Over here everyone!

OP posts:
nightmareteamgirl · 26/10/2009 21:02

Wow! You lot have been busy!

Love the seasonal name Hellie

Done the lounge challenge. Didnt take long, so I did some of DS' toy cupboard too- taking advantage of being in the house when DS is not!

BTW, for those like me that wondered Precious moments truly beautiful arent they? ! Safe to say I dont have them. Or bunnies. Although I do ahve 4 cats

DevilsEnticeMadness · 26/10/2009 21:29

You see there was me thinking that bunnies, ducks and precious moments referred to the general level of toy clutter and stuff collected for memory sake. .

Everyone seems to have got so much done. well done to those who have got their christmas cakes baked today.

i have spent most of the day dealing with the paperwork monster that has been multipling at an exponential rate in my bedroom. It got to 3pm and for sanity sake i went out for supplies (files for filing and fruit for munching). And ended up doing some christmas shopping. I now have many sorted piles of paperwork to work my way through tomo and put away with one box and small pile on the floor. But it can and will get done but not until tomo afternoon as have to go into the city to get some essential suppplies to make my dresses on my to do list this week.

I must confess I am ignoring the fat fairy's concept of zones and tasks for this week. I have until ds comes back from his stay as his dad's to tame this chaos monster that has been ruling this house! So if it looks like I am almost imploding under the list it is because i am as otherwise it is just not going to get done. And I figure that once I get to a point where it is a house and not a monster then I will be able to fly more easily as it wont take me forever to shove a hoover around because there will actually be floor to hoover....

Right I am off for an early night with a book

Happy flying tomo.

nightmareteamgirl · 26/10/2009 21:30

Oooh MM your relaxation plans sound wonderful

great work there CTGG I may have to steal all that for my holiday control journal if thats ok?

POA's lounge sounds like the place to be. All those play boy bunnies sitting very neat and tidily in her lounge ... What an image

Isnt it so great so many of us saying 'oh I am glad its the lounge- mine is all still tidying' Who would have thought it 2 months ago eh?- and for any potentials lurking, this could be YOU at Christmas!!!

Waves to OM, DWM, TIBNI (so jealous of size 12s!!) and everyone else

nightmareteamgirl · 26/10/2009 21:40

Hi DEM
On a semi serious post.
October is paperwork month, so you are sort of flying with out knowing it!!

Ona really serious post. It is so hard to get out rom under it isnt it? It took for me getting my mum round on a day when Sam wasnt here to really break my house. I sort of got redy with some clean empty files for the paperwork if you get desperate I can dig out the files and tell you what catergories I wound up with?

Good luck- I do know how it feels to be drownign in paperwork, and you are spot on- you cant zone clean till you can SEE your zone When is DS back? Sam is back Wednesday- I miss him so much but am loving the peace!!

DevilsEnticeMadness · 26/10/2009 22:08

Ds was due back wednesday but he has asked for an extra day with his dad so he will be back thursday morning. I am ashamed to say that the only time i missed him is at bedtime but that is probably because i have been madly busy. I will admit that i treated myself to the bunch of flowers that i have been promising myself for when i got my room tidy. Now I must get the last bits finished off. But it does look so much nicer tidier.

Posting my list in prep for tomo

Am - shopping in city
pm -
Clear and clean car.
finish bedroom - tidying

  • tackle filing (one category) Look at OU assignment.
FullMooniMarmite · 26/10/2009 22:41

Didn't get any ironing done but otherwise doing ok...it can wait (it certainly isn't going anywhere)!

PA well done on your tax return by the way. This year is the first year I haven't had to do one for years and I am so relieved - I was always completing it incorrectly and returning it late - paperwork REALLY not my strong point.

Night all, off to try out my new bed!

Oh, and while I remember - a quote that always inspires me to keep going:

"The best is the enemy of the good" - no idea who said it though!

Countingthegreyghouls · 27/10/2009 06:33

Good morning everyone!!

Looks like I missed all the fun yesterday...!

Will reply to individual posts later, but for now:

baby-step for Tuesday October 27th - introducing meal planning

this week's zone - Zone 5

today's mission - hoovering!

Have a good day everyone.

See you later!

walkthedinosaur · 27/10/2009 07:59

Morning all, you all seem to have done so well yesterday, well done. I pretty much did everythig on my list which I'm pleased about, but then had to spend the afternoon and evening working so didn't get much else done. My work is in early today so I've sat the DC's down in front of Toy Story and told them if they sit quietly and let me get done, we'll do something nice after lunch, they've opted for a walk again, brilliant as it's free.

My list:-

Today's work finished for 12.00
Hoover and mop all downstairs floors
Dust in living room
Iron tonight
Compile Tesco shopping list for DH to do and bring home at the weekend

Have a good one everyone.

positiveattitudeonly · 27/10/2009 08:09

Morning ladies,

I am at work at the mo, so just a quickie.

No more rocking around my ironing pile today as I no longer have it!
Stood and tackled Mount Everest last evening and now all piled up ready for DCs to put away, or me to pack.

If I don't get back on here before I go I will chase you all down on the November thread next week.

Have fun!

helliepac · 27/10/2009 08:19

Morning beautiful ladies. Well yesterday was fab, just spending time with DC's but today is back to reality. I feel I have done a little bit rubbish this month through a variety of factors (illness, work etc.)so am looking to spend the next few days getting right back on track ready for November.

Today, my nephew (17) is coming round for the day. DC's absolutely adore him and he is brilliant with them so am hoping that while they play i can get on with things. Am not going to post a list today , am just going to see what i can get done.

PA well done on the ironing pile...do you want to come and do mine. Have a good trip and see you next week

WTD the walk sounds lovely. It's grotty here this morning

FullMooniMarmite hope your new mattress was very comfy. We have to get one at the end of the month because ours is starting to cause us back pain etc.

DEM i think you doing fabulously well.

Have a good day one and all.

Here's my quote for the day-

"Life is a rollercoaster, you just gotta ride it," from that famous prophet...Mr Ronan Keating

helliepac · 27/10/2009 08:20

Bugger, forgot our esteemed leader....frantic waves to CTGG

frightstick · 27/10/2009 08:21

DS2 threw up all over me last night (including hair [hhmmm] and is most miserable this morning so I'm struggling to put him down. and DS2 has his pre-school boosters today so will also be feeing fragile.

But for what it's worth my list is

hoover
investigate carpet cleaning company (is it worth it or should I have a go myself)
post ebay items
library
gt things out of freezer for chicken pie
ironing K2
wash nappies
wash new duvet cover which is covered in tea stains courtesy of DH
get rid of visible cobwebs
plan what DSs are getting for Christmas

DS1 is on half term and it's amazing what not having those 2.5 hours makes to my productivity!

Good luck all

tibni · 27/10/2009 08:22

Morning all,

Well I have actually started the Control Journal . It is a work in progress and is more about Zone and targets for the week rather than routine lists. Those of you with a Journal - what bits are the most useful? What have you added that works for you?

I have done my first detailed cleaning yesterday. My Sitting Room has new furniture - I have 4 empty drawers still, so clutter isn't really a problem. I have cleaned all my skirting boards (wow they needed it) and even above the doors! Think I may have a look at the Flylady detailed list and maybe put them into the journal.

I have to say I was surprised to realise that I was moving onto detailed cleaning - flying must be making a difference. I still do have a lot of clutter in the house but it is good to see the difference flying is making.

Have a good day all - will check back later

droitwitchmum · 27/10/2009 08:22

Well done PAO. It's a great feeling to have NO ironing to do.

Anyone got the coffee on yet? No? Its perking away, tea brewing in pot

Apart from Christmas cake didn't get much done yesterday apart from swish & swipe and shining sink. DS started sorting toys which means lounge floor is covered in them! He and DNeice are sitting in the middle of the chaos playing battleships so no vacuuming for me yet.

Plan for today
dressed done
load WM done
breakfast
DW
ironing
hotspot dining table
15 mins declutter lounge
Put toys away
Hope DS football boots arrive then teach him how to tie laces for tomorrow morning
make cottage pie for tea
swish & swipe
vacuum lounge
shine sink

Back later

optimisticmumma · 27/10/2009 08:50

Morning all, thanks for the tea DWM. Christmas pud is smelling lovely please feel free to have a virtual stir and make a wish!

Not much flying here today as I am a taxi service. I have been commissioned to take a gaggle of 14 year olds to Bluewater ( it's OK I really don't mind) while they 'shop'. Will try to get to Ikea while I am at it as DS1 needs a new bed!!

Enjoy your wonderful nephew Hellipac. I've got one of those too (17 year old that is) and also small nephews who absolutely love him to bits! Handy for babysitting....

PaO have a good trip.

Will try to get on later but we are also going away until the weekend so I probably won't be on until Monday.

Enjoy the rest of half term all....

FullMooniMarmite · 27/10/2009 09:19

Morning Ladies

Thanks for the tea DWM. I am at work so just saying 'hello' while my other computer on a bit of a 'go slow'.

Have a great day.

pushmepullyou · 27/10/2009 09:49

Morning all

Got back from work trip at about 8 pm last night. DD has been a star so not nearly as stressful as I feared.

I have put the washing on and morning routined so far. Glad to see we're back in the living room as mine frankly needs it!

Right off to catch up with the thread

droitwitchmum · 27/10/2009 10:02

As everyone seems to be going away for a few days or coming back from somewhere I'm off to start November's thread so you can mark your places. Back in a minute

droitwitchmum · 27/10/2009 10:10

Link to November here

Can't believe that actually worked!

Countingthegreyghouls · 27/10/2009 10:24

Hello everyone, sorry i missed the communal singing yesterday

[Hums and takes a virtual stir of Optimistic's Christmas pud mix - smells fantastic btw!!) Hope you survive Bluewater!!

No work today but loads to do ...

Dh has saved the day and given visitor spare lap-top from office to use, so they don't need to go in my office (which is just as well because everything from other rooms has now been dumped in there).

So far have done:

morning routine
full English breakfast for visitor
dd to school
made sure sitting room, bedrooms and bathroom spick and span
made coffee and chatted with v. handsome plumber
cleaned up after plumber

to do:
haircut
humungous supermarket trip & other errands
make soup
clear desk in office
CLEAR FLOOR IN OFFICE
personal admin/paperwork
prepare 3 course meal worthy of Masterchef Professionals

Hello to WalktheD - well done for getting through your list yesterday
MiniMarmite -tis good you have managed to steal the time for a few lovely treatments for yourself. Oh and my guest has resorted to taking the tram, thanks for asking. Came back yesterday complaining about "priorité de droite"!!

Nightmareteamgirl -great paperwork advice - v. wise as ever

Waves to Hellipac (love the name) - I have 13 year old nephew whose cousins are all little girls - (including my dd) and he is so fantastic with them - warms your cockles it does - hope you have a great day today!

Hands mid morning coffee to Droitwitch

Waves to PA - sorry - frantic here - congratulations on your mega-ironing session. Have a good trip next week - speak upon your return! (confused about your ducks and bunnies [hmmm]) HAVE FUN!! x

tibni you are on a roll! Fantastic! So good the routines are making a difference to you and congratulations on sorting your control journal without too much sniggering!!

Oh Frightstick so sorry about DS2 being ill - hope you manage to get through the day alright ... Flying can wait ....

DEM well done on your paper-sorting marathon - I need to do exactly the same thing - it's getting me down. I started last month and prepared new files etc and the whole system has now stalled again and I'm so cross with myself ....but you have motivated me again - we SHALL overcome!!

Waves and flaps wings madly at anyone I have missed...

Carry on everyone... carry on...

Off to get my barnet chopped ....

Countingthegreyghouls · 27/10/2009 10:27

Oh! Cross posts!

Hello Pushmepullyou - Welcome back!

And - exciting this - new November thread is born

Thank you Droitwitch - you are a star!

Countingthegreyghouls · 27/10/2009 10:32

I lurrrrvvvv this thread

[CTGG dabs corners of eyes with handkerchief and clears lump in throat]

See you later !!

pushmepullyou · 27/10/2009 11:08

Phew, that took a while!

Very sorry to have missed the Christmas cake sing song -I haven't even thought of mine yet this year, but probably should get on with it before too long. I use a Nigel Slater recipe which is yummy.

Sorry about all the sick frightstick. I am not at all good with vomit and dreading DD's first sicky bug .

CTGH I know it was a while ago that you posted but I love the thread and chat - keeps me motivated and so please that DWM will be keeping us going through November

Love the namechange hellie

enthusiastically to MM PA DEM NTG HAG OM and everyone else!

Back to flying - I have just had a look at the kitchen and think I need to prioritise cleaning the floor today. It is in a shocking state! Will also clutter clear living room, but probably leave it at that as I seem to be coming down with another cold!

droitwitchmum · 27/10/2009 11:33

Thanks for the coffee ctgg!

not doing badly with list. 10 yo neice has been (and just gone) so has entertained DS while I fluttered a bit

List so far
dressed done
load WM *done
breakfast done
DW done
ironing
hotspot dining table done
15 mins declutter lounge done
Put toys away
Hope DS football boots arrive then teach him how to tie laces for tomorrow morning - not arrived yet but football kit has
make cottage pie for tea
swish & swipe
vacuum lounge
shine sink

Not on list but I've emptied my cleaning cupboard, cleaned it out and am contemplating how to get it all back in. Also why have I got 3 different types of oven cleaner when I never clean my oven...

pushmepullyou · 27/10/2009 12:02

DWM My cleaning cupboard is similar as I start used to start each pathetic attempt at tidying with a ritual buying of products that then never got used.

Have cleaned floor and cat food area, put dryer on and cleared some living room clutter, still some to go though. Need to unpack and put away at some point too, but not convinced that will be today
