OP posts:
havingagiraffe · 30/10/2009 08:34

'pick up missing chocolate puds' ???!!!

Is there some kind of chocolate pud stealing phenomenon that I don't know about.

LongtimeinBrussels · 30/10/2009 09:10

I'm trying to keep up here but it doesn't help that when I opened my e-mail account, I had loads of e-mails from FlyLady! Took me ages to looks through them and delete/keep them as appropriate! Maybe I signed up for things I shouldn't have? Do you all receive lots of e-mails?

LongtimeinBrussels · 30/10/2009 09:14

CTGG, yes dd's still at Paradis. L'Enfer more like! Don't have a car anymore so am pretty stuck as I need a school either near here (no good ones) or near a metro so she'll be staying until the end of 6th year (another nearly 2 years). At least not having a car means I don't have to do the car cleaning/decluttering suggested by FlyLady today!

Only one meet-up since Kessel-Lo. A cinema evening in Leuven the night of the fantastic thunderstorm! Got caught in horrendous rain!

hellsbelles · 30/10/2009 09:15

morning all!

How long do the babysteps last for? I've been doing them pretty much for a whole month. Am I ready to graduate to the proper missions!

ParanoiaBigPumkinDestroyer · 30/10/2009 09:43

DWM My DS needs to do his homework too - thanks for the reminder!
HAG sorry to hear about your little one. My 8 month old has a chesty cough which I'm keeping an eye on - but at least it's making him sleep more in the day.
Hellsbelles I've just been doing babysteps this month as well. I think the idea is that we move onto Babysteps plus 15mins decluttering in the zone next month. I'm sure someone will be on who can confirm.

I have still got the sniffles but life needs to carry on so today I got up early and finished the things I didn't manage to do yesterday.

d/w unloaded done
w/m on done
clothes on line done
DS1 bedroom decluttering 15 mins done
DS2 bedroom tidy done
beds made done
kitchen hotspot done
dressed doneTo do
Swish and swipe
15 mins declutter living room
Today's babystep - look at calendar for next month.
Make sausage casserole and plan meals for the weekend.

I also would like to buy a nice outfit for my theatre trip tomorrow. I planned to do this yesterday but didn't really feel well enough. I am determined that with a bit of positive thinking I will feel OK for tomorrow. It's only a cold - not the flu!

helliepac · 30/10/2009 13:44

Afternoon all, bit later than usual but have had a very productive morning. DH been home from work so together we have the blitzed the house.

So far today:-
washing x 2
DW done and unloaded
Kitchen swished/swiped/sink shined/floor swept
Living room polished/tidied/floorswept
Dining room polished/tidied/floor swept and mopped
DS room tidied/cleaned/bed stripped/re-made
DD room tidied/cleaned/cot stripped/re-made
Bathroom proper clean done

To do:-
Still have to venture into the wilderness that is our bedroom
Mop floor in living room/kitchen
Put clothes in tumble drier

Haven't got time to scroll up and down because if i stop for too long will lose all monmentum to tackle our bedroom. Have also got to get cracking because, get this, i am going out tonight without DH or DC's for a meal with old school friends. Me time...yeah...a rare and precious commodity.

Better go! Have a good day everyone!

tibni · 30/10/2009 14:17

Afternoon,

my list for today

Walk puppy - done
wipe kitchen - done
hoover downstairs - done but dc's doing craft so will need doing again
washing - done
ironing - done
strip, wash and re-make beds - done

To do,

Tidy round sitting room
polish sitting room
decluttering

If I can get motivated I might make a couple of veggie lasagne - always good to keep in the freezer.

dd at sleepover tonight and dh off to gym so its ds (asd and very bouncy today) and I all day - it means I don't get so much done but we have fun!

Have a good day all

helliepac · 30/10/2009 16:16

I can see the floor in my bedroom for the first time in months . The fat fairy, I have decided, is not only a fat fairy but a cunning fairy because is said i was only going to do 15mins but got so carried away i did the whole thing. Sneaky .

Have just got to go and make bed and then I am done. This also means that after my mammoth day today i can actually put away the piles of clean washing tomorrow because i can actually get to wardrobes etc.

[smug emoticon]

walkthedinosaur · 30/10/2009 19:15

Unfortunately no flying done here today and a very sad day in the dinosaur house, our 16 year old dog has had to be put to sleep, lots of crying going on. She's now buried under a cherry tree in the garden but the house already seems empty without her.

Got to get ourselves sorted though as tomorrow is DS2's 5th birthday party and I've got 10 5 year old French boys arriving at 3.00 pm for a Halloween party.

So tonight I've got to wrap the present for pass the parcel.
Cut out warts to stick on a witches nose.
Drink lots of red wine and scoff a load of chocolate.

Tomorrow:-

Mop all the floors in the morning
Make some green slime from custard.
Make the house presentable before it gets trashed.

Doubt you'll see me this weekend as RL takes over, so hope you all have a lovely weekend and I'll see you on the new November thread on Monday.

havingagiraffe · 30/10/2009 19:28

WTD So sorry about your dog. They are such an important part of the family. I hope the busy w/e you have coming up will be comfort rather than anything else.

DEMlostandtired · 30/10/2009 19:40

sorry to hear about your dog WTD.

No flying here either havent even bothered to cook. ds has had leftovers and i am munching a still frozen cheesecake for tea at least little washing up to do. which would be lovely if you could discover the kitchen wont be today £ museums in one day and pushing heavy (19kg) ds about town in the buggy has tired me out and i am looking forward to bedtime, which will be about 10pm as ds slept for over and hour on way home as he was so tired. I want my bed and an early night.

Happy flying and weekends to all.

droitwitchmum · 30/10/2009 19:53

wtd really sorry about your dog. Its impossible for non-pet owners to realise how devastating their loss is.

Not a bad day here
breakfast done
dressed done
washing on line done
shopping - jumpers, ink cartridge, present (+ wrapping paper), sugar, antihistamines done
swish & swipe done
hotspots - dining table, DS table done
DS homework done
phone Joe done
pack started
shine sink

Off to November thread to post 1st babystep link now as going away early tomorrow and not back till Sunday evening. May not get chance to get back on tonight so thank you CTGG for a fab thread. I've got a lot to live up to

FullMooniMarmite · 30/10/2009 22:28

WTD I am so sorry to hear about your dog. I've yet to lose a pet that is a longstanding family member (I have an 11 year old cat who I have owned since before meeting DH and can't imagine life without).

Well, not much has happened in the Marmite household over the past couple of days. I had to work today (usually my day off) and DH has been looking after DS who has had a bad cough and a temperature (sounds like there's a lot of it about - hope your little ones are improving HAG and PBPD) and had to miss out on a halloween party. We managed a bit of vacuuming and things are basically in order but we've not done much decluttering (and the laundry is out of hand again).

The cupboard under the stairs was (still is) a disaster. I had to throw away quite a few jars of jam and expired condiments. I did find a jar of my green tomato chutney though so there were some benefits!

Hope you have a great night out Hellie

Oh, I think I sound a bit whingy today . Not meaning too .

Countingthegreyghouls · 31/10/2009 06:43

Good morning Fledglings

last day of posting steps (sniff)

Hope everyone is OK. Haven't had time to catch up with everyone's posts (although have just read the bit about your dog WtD - I'm so sorry ...

Sorry to have been rather absent this week. Will catch up and do a last round up later today before handing the sacred feather duster over to Droitwitch (sniff)

[[http://flylady.net/pages/bbd31.asp Baby-step for Saturday 31st October - last one!! And I am proud of you too!! [sniff again])

No zones or missions today (because it's the weekend)

Have a good day everyone (sniff)

[CTFG wrings out handkerchief]

Puts coffee on

Perks tea

Countingthegreyghouls · 31/10/2009 06:46

Oh dear,

still half asleep

Let's try that again shall we ...

Last step!! Well done everyone!!

Actually, I don't know why I am sniffing.

We've all done really well!!!!

[CTGG throws away handkerchief, stands on a chair and shouts "yahhhhoooooooo")

helliepac · 31/10/2009 07:07

MOrning all, thanks for the coffee CTGG

So sorry to hear about your dog WTD it's not easy is it and I hope you, DH and Dc's are ok.

DEM hope DS didn't keep you up too late.

DWM have a lovely weekend and will see you on Monday for the hand over of the ceremonial feather duster

Had a lovely time last night but have woken up with a terrible headache and I didn't even have a drink because i was driving...not fair.

Today is a very busy day here in the hellie household. Today I must:-

Do the dreaded Tesco shop
Decorate house for halloween party this evening
Do lots of washing (all the stuff I lifted from my bedroom floor yesterday
Put all clean washing away
Create pumpkin lantern with DS
Prepare food for said party

I also bought my first christmas present yesterday which, for me, deserves some kind of fanfare (We got DS a Wii) so today I am aiming to get a couple more.

Might not get chance to get back on today so wanted to say a massive thank you to CTGG for leadng this thread over the last couple of months that i've been here. The fact that I am sitting in a presentable house and can see the floor in my bedroom is testimony to the fantabulous job you have done. You deserve to put your cyber feet up Looking forward to November with DWM at the helm.

ParanoiaBigPumkinDestroyer · 31/10/2009 07:39

WTD about your dog. I hope the party today helps cheer the family up.

CTGH Thankyooooooo - make sure you keep that medal firmly pinned to your tabard.

So, I'm off to the Young Vic today to see "Annie Get Your Gun" with Jane Horrocks. This will be my first outing to London on my own since DS2 was born. I'm really looking forward to leaving all the boys at home and spending some time with my mum.

Before I leave I want the house to get the usual morning routine and I need to vacuum. Then, that's it, no more flying on this thread - see you all over on the other side.

Happy Halloween

Countingthegreyghouls · 31/10/2009 09:00

Gosh, now, lots of catching up to do ....

Well done everyone - you have made brilliant progress this month!

Just a quick word to Droitwitch - hope you are having a lovely weekend away ...Looking forward to November when you will be steering us all through the Fat Fairy maze of microfibre cloths and 27 fling boogies ..!!

Enjoy your trip to "the smoke" Paranoid - hope you have a blast. Hope you and your ds are feeling better.

Passes parcetemol tablets to Helliepac - good luck with your list today and the fact that you are sitting in a presentable house is testament to all the work YOU have put in!!!

Really - thank you for your kind words everyone - but it's everyone's collective enthusiasm and contributions and frequent postings that have made this thread such a success and fun to be on. And you lot have really helped me make a really good start on getting my house in a better state! So thank "YOU" fledglings.

Again, WtheD - that's awful news about your dog. Sixteen years is such a long time ....Her place under the cherry tree sounds lovely though, although small consolation I am sure ...

Hope you survive the party today, not to mention the wart-making !!

Whinge on FullMoon - not that you are mind you - but you are entitled! You've had a horrible time and it wouldn't be realistic to expect everything to snap back as normal after only a week or so ... Hope your ds feels better soon and if it's any consolation, my laundry is also out of hand again - it just keeps on piling up!!

Waves to DEM - hope you got a good night's rest last night

BTW Helliepac meant to say (above) that I often suspected that this system is one big ruse!! We can cope with the thought of "I will just do this for 15 mins" but not with the thought of the 1hr 30 mins that it actually takes!! Well done on your mega-list yesterday and the bedroom floor!

How's things tibni - your lists are looking good ...!!

Hellesbelles - the idea is that you carry on doing the baby-steps until they are second nature/automatic (a bit like driving). I'm repeating them again next month for the fourth or fifth time as I have some down pat but not others ... Once they become automatic you can then graduate to maintaining the baby steps + 15 mins decluttering per day. Then once decluttered, you can maintain baby-steps and start detailed 15 min zone cleaning per day + missions. So you get to decide whether you are ready to graduate yet and adapt the system to suit yourself!

Hi again Longtime - car/school situation sounds difficult and just generally in the last couple of years it seems to be far more difficult to find a place in the primaire of you choice ...
With regard to Flylady e-mails, that is partly why these threads exist on Mmsnet (ie we are avoiding the deluge of stuff that is sent to you from the Fat Fairy site)!! We just prefer to cut to the chase on here.. I do have a free e-mail account where they are all festering (haven't read all of them yet) but you can Fly perfectly well without them and by just using the links on here. Good luck (with both)!

Haven't finished replying to everyone but someone is calling me ... back in a min

Countingthegreyghouls · 31/10/2009 09:15

Sorry - where was I -

MY 9.00.35 post meant to be read first then this one. (sorry - topsy turvey)

Hope you found your chocolate puds *DEM$ (if there is one missing then I apologise )

Really great to see you Jumbs!! Any cyber muffins left??

DEM - and all of you - thanks for sharing you tips about sorting post. I AM determined to get on top of my paperwork over the next three weeks and I'm going to need you lot to help motivate me ...

DEM - how about you and I making a pact NOT to buy any more sewing materials until we have finished a few projects ?????

Droitwitch - thanks for posting swish and swipe link lower down in thread

If any of you (or newcomers) have any queries prior to the new thread starting tomorrow - don't hesitate to post them ...

Hope you are enjoying your weekends Fledglings .. waves to anyone I have missed ... see you later!

pushmeghoulyou · 31/10/2009 13:05

Afternoon all

Very sorry about your dog WTD, I'm a pet person and it's so devastating when they die .

A heartfelt Well Done and Thank You to CTGG for posting all the daily info and generally being so upbeat and encouraging to all us newbie flyers throughout the month

to everyone else.

DD and DH have gone to the shops to get me a birthday present for tomorrow. Can't believe I am so old . So I have a couple of hours to myself and am struggling between cleaning and sleeping! May go for a quick snooze first and see if I feel more enthusiastic when I wake up.

Happy Halloween all. See you on the November thread when I will be 33

hellsbelles · 31/10/2009 13:49

thanks paranoia & CTGH - I'm itching to get going properly on the decluttering (though a bit that that is what excites me these days )

Are we doing a new thread for Nov or do we just carry on here?

WTD - so sorry - 16 is properly old for dogs isn't it? It must be so hard losing a dog that you have had with your family for such a lovely long time.

Countingthegreyghouls · 31/10/2009 16:31

Thank you both!! It really was my pleasure and everyone has pitched in to make the thread what it is ...it really kept me motivated too ...

Please believe me PushmePullyou 33 is YOUNG!!! (And thanks again for your v. kind words - much appreciated) Hope you gave dh and dd a very long and detailed list

[Holds Hellsbelles back at the starting gates]

Link to November thread is:

here!

FullMooniMarmite · 31/10/2009 18:46

Evening Fellow Fledglings

Once again, not much to report on the housework front but I did make a lovely pumpkin pasta for our halloween dinner (DH said so ) and I also fell asleep in the first 5 minutes of my reflexology session. Something woke me up, probably the sound of my own snoring

My last post here before moving over to the November thread.

CTGH(G) thank you so much for being our esteemed leader - you've kept everyone going with posting the daily tasks and replying to everyone individually.

DWM looking forward to following your feather duster through November. Hope you had a great weekend away (I think it was you going away).

Everybody - as you know, this has not been a great month for me and I will be glad to leave it. Now my turn to get sentimental - I have really valued and been overwhelmed by all of your kind support in helping me get through the last couple of weeks.

DEMlostandtired · 31/10/2009 19:46

Evening all.

Not flying drinking tonight. car has had to be toed to garage with terminal gear failure. Needs a new part (cost approx £100 for part only) and cant be done before firday.

It was late last night about midnight before ds went to bed so am tired. Trip out was mostly good. except the over tired 2hr temper from ds on the way home.

CTGG the pact sound good but got some much material from my nan i wouldnt make anything else. Sounds good for now.

Hope all are well happy flying see you in November...

Countingthegreyghouls · 31/10/2009 21:11

What a lovely post FullMoon - you've been really brave - and you are right, we definitely DO have a really great and supportive team on here! Wishing you all good things in November ....x

Fair enough on the pact DEM ... I'm not sure I could stick to it anyway !!! Sorry to hear about your car though ...what a b**r for you ...hope you get a good night's sleep tonight at least.

Thank you again everyone for all your Fly-tastic contributions to this thread!! You have all done absolutely brilliantly!! Most important of all, let's keep going, step by step ....

[CTGG flaps wings at everyone, perches on edge of nest, feather duster in beak and flies off to November thread]
