn't get by. I've worked like a crazy lady for an hour and a half and stacked about half of the first delivery and then he came back with the next lot and dumped that and a little bit is still on the road. I'll have to do it tonight with the DC's after school, got to earn a living at some point today. My back hurts now I'm not used to manual labour, that's what I've got a DH for

tibni · 19/10/2009 11:55

Morning all - (just)

Had a busy morning which is why im later posting.

Did morning routine plus
cleaned sitting room and hall carpet (must to puppys disgust as I am keeping him out until it is dry)
sorted dog insurance
opened new bank account
set up transfers on bank account
2 loads of washing
sorted dd violin payment
sorted ds direct payment accounts.

Have a further list

wash ds old bike to give to friend
hoover cars
sort and clean fridge
sort car insurance(nag dh to!)
ring plumber
paperwork study

At some point this week I need to get my planters sorted at front of the house which means an excuse to go buying plants

Well done Droitwich mum on your sisters reaction - that really shows how far you have come. Inspiration to us all.

Waves to everyone else. I will try and come back later but need to get back to my list now.

From all my past attempts at flying I think the master bedroom is one that I can really see the difference in. I used to be so ashamed of my room and had the tendancy to dump things there. Now it looks good but I have still lots of sorting that will improve it.

FullMooniMarmite · 19/10/2009 13:10

Hi Ladies

Sad news from me today, unfortunately, as my scan showed that I've had another MMC so I'll be going in for a D&C on Wednesday . DH is also very poorly with a bad back so somehow we're trying to keep everything together for DS who is being a little star as always.

I want to try and keep things going at home so I'll be checking in for duty as usual and feeling so lucky to have all of you to keep me motivated.

We have friends coming to stay from overseas at the weekend and I don't want to put them off because we haven't seen them for a very long time and it would mean them cancelling flights etc but I have to be honest, I really don't know how I am going to cope with it. There's the emotional bit of course but then the practical side of getting things ready and making meals for everyone and not being too tired after a GA earlier in the week...

Sorry, this is such an unhappy post, I hope you are all having a good day

nightmareteamgirl · 19/10/2009 13:36

Oh marmite I am so so sorry for your loss

Huge hugs to you all, and I hope you do ok over the next few days.

Please do tell your guests, then they will know not to expect you to cope and to treat you gently. I do hope they are the type who will get on and help when they realise they are needed.

I dont know what else to say, so just more hugs from me

elliepac · 19/10/2009 13:40

FullMooniMarmite I know there is nothing I can do or say that is going to make this better. I just want you to know that I am thinking of you, your DH and DS and am really sorry that this has happened. I am going to break ranks and am sending you some very un-mumsnet hugs.

I am sure your friends will understand if you cancel but if you don't want to I hope they are the kind that will muck in because you need to concentrate on you and your lovely family right now.

You know where we are.......

x

hellsbelles · 19/10/2009 13:50

nearly lost this thread as I hadn't posted for so long. Just checking in - babystep on track and great to see everyone is doing so well.

Marmite - thinking of you. I understand completely what mmc's are like (I went through 4 before DD) - be kind to yourself it's a physical as well as emotional torment. Are you sure having the friends over is the best thing?

havingagiraffe · 19/10/2009 14:05

Minimarmite What terribly news. Such a horrible thing to happen (I too have been there too often to dwell on) Please take it easy and take care of yourself. I would also suggest telling your friends, if you can bear to, I'm sure they will pitch in to look after you and DH.

I will be thinking of you lots today.

Countingthegreyghouls · 19/10/2009 14:59

Oh Mini-Marmite, just checking in and saw your post. I am so terribly sorry for your loss.

It's admirable that you want to carry on as normal but equally I am sure your friends would understand if you cancel or you ask them to stay in a hotel or guest house.

Thoughts and prayers from here to you, your dh and your ds xxx

FullMooniMarmite · 19/10/2009 18:49

Good evening Ladies, thank you all so much for your wishes, it means such a lot.

It has been a horrible day but at least I know now - I had started to wonder if things weren't quite right so at least the waiting is over now.

So sorry some of you have been through something similar.

The friends we are having to stay are very dear and will understand if we decide we need to cancel but will equally pitch in if we go ahead.

On a brighter note, DH ended up being the first to use the slow cooker and made a delicious creamy chicken and mushroom dish. There's quite a lot left so it will last us a couple of days so at least we don't have to cook.

I think I'll skip the babysteps etc for today but will, with DH's help, aim to have the kitchen clean and tidy, the rugs vacuumed and everyone's clothes ready for tomorrow. Then I think it will be chocolate and a snuggle in front of the TV.

Work have said not to worry about going in this week and DS will be at the childminder tomorrow so I think I will get some rest and make sure I have everything I need for Wednesday.

optimisticmumma · 19/10/2009 19:17

Just flying in and have skimmed the posts...

Marmite I am so sorry you have had to go through this. Please look after yourself and I just wanted to add that I'm thinking of you too. I'm sure having very close friends around will in fact prove a distraction. Take care and from me too.

Hi and a massive wave to everybody else on the thread.
Why aren't we allowed to hug?

CTGG I'm not sure I've ever got my lot to play ball. I have trained them from an early age to clear up but it still takes an awful lot of nagging from me. DH only cleared out the garage because I suggested we both did it and he feels guilty because a) he is away until Friday and b) he is playing golf all next weekend!!!!

Countingthegreyghouls · 19/10/2009 19:20

Gosh, that's a pretty brave post in the circumstances MiniMarmite - it's lovely that your dh is pitching in - and I'm so pleased you don't have to worry about work for this week and can take it a little bit easy at least.

It seems rather banal to post about cleaning in the light of what you are going through, so if it's ok with you - and everyone is in agreement - we'll start again here tomorrow morning.

Thinking of you x

Countingthegreyghouls · 19/10/2009 19:23

Oh sorry - X posts Optimistic - hi there!

I suspected there might be nagging involved but thanks for the advice! See you tomorrow!

I agree about the hugs btw, particularly in these circs ....

tibni · 19/10/2009 20:02

So sorry to hear your news Minimarmite, take care.

ParanoiaBigPumkinDestroyer · 19/10/2009 20:25

Minimarmite I am thinking of you - please look after yourself.

havingagiraffe · 19/10/2009 20:33

Am so glad that work are being kind MM and please make sure you take more time if you need it after the op. Sounds like your DH is a little superstar which is the best help you can get imo.

Agree with CTGH start again tomorrow as cleaning seems so trivial.

Night night all

elliepac · 19/10/2009 20:51

minimarmite am glad that you are getting the support you need from work. Please don't rush things, just snuggle with DH and be there together.

See you all tomorrow

xxx
