droitwitchmum · 29/10/2009 08:19

There is another thread about wierd things happening to the lay-out. I'm not technical but its something to do with an upgrade? Tech people are looking at it.....

Countingthegreyghouls · 29/10/2009 08:55

Thanks Droitwitch - will be back later

pushmeghoulyou · 29/10/2009 09:21

Morning ladies

Anyone want a cinnamon danish? Think i've got some apple ones too somewhere

Very quick post as DD seems to have gone down for her nap much earlier than usual so I suspect it will be a short one and want to get some cleaning done before she wakes up!

Very pleased to see todays mission as I was planning on doing this today anyway.

Also need to tackle The Cupboard. it is floor to ceiling height and absolutely rammed full of everything we own .

Right then, baby steps. I promise to have done at least one shelf by the time I come back on....

...see you in a week

droitwitchmum · 29/10/2009 10:42

Oooh thank you pmgy! Coffee/tea is in the pot.

Sink is soaking, swish & swipe done, letter posted, bill paid, bags bought, must remember to collect DS at 12.30

pushmeghoulyou · 29/10/2009 10:59

Thanks droitwichmum, I'd love a cup

Well - I have cleared out the bottom two shelves of the cupboard !!!

Admittedly a lot of it has involved moving things to the upper shelves but I have thrown away two bin bags of stuff and fulfilled the main purpose which was to create a dedicated toy/book space for DD that she could access herself without fear of her life!

Can't do the top half without buying some kind of storage devices though, so this afternoons job is shopping .

Just need to put another wash on now, wait for DD lunch time and then go out. Hooray!

DEMlostandtired · 29/10/2009 11:02

I have some page templates for the blue file of knowing if anyone wants them emailing.

Not flying today off to getthe boy.

Happy flying. heres hoping they sort out the problems search by the time i get back.

ParanoiaBigPumkinDestroyer · 29/10/2009 11:06

That was a lovely coffee and Danish - thanks!

Well, I got half the ironing done - so fairly pleased with myself. Off to do the rest in a minute while DH watches "Enigma" and feeds the baby. DS1 is out with a friend today so I might get some things done in between bouts of sniffles and sneezes.

Today...

Dress
Make beds
Recycling
Shopping trip
Tidy kitchen

All doneTo do
Swish and swipe
Finish ironing
Put ironing away
Empty d/w
Sort out DS1 and DS2's bedrooms
Retail therapy for nice outfit to wear to theatre
Watch Spooks on iplayer
Chase DH into sorting out broken flush in en-suite

tibni · 29/10/2009 11:40

Coffee time!

Well yesterday dh went to see a man about a possible contract and he started this morning! It has worked well as his CV will only show September as not working. The contract is part time and dh will have to set up as a sole trader.

ds PA (carer) is going to help out so I will be able to cover my work shifts- including ds school training day.

So today I was up very early - dog to walk, neighbours pets to feed.

so far I have done

mission
decluttering
descaled kettle
changed water filter
s/s
hoover downstairs
kitchen tidy / general clean
ironing
2 washes
dishwasher
cleaned conservatory floor
hoovered conservatory roof (I looked up and it was terrible

I have the ironing to put away and downstairs to polish before ds PA arrives so I can take dd to her ballet skirt fitting. Also need to sort out dcs lunch.

Dinner decided on - sweet and sour pork using up remainder of yestedays roast pork. When dh returns I am nipping to the gym - will need to clear my head by then - and then I have to go and clean neighbours guinea pig out (not possible in the day as ds wouldn't cope)

Have a good day all.

Countingthegreyghouls · 29/10/2009 11:57

Hi all

Just checking in

Bit frantic here

Hope everyone is doing OK

Hi Hellipac - brill you had a great day out! Everything going really well with visitor thanks for asking, I'm just a bit tired (didn't realise one week would feel like quite a long time for guest to say - albeit rather selfish of me to mention it because they could not be nicer person to have around!!)

DEM - as luck would have it - have just received material from e-bay shop - you have inspired me to do a bit of sewing in hols next week ... going to attempt to make dd a dress. Can't quite view yr profile today because of site going wierdy but congrats on finishing your project! (I'm very good at starting projects, and buying materials ..more clutter ..and then whole thing goes nowhere!)

FullMoon - hope you managed to make it out of the cupboard unscathed!

Congrats on your flying Hellesbelles

And to you too WalktheD - lol at your mirrors! Well done on the Flying front. You are really on fire at the moment! Didn't know you are in Brittany - gorgeous countryside - not to mention grub. And it is amazing what a huge difference little things like hooks can make to your day....

Droitwitch - as usual - I aspire to reach your level of Flying. I would love to get to the point where I could have forgotten something but it didn't matter 'cos I was ahead with everything else. You have shown us it IS possible!!

PushmePullyou - go on - make another typing error - I dare you Danish delicious thanks [wipes crumbs from chin]Attic will wait until you are filling strong enough to face it. In the meantime concentrate on maintaining baby steps and just doing 15 mins ONLY of decluttering a day. All those 15 mins really do add up ... until you get to the point where you won't have horror attic or cupboard to face ... I'm not there yet but small steps, small steps ... it honestly does work .. so don't be tempted to go overboard today!! Fat Fairy advice is only pull out what you can put back in an hour ....

Nightmareteamgirl - enjoy your couple of days off and glad au pair looking promising...

Paranoid Well done for getting so much done when you are not feeling 100% ..hope you start feeling better soon

Good luck with your lists everyone today

I'm behind with everything this morning and can't get motivated (even my morning routine went to pot) so if you see me on here before tonight please "encourage" me to leave in no uncertain terms!! No proper Flying for me today, just maintaining

Have to:

empty dishwasher
tidy kitchen and sitting room
sort laundry and do at least two loads
make play dough
prepare supper (veggie tonight)
swish and swipe bathroom
tidy bedroom
half make chocolate muffins (dd has friend coming tonight)

Happy Flying fledgling friends ...

Countingthegreyghouls · 29/10/2009 12:01

x posts tibni - crikey - you have got a lot done today (put's me to to shame)
Well done on your early start

Waves to anyone I have missed ...

One quick question in prep for my office de-cluttering next week (oh hols then):

Where do you all keep your unopened post please?

How often do you open it? Daily? Once weekly?

Thanks

Right, off to tackle my chores ...

helliepac · 29/10/2009 12:05

Unopened post.....pile in the hallway

When do I open it....depends what it is .

Not sure that helps really

walkthedinosaur · 29/10/2009 12:44

Morning or afternoon all!

Another beautiful day here, I've got the dining room windows open to let some fresh air and sunshine in and am listening to the DFS christmas advert on the radio it's bizarre.

Today have s/s
Put away ironing
Put one load of washing on line and another in machine
Washed all the fingerprints off the walls in the hall and on the stairs
Washed the dining room windows

This afternoon to:-
Wash front door window and door frame
Wash windows in living room and French door in living room
Take DC's for a walk or a bike ride and enjoy some of this sunshine

Have made the mistake of opening my bank statement, so am having to plan cheap meals for a month. I figure if the DC's have a 3-4 course meal for lunch at school they don't need a dinner every night do they? I can give them baked potatoes and pasta? Need to make some cutbacks in the dinosaur house this month.

walkthedinosaur · 29/10/2009 12:48

CTGG unopened post - well some I try not to open (see reference to bank statement in post above) but normally open it in the hallway then shove junk in the bin or file the electricity bills etc (well when I say file I mean sit them at the side of my desk and file every six months when I keep knocking the pile over). Normally things like the bank statements that I can't face sit in a pile on top of some of the books on the shelf where I can't see them.

ParanoiaBigPumkinDestroyer · 29/10/2009 14:16

Well - I tried to watch Spooks on iplayer but have just realised I was looking at next week's Radio Times and the series doesn't start until next Wednesday. Dammit. I may have to do some housework instead.

FullMooniMarmite · 29/10/2009 19:02

Spooks is back. There goes my housework, I love that programme. Will have to watch on iplayer too as DH is scared of it so I can't watch when he is home!

Must go and clear dinner things. Only done S&S and make beds today as was out to work early, just home and now out to babysit!

I will divulge the horrors of the cupboard of doom tomorrow - it really was quite scary!

DEMlostandtired · 29/10/2009 20:00

I open post as it arrives and then sort into folders. To file, the bin(a recycling bag) which gets emptied once fortnightly, to shred, to pay. I intend to file weekly and shred weekly. But in reality this hasnt been the case and why i have so much paperwork to deal with.

CTGG: I too am a devil for buying material for projects and not getting round to them. The material for the dress was bought over a year ago if not longer. I have just bought some blouse material so my plan for tomo evening is to make that. Will have to see. I have a long list of stuff i want to make and lack time and need to put machine in for fixing. Will have to prioritise the christmas presents first. Got 3 shopping bags to run up. Only have the material for one of them need to buy some more tomo.

Waves to everyone. Sounds like you have all had a busy day fluttering those wings. the fat fairy would eb very disappointed in me. nothing done at all today. not even the sink. about to flop into bed for an early night. maybe tomo will get sorted.

Jumbs · 29/10/2009 20:25

Hello! yes, I've marked my place for November and am trying to declutter. Doesn't help that OH is a horder and has removed some old magazines of his I had hidden at the bottom of the recycling basket. Does anyone else have this problem? He's so like his father, wants to keep everything in case its worth something one day. I make sure now that the things I sling are out of the house before he comes home.

Can I just ask, what is swish and swipe? It sounds marvellous but I've not idea what it is, I'm imagining you all running round with cloths wiping everything like crazy

Had a great day today, DS1 at nursery DS2 sleepy so:
*cleaned bathroom
*mopped kitchen floor
*hoovered downstairs
*2x loads of washing done and put away
*made lasagne and muffins
*emptied crate of junk in DS1's room (to be filled with toys from lounge)
*decluttered coffee table

droitwitchmum · 29/10/2009 21:08

Link to official swish & swipe instructions here
I'm a recent convert and it is WONDERFUL! The best thing I do each day including shining my sink

Go enjoy!

Sorry - started the wine already - hic! Lots left in the bottle...

Countingthegreyghouls · 30/10/2009 07:17

Hello everyone! Hope you are all Flying well ...certainly looks like it.

Sorry not to reply to individual posts yesterday evening. Very busy here! Will try and get back later in the day, or if not, tomorrow lunch time.

We're nearly at the end of this month so let's make it a good day!

Baby step for Thursday 30 October

Last day of being in Zone 4 - sitting room

[[http://flylady.net/pages/FlightPlan_Missions.asp Today' s mission - time to replace a barftastic "Precious Moment" perhaps?

[Not forgetting NightmareTeam's tea of course!]

Have a good day everyone and see you later I hope ....

Countingthegreyghouls · 30/10/2009 07:18

Oh dear, I'll just do that last link again
...

Friday's mission

Countingthegreyghouls · 30/10/2009 07:20

Oh and v. rudely forgot to thank everyone for telling me what they do with their post (keep 'em coming). It's v. much appreciated!

[CTGG goes in search of much-needed caffeine]]

havingagiraffe · 30/10/2009 07:53

Good morning, tea over here please, bit early for coffee.

DS has kindly woken up early enough for me to MN but not so early that I need to go back to bed. He has been quite poorly and we had our first high temp which resulted in a call to NHS direct. Isn't Calpol the most marvellous thing in the world. It's still a snotfest here but things seems to be returning to normal.

Your lists have put me to shame as I can't really describe my poor attempts this week as flying. I haven't even been S & S'ing (which like you DWM I LOVE) or making my bed or horror of horror shining my sink daily!

Yesterday was slightly better as managed to 'finish' and wash a knitting project that was for a friend's newborn who was born in August. Just checked out your project DEM and it is lovely - am very as have never been able to do clothes. Friends are impressed that I make curtains but really they are just rectangles of material!

FMM Have been meaning to say to you since Tues that my Dad says they have really good deals at Center Parcs mid Dec and mid Jan. We had a lovely time although hard work sometimes going with family when you have a baby. I had 3 hours in the spa. Love Spooks but like your DH - I find it really scary - what a wimp hey.

Jumbs Yes my DP is a horder and has this really annoying habit of knowing what crap he has so if I throw it out I always get caught out.

Hello to everyone else, I am posting a list in an attempt to make me do it - I need you ladies to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Today I will

Make bed
S & S
Shine sink
Put washing on
Trim hedge (we have a babysitter so we can get it done)
Start decluttering attic room (DP is an all or nothing type - which usually means nothing - but have persuaded him that an hour today and 30mins each day after that and we'll get it done -yey )

Right I really need that tea now - in fact make a big pot I'll need two cups.

droitwitchmum · 30/10/2009 08:07

Thanks for coffee!

Busy day here today. Got to walk into town to buy new school jumpers - one went missing first week of terms and the other looks as if DS is eating the sleeves Thankfully they are the ones he had last year so its not too bad. Also need to buy birthday present, anti histamines and sugar - you flyers are certainly getting through it! Then friend and DD are coming 'late morning, early afternoon' so I doubt I'll get much done other than swish & swipe before they come and maybe a couple of hotspots. She says they need to go around 5.30 so I can get some flying done after they have gone.
Need to make sure DS does his homework today and make a phone call this evening to arrange a lift for tomorrow morning, oh and I need to pack - need to add a printer cartridge to shopping list......

DEMlostandtired · 30/10/2009 08:09

quick post as i am not here:

Hair cut
pick up missing chocolate puds
Make pack ups
off to museums and science festival in town
washing up and kitchen taming

happy flying.

droitwitchmum · 30/10/2009 08:11

Hello HAG!

Decided to make a 'proper' list:
breakfast
dressed
washing on line
shopping - jumpers, ink cartridge, present (+ wrapping paper), sugar, antihistamines
swish & swipe
hotspots - dining table, DS table
DS homework
phone Joe
pack
shine sink

That feels better - back later
