Over here everyone!

OP posts:
havingagiraffe · 27/10/2009 12:17

PMPY I have also prioristised the kitchen floor as realised didn't clean it last week because it rained on the day I was due to do it and the cats are in/out/in/out, then never got around to it. Raining again today but hey ho....

.....literally just put mop down and my pesky cat has just strolled though kitchen

havingagiraffe · 27/10/2009 12:19

.....and now done a nice circuit of floor and gone back out to re-muddy paws.

Anyone want a mad, curtain climbing, pushchair sleeping but very cute 2 yo black and white moggy!!!!

nightmareteamgirl · 27/10/2009 16:54

Evenin all

Wow what a lot of posts again waves to everyone

HavingaG what a cute putie tat... On the bright side at least thsoe foot prints will jsut wipe straight off. My cats love the smell of bleach. Actually there are ver so slightly obsessive about it and roll around on floor in a quite distrubing way for about 45 mins if I use any product with bleach in to clean floors. Wierdos. Oh and my littlest is currently asleep in DS' car seat.

DWM and PMPY (I always think of Pimping when I read that LOL) My cleaning cupboard is the same too- despite the fact that I use diluted star drops for 90% of my cleaning, and 'Daisy' bathroom spray (45p from Aldi) and Window cleanner for the other 10%. Must get on a use up. Ok, going to re-read page 13 and do another reply

nightmareteamgirl · 27/10/2009 17:05

WTD how do you end up with ids who want to go for a walk as a treat- all my DS ever wants to do is watch TV !!

POA WTG on the ironing well done!

Love the quote hellie not too highbrow

Hope DS is better frightstick - I would go for a cleaning company myself- my whole upsatirs (round beds) only cost £50

waves to OM, see you Monday

CTGG Impressive done and to do list- hows the hair cut? And how is the visitor? has she expressed amazement at your wonderfully kept abode?

Gping to see todays mission now and will report back

havingagiraffe · 27/10/2009 17:47

Wasn't sure where to post so will just copy and paste my post from earlier on Nov thread.

NMG Cats and bleach is a real thing. It's the ammonia, they think it smells like cat pee. That's why you shouldn't clean up cat pee with a bleachy product as it just encourages them to go again. Apparently they don't like the smell of citrus so I use lemon smelling spray on my kitchen to keep the little bastards poppets off.

this mornings post!

Morning ladies

I'm back, sorry I've been neglecting you but was at Center Parcs since Friday and was so disorganised before that didn't have time to post....or was it that I was too

Haven't read everything I've missed as would not get any flying done for November either if I did.

However, I go away for a few days and when I get back it's suddenly Christmas - how on earth did that happen?! OM Bet your kitchen still smells gorgeous. Half term is the traditional time for pudding making in our house too.

tibni realised the morning that it's my BF's birthday and I haven't got her anything so have decided my Control Journal is going to have to include a list of birthdays in month order. Like you mine is mainly lists of things to do atm, but am trying to write my weekly routine as I go.

PA Good luck away again, didn't catch if chaos reigned while you were away. Ironing --- aaaarrrggghhh - hate it!! It's just so Groundhog day.

CTGG Hello, glad you are surviving your house guest. I guess a good looking plumber brightens anyone's day - still make a mess though!

Hellipac How sweet of your nephew. Can't wait until my neices are big enough for babysitting, they are 8 & 6 and were with us at the w/e. DN2 is OBSESSED with DS, which is lovely, she was even happy to put cream on his little red bottom. However, she has given him her cold so snot is a big feature in my life atm.

DWM You are so organised thinking of November already. Christmas missions ! OMG - really - I am in big trouble I think.

Big waves to everyone else.

Right need to get on as DP let me lie until 8:30 in so breakfast and bathroom routine done during DS's nap - eek - behind already!

We are starting our lounge renovation/decoration this week so I guess a bit of decluttering in there will be in order. DP sledgehammering off the fireplace - oh the dust!!

helliepac · 27/10/2009 19:01

Hi all,

just a quick peek as am in middle of cooking dinner (lasagne mmmmmm) and DH has just got in from work with toothache (he had one out yesterday) tired and in a foul mood. Oh joy!

Nephew was brilliant. It still astounds me sometimes (because he comes round here a lot) that a 17 yr old lad would want to spend so much time with his ickle cousins and it is so lovely to see him with the DC's (it is probably because his dad is a "not very nice person" but that is a whole other story). DMum has just rung and offered to take me and DC's out for the day tomorrow to a big outdoor adventure world type place so DS is now ridiculously excited. But very lovely of her nonetheless.

Anyway, am off to try and appease aforementioned grumpy husband with a hot bath and some home-made food (he only gets it in school holidays . If that doesn't work, am going to lock myself in lounge with wine .

Check in later.

droitwitchmum · 27/10/2009 20:54

Hello everyone!
Busy day all round again today. Got the wine out already as I've had a bath and now will do nothing else (apart from shine my sink of course

Plan for today
dressed done
load WM done
breakfast done
DW done
ironing done
hotspot dining table done
15 mins declutter lounge done
Put toys away done some*
Hope DS football boots arrive then teach him how to tie laces for tomorrow morning arrived buit not taught him how to tie laces. I'll do it and let the staff know he can't
make cottage pie for tea done with enough mince to spare for something else tomorrow - probably bolognese
swish & swipe done
vacuum lounge can't see floor
shine sink

See you tomorrow!

Countingthegreyghouls · 27/10/2009 21:34

Heavens, that is a really impressive list Droitwitch

Just checking in again, rather wearily it has to be said, haven't done at all well on domestic front but probably was slightly unrealistic list ...I'm cross though because I didn't even manage 15 mins in office ... heigh, ho

...and haven't even started sitting room decluttering ...it's not terrible but need to sort out art cupboard and media cupboard and thin dd's toys (will try and do those during half term hols next week).

haircut done
humungous supermarket trip & other errandsdone
make soup scrubbed
clear desk in office got nowhere near it
CLEAR FLOOR IN OFFICE ditto
personal admin/paperwork nope
prepare 3 course meal worthy of Masterchef Professionals well, I cooked

did deliver some flowers to a friend and take visitor + another friend out to tea (so managed the 'enjoyable' bits .

Hope the combined effects of home-made lasagne and bath soothe your dh Hellipac
Have a great day tomorrow

Welcome back HavingAG - list of birthdays v. good idea, then one can graduate to the holy grail of "buying presents in advance" (haven't quite got there myself but am working on it)

hi Nightmareteam lol at "not too highbrow" guest happy (I think anyway) with their room (I did try and make an effort with it - despite holes in walls) and haircut not too frightful thanks for asking (have finally found hairdresser "who listens" - a rare breed) Did you get everything done that you wanted to before Sam returns tomorrow?

Frightstick Hope ds2 feeling better and you made it through the day OK

Paranoid Rhian82 Pink How are things? How's the Flying going?

Goodnight all (including anyone I have missed)

walkthedinosaur · 27/10/2009 21:48

Evening all, pass the wine DWM, have had quite a nice day, managed to get all my proper work done by lunchtime, then the DC's and I went for another hike in the woods and they've come back laden with conkers and acorns. They're having big competitions about who has found the biggest conker and are already demanding to go back tomorrow.

Have done all the downstairs floors, living room all dusted and polished and photo frames on top of piano done too. I've even hoovered under the cushions on the settee. Fortunately house is a renovation project so don't have skirting boards to worry about for the time being. Have removed DS2's trainers from the living room because he has really smelly feet and he was making that room stink.

Have given DH the shopping list to bring me my English goodies from Tesco - roll on Friday.

Just have to empty DW and shine sink and then it's off to bed for me.

Sleep well everyone.

FullMooniMarmite · 27/10/2009 21:48

Evening Ladies

I can't believe we're almost at the end of another month!

I went back to work today - a bit dull but good to be back.

HAG did you enjoy CP? We're thinking of a weekend there in December having had a great time there earlier this year. Just so easy for us while DS is little.

CTGG loved the Christmas ideas and will try to do some of them...did put the fear into me rather. I think my problem is (in general, not just Christmas) that I love planning and cooking the food so much that I tend to forget everything else...I think I believe that if I give everyone something yummy to eat the might not notice the chaos!

Sorry, keep getting lost scrolling up and down but wanted to say to those of you with poorly little ones - hope they are feeling better today x

So, what have I done today?

  • swish and swipe
  • load and unload dishwasher and reload!
  • one load of washing
  • putting clean clothes away
  • ironing - I WILL DO IT!!!! Please ask me about this!
  • lounge declutter - tidied wrapping paper drawer and found 12 books for the charity shop
  • general tidy everywhere in advance of cleaners coming tomorrow
  • shine sink - to do before bed

Right, I am going to do that ironing!

nightmareteamgirl · 27/10/2009 22:40

Hi all

OK.

Done
Swish& Swipe, bed made
Hoover upstairs and down
Dishwasher run and unloaded
Lounge polished and dusted (I love the smell of polish)
Bedroom for new au pair is spotless with clean ironed bedding on
Tesco's shop arrived and put away
Spag Bol Made ready for tomorrow night
Last few bits Freecycled and collected
Lounge decluttered
Hotspot on microwave, dampened down not put out tho!

All in a pretty good day.

To do- although I may get AP on case -is to label DS' new school uniform and iron a few of his bits, plus my ironing which I will do

Phew I need sleep!!
Thanks for askking CTGG I think I did get it all done Looking forward to seeing the lad- will be moaning about him by 3pm on Thursday I know, but I miss him when he isnt here

Countingthegreyghouls · 28/10/2009 06:25

Perhaps this comes too late but meant to say "safe travelling today PA"

Go to it fledglings!!

helliepac · 28/10/2009 06:35

oooh coffee please. Thanks CTGG.

Am going out at 9 so am going to do an accelerated fly this morning to make sure come back to a tidy house. Have given myself until 6.45 for copious coffee drinking and then will leap into action.

SOunds like everyone is doing stupendously well (apart from me ). Didn't post a list yesterday and did nothing so am going to put a list here today in the vain hope might get something done. So here goes:-

DC's dressed and breakfasted
Swish/swipe bathroom
15mins declutter living room
15 mins declutter bedroom
Start to sort DD's mammoth piles of toys in living room out...need to get some storage for living room.
Mission sounds doable as well.

All that barring decluttering to be done before go out for day today.

Have a good one everyone.

droitwitchmum · 28/10/2009 07:50

ParanoiaBigPumkinDestroyer · 28/10/2009 07:59

Checking in and enjoying a big mug of tea. I have a horrible runny nose / sneezy / sore throat thing going on but this will not deter me...I will fly today

D/W empty done
cupboard under sink mopped out and dried after pipe from sink came loose
Now the rest of the day will go something like this:

dress
laundry in w/m X 2
swish and swipe
laundry on line X 2
ironing
put away clean laundry and ironing
go to baby swim
sort out baby's clothes and bag up the ones he's grown out of for beautiful new I week old nephew
Go to fish van and butchers
declutter living room

I will post back tonight - if I even get the laundry sorted I will consider that an achievement today.

Aim to spend some time sorting control journal

helliepac · 28/10/2009 08:24

ParanoiaBigPumkinDestroyer · 28/10/2009 08:28

Fullmoonimarmite I am thinking of you as I climb the stairs to my spare room to face the ironing pile. It's the same one I was moaning about on here two days ago.

walkthedinosaur · 28/10/2009 08:59

Morning everyone, coffee over here please, not too strong, no sugar .

I am so on top of my game with the zone cleaning this week, working part time obviously suits me! Anyhow I've done it all picture frames, ornaments all of it. Was actually going to clean the windows today, but my builder has turned up - who I completely forgot about and he's going to be putting render on the walls outside the windows today, so I guess I'll do them tomorrow.

Today I think I'll concentrate on the upstairs landing and I noticed DS1's bedroom was starting to get out of control again.

I must, must do my desk it's drowning in paperwork.

And according to the DC's we're back off to the woods today, this time with a bag to "get loads of conkers and pine cones", can see me picking them off the floor for weeks to come.

Big wave to everyone - happy Wednesday!

LongtimeinBrussels · 28/10/2009 09:17

Hi Countingthegreyghouls, how are you doing? Please don't think I'm stalking you () but wanted to say hello. How's your dd doing? Is she still in the same school? It's actually perfect that I found you on this thread. I used to be very organised, never a thing out of place, but for some years now have become much more slack about things. I spend far too much time on this computer for a start!!! Anyway, this morning I decided enough is enough and as soon as came back from walking the dog started on some of the things I've been meaning to do for weeks. However, I feel I need help and encouragement because here I am back in front of the computer!!!

Any words of advice? (Haven't read the whole thread.)

droitwitchmum · 28/10/2009 09:25

Hi Longtime & welcome! I started the November thread yesterday if you want to join in here. It starts with babysteps (literally) so no one feels overwhelmed.

Hope you can join us in November

LongtimeinBrussels · 28/10/2009 09:32

Thanks droitwitchmum. It's half-term next week here so I won't be around for the first part of November but will try and get some things done over the next few days before I leave.

My youngest ds left for uni end September and I want to decorate all the bedrooms as they desperately need doing. Have emptied his room but there was a damp problem (nothing serious - leakage from the bathroom which has now been fixed) so I have to wait until I can get started. I had this week earmarked for it but now can't do it so I desperately feel I should be doing other sorting out things. There are plenty to be done!!! Just need the motivation!!!

I'll go and mark my place on the other thread in any case!

FullMooniMarmite · 28/10/2009 09:51

Thanks for the tea CTGG

Yay! I did the ironing last night I had just read WTD's post and had that 'walk the dinosaur' song in my head while I was doing it - v. bizarre!

I am feeling quite proud of myself today because although there is a lot of clutter still the house looks vaguely presentable so I've had to find extra things for the cleaners to do today. I think I must be forming habits because I still shined my sink and swished and swiped!

Got the storage boxes out from under the bed and dusted them down this morning so have asked cleaners to do a thorough vacuum under bed.

Don't get me wrong, I still have a VERY long way to go - there are two huge piles of paperwork in the hall - thank goodness we are back in zone 1 soon!

Gosh I'm rambling this morning! Welcome LTIB (is that your preferred abbreviation?).

helliepac don't be so hard on yourself, always sounds like you are doing brilliantly to me.

Well, as for today's babystep I shouldn't have a problem with that so I think I will have to do the mission too!

Have a good day all

LongtimeinBrussels · 28/10/2009 10:25

Thanks Fullmoonimarmite and I don't mind anything - LTIB, Longtime!

Am clearing my desk while I sit at the computer. Thought that might be a good start!

pushmeghoulyou · 28/10/2009 12:03

Morning all - although it's nearly afternoon already!

am at work today so mning sneakily in a corner

Have managed morning routine plus taking kitchen bins out.

DD is walking pushing her brick trolley/walker thing for the first time this morning . I am a bit shocked that she is growing up so fast already!

Welcome to LTIB and well done to all you ironers . I have folded a bit of washing today, but nothing terribly impressive!

WTD My work desk is the one 'un-flyed' area of my life. I am sitting looking at it now and can hardly see my colleagues over the many big piles of paper and general clutter. There is even a box of dried mealworms on there ,

Oh well, baby steps....

Hello to everybody else, it's taken me so long to write this I've forgotten who said shat
