WHAT

DevilsEnticeMadness · 28/10/2009 12:12

Appologises, I have been struggling to get to grips with this thread. And I am pretty certain that when i get five mins i am going have to scroll through and take a few notes to figure out who everyone is.

I hope all the poorly people are feeling better.
It sounds like everyone has been working very hard despite the half term interruption to normal routines.

My control Journal has sections in for most things. I need to sort out ds' emergency medical instruction page so that is the first section. The bit that I find most useful at the moment is a plastic wallet where i have put my stamps and return envelops (dvd rental) in so i can lay my hands on immediately. I have had a control journal before I knew about flying and it used to be known as the magic blue file of all knowing. It is in the process of being adapted to the new layout and i have already a list of birthdays - which is fantastic as it is month dependant not year dependant as saves having to be updated every year (although i have been very amiss as i lost if back in may so just discovered whose birthdays i have missed in the mean time)

Right that is it. i have decided no before lists. i dont get anything done when i write a before list. I must also have to admit to loosing my way in the tidying and not having any motivation to do anything in that line. I have no idea what i am going to get done today (especailly as I am only just about to get up ) but what will be done will get done...

Yesterday I did
Shopping
Made dress
Unpicked dress
Cut smaller
Half remade dress.

Will put a picture on my profile when i finish it. it was a pain in the butt unpicking it but it is so nice to be as size 12.

Happy flying!

frightstick · 28/10/2009 13:16

Yesterday was a difficult day! DS2 cried everytime I put him down and DS1 was a horror bag which I am attributing to him feeling low after his injections but didn't make the food throwing and general unpleasantness any more bearable!

DH has taken the day off today as it's the childminders week off and I'm supposed to be working. Have got through a lot today and sorted out my paperwork so am feeling more organised. I have a tidy desk (for now).

Am so impressed with all your christmas baking. I have decided that since I am cooking for so many, christmas pudding and cake have been delegated to Mr Waitrose.

WTD Am also very jealous of your woodland walks.

Have ordered some of DDs christmas presents but occurred to me that we really are going to have to invest in some more toy storage before Santa arrives. We've been putting it off as we are only renting and don't want to buy something that won't fit in the next house we buy but I think I'm going to have to bit the bullet and invest in some Trofast.

FullMooniMarmite · 28/10/2009 13:36

Oops my smug proud moment earlier today backfired a bit when I later realised that I should have been putting some lamb in the slow cooker rather than telling you all how brilliant I was ! Lamb is now in conventional oven.

LOL pushme . Congrats to your DD too - it goes so fast doesn't it?

Earlier on DS picked up a gherkin that had fallen on the floor. I asked him to put it in the bin and he did. I nearly fell over - can't believe that a) he understood me and b) did what I asked! He must have been taking lessons from the fat fairy too!

Very impressed that you can sew DEM. My Mum takes one look at anything I attempt to knit or sew and takes it away with her to finish!

Sorry you had a difficult day yesterday Frightstick

Best be off as I can see a full basket of washing sitting in the corner that I must hang out (in order to make more of the ironing that I love so much)...

Countingthegreyghouls · 28/10/2009 15:21

Hi all; everyone is doing really well!!

Just taking advantage of a slight lull in proceedings here (at work) to pop in and say hello. Belgacom man trying to rectify phone problem for 5th time sigh ....

A warm welcome to Longtime. Great to "see you". I'm sorry if you have sent me a message about meet-ups and I haven't responded. Have let some of my free e-mail accounts "fall fallow" and I've forgotten the passwords (totally disorganised as usual). Must admit though, a bit to busy for day trips at the moment. Have there been any more since Kessel-Lo? How are you doing? Is your dd still at Paradis des Enfants? Dd has stayed put, thanks for asking. We must catch up ...

On the flying front:

Have you done tried the baby-steps before? They are the foundation to the Flylady system which is a way of doing very specific, focused cleaning and housework, on a regular basis, without becoming overwhelmed. Just google 'Flylady' and read Flying Lessons or some of the introductory pages and if you are going to be away next week, suggest you browse through the baby-steps too. I will be repeating the baby-steps (for fourth or fifth time I think!!) from 1st November plus 15 mins decluttering per day. Once your house has been decluttered, you can start 15 mins of zone cleaning per day instead. All will be explained when you start - don't worry!! Droitwitch (our most esteemed and consistent Flyer) will be leading the thread next month. Top tip: ignore "barftastic and cutesy language of Flylady site" - the underlying principles are sound.

Good to see Jumbs has already marked her place on November thread too.

FullMoon - sorry I barked "do your ironing" at you this morning when you had already done it!!

Hellipac - you are doing just fine - repeat after me "15 minutes at at time", "15 minutes at a time"! Go for it!!

Wonders if ParanoidBD has descended yet? Hope you are feeling better anyway x

Wow WalktheD - well done! What an upbeat post! The system really seems to be working for you ...

Frightstick - hope everyone is recovering today and that you manage to get a bit of repose

DEM I think "the magic blue file of all knowing" is a far superior name for the control journal. Hope you stick with it! I have an "Out of" Control Journal with Edvard Munch's "Scream" stuck on the front. Not sure Fat Fairy would approve ...

Waves to anyone else I've missed (and I'm sure I have because I keep being interrupted and losing my place!

See you later....

helliepac · 28/10/2009 17:37

Have had a wonderful day out with the DC's and just peeking in quickly before madness of bedtime etc, takes over. Will be back later to post in detail but i just wanted to reassure pushmeghoulyou that it was not me who said shat .

DevilsEnticeMadness · 28/10/2009 18:41

Pictures of dress on profile. It has taken all day to finish and fit it. So just about to head off to deal with assignment deadline tomo.

CTGG - I think the picture is quite appropriate, as it your name for the control journal. Who cares if the fat fairy would approve. She doesnt need to know everything and perfection is just plain boring sometimes.

Minimarmite - Mum had to help with the fitting and is a bit narked her treasured machine now needs fixing but as she said it is 30yo and probably due to break anyway. Hopefully heading over to the shop to get my new machine ordered on sat and will take hers to get fixed in the same go. Its not a major break thankfully but still. It deserves being treated with a bit of respect.

Hope you all have a lovely evening.

FullMooniMarmite · 28/10/2009 18:47

LOL CTGG - the promise of you all asking me about the ironing this morning was my only motivation for actually getting it done so THANK YOU

Getting a bit scared about the decluttering for tonight as I will have to venture into the cupboard of doom under the stairs...rather like the pantry (in pre-fairy days) no-one has dared ventured there for many moons for fear of being eaten by zombies (aka mutant fungi growing in jars of long lost mincemeat).

Glad you had a good day hellie and, DWM impressive as ever (don't forget about those bunnies though).

DS and I had a good day - had to run to the shops at the last minute though as I had forgotten to get him an outfit for a halloween party on Friday - another reason to sort my control journal!

hellsbelles · 28/10/2009 19:04

hello all, just checking in. I have been quite good (honest!) on my flying but need to be better about catching up with you all! I'm away from home t/m but will come back with good intentions to keep my flying going!

walkthedinosaur · 28/10/2009 20:19

Doesn't look like anyone has opened the wine yet, so I've got my glass of Pinot Grigio on the go, half a bottle left in the fridge, there's some red on the rack if you want it.

DEM well done on your dress it looks really good. I bought a sewing machine 5 years ago, it's still in its box unopened. I always wanted to make my own curtains.

Today has been good again, I really like this not working full time, shame it's only for the holidays. My desk space is cleared and dusted and the floor around it swept and even skirting boards wiped.

Paperwork sorted - 2 bills found that need paying and a half completed tax form.

Swept the landing and DC's bedrooms.

Have cleaned all the mirrors in the house and am glad to say my skin doesn't have a grey tinge to it, it was only dirty mirrors .

Cleaned the insides of the kitchen windows.

Started sorting out my control journal - well printed it out and put it in a folder on my desk. Still need to put in useful contact numbers etc, but I'm getting there.

No walk in the woods for us today, Wednesdays and weekends in Brittany in the winter are hunting days, so it's not safe to walk in the woods, they shoot anything that moves, dog, cat, small child, each other, it's all fair game to them. So basically DC's have gone stir crazy, although they both tidied up all the toys in their bedrooms.

Builder put a door on my downstairs cupboard, put the hooks on my bedroom door that DH has been promising to do for THREE years, so now my dressing gown doesn't have to be hung up on the floor.

Am off to finish my wine and unload the DW.

See you all in the morning.

droitwitchmum · 28/10/2009 21:41

Thanks for opening the wine wtd. I forgot it was haircut evening so everything got pushed back. Fortunately I had almost done my list before we went
DW done
breakfast done
dressed done
washing done
ironing done
15 mins declutter lounge done
dusting in lounge done but needs more - we've loads of bunnies etc etc
DS up done
take DS to football done
out to garden centre with DSM done
pick DS up DH did it I was still drinking coffee & eating cake at garden centre
might manage 10 mins in spare room done
swish & swipe done
shine sink

Busy day tomorrow with lots of walking as DH at work. No hope of getting down to size 12 though

FullMooniMarmite · 28/10/2009 21:53

ooh, thanks for wine. DH has been trying to ply me with RL wine all evening but I keep forgetting to drink it!

DEM I can't see your profile for some reason but MN is behaving strangely this evening so will try again tomorrow.

pushmeghoulyou · 28/10/2009 22:07

Evening all

I will try and get through this post without any major typing cock ups faux pas!

I have done pretty well today, as long as I gloss over the work parts in my mind!

Morning and evening routines done
washing done
dishwasher done
folding and putting away started but not completed
ornaments dusted done MM I am going to try to tackle a shelf of my own cupboard of doom tomorrow! Will be on in the morning looking for a kick up the bum support and encouragement I expect!

hellie I'm very glad to hear it. I can't believe that stepford wives of our calibre would even understand the word

wtd I'll have a glass of red if there's one going,

DEM can't see your profile, but very impressed by the dress making. I guess if you are going to have to unpick and start again, being a dress size smaller than you thought you were going to be is the very best reason to have to do it.

Am getting inspired by everybodies talk of control journals. I half followed the baby steps lurkily last month, so haven't been focusing on those so much this month, but have been very good with morning and evening routines, missions and zone cleaning this month.

However I have done virtually no tidying bar stuffing everything into either the 'cupboard of many things' or the 'attic (from hell!)'. I am trying to decide what to step up for November and tbh am inclining towards the journal rather than tidying the attic - I don't think I'm ready for that yet!

Hi CTGG,fruitstick and everyone else I've missed. I've been writing this for about an hour and a half and really need to post and go to bed!

nightmareteamgirl · 28/10/2009 22:15

PMPY How cool on the walking, thats really ace

CTGG Your control journal folder sounds brilliant, I do however want a blue folder of all knowing like DEM -it sounds essential

Hi to everyone else

DS is back and very happy. Au pair is here and very tired in bed. She helped clear from dinner tho, which is an improvement on last one

Off the next two days, so will check in

Oh and DWM I have done on the baby steps links for you. Do I have your email address? If not I will post mine and email you the sheet

droitwitchmum · 28/10/2009 22:48

ntg not sure if mine is 'visible' via profile. As fmm said earlier MN is v wierd tonight - something to do with Hallowe'en?
Let me know if you have problems and I will post it here

nightmareteamgirl · 28/10/2009 23:03

No it isnt DWM email me at jules _ashford @
yahoo .com (squish of course) and I will send you it- hopefully it will make your life easier

And yes MN is weird tonight- must be the bad spirits

DEMlostandtired · 29/10/2009 01:03

name changed and mn has lost my profile. will try to re-upload them. but if it is working like it was earlier then it wont happen. Not spirits - upgrade. also known as coding conflicts. trial and error stuff and why vista has had to be replaced by windows 7. microsoft rushed it. Looks like bigtech found a few bugs in his code upgrade.

Just so you know, halloween is a full moon. It is going to be madness.

November is tackle the attic? Well, thats the office getting tidied then. Just as well has promised ds i would have my bedroom tidy for when he got back and due to the unpicking havent had chance to finish the filing. Will move the piles for the illusion of tidy and tackle as and when November. Focusing on some fun time with ds for the last few days of the holiday. Still have some lesson prep to do but can do that when ds in bed.

DEMlostandtired · 29/10/2009 01:07

blimey, must have been a gliched, profile has mysteriously turned up. Hope you are all sleeping soundly.

happy flying tomo
