Spanking new Flybaby "nursery" thread - learn how to Fly for the month of September only

Countingthegreyhairs · 31/08/2009 13:42

Hello. Does anyone want to join/re-join us for a mutual "kick-up-the-bum" motivational thread starting tomorrow 1st September?

[Then we can join the main Flying threads thereafter if we want to.)

We did the same throughout August

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/good_housekeeping/799866-starting-tomorrow-accelerated-flying-for-month-of-Augu st-only

and it has really helped but being confirmed slatterns extreme cases we feel the need to repeat the exercise throughout September too. We need to declutter, organise, tidy and clean and generally get our lives under control.

All newcomers welcome!

how nice was it to get up to a clean kitchen??

Have had a crazy day today, work till 5, then home but out again at 6.15 to take DS to karate and then not back till 8. Therefore not much achieve today but have still managed to:-

tiday front room
cleared up DH's mess when got in from work
sorted all uniform etc. for tomorrow
packed baby's bag for childminder
cooked dinner

Have still got to shine my sink tonight. Was not going to bother tbh but have just popped on here and gained some motivation so thanks ladies.

Am off to shine

Thank god today was only to do what we have already done!

Hi everyone.

Am exhausted but sink is shiny!

Thought I would be back from training day at 12 and was back at 3.20.
Result? Had to ice 20 cupcakes in 10 mins which I managed only with the help of Betty Crocker .
Anyway - 20 family members and 1 takeaway later I have a happy birthday 'boy' (he's 17 today!)
Hope tomorrow is less manic. I have officially taken off my trainers!

See you all tomorrow!

fruitstick · 03/09/2009 22:14

My niece came this afternoon to entertain DS1 so I hoped to get to grips with some of the housework. Instead I have covered the house in damp washing!

I did

  • hoover kitchen floor but not mop it
  • carry cleaning products into bathroom but not use them
  • load and unload dishwasher twice
  • make shepherd's pie
  • make about 15 portions of DS2 puree for freezer
  • I have a clean sink!

Oh and I did get dressed but not before I went downstairs! How is one supposed to do this when breastfeeding in bed and having 3 year old demanding shreddies? Someone is going to tell me to get up earlier aren't they?

NinjaRain · 03/09/2009 22:31

OK, sink shiney, loft emptied and preped for electrician tomo, bathroom un burried (moved rather then tidied) but also drove 200 miles. So i think today is done. Tomorrow brings a m=nice shiney sink and hopefully clean bedding and tidy bedroom.

runawayquickly · 04/09/2009 00:12

Shiny sink is the best...kids back at school today so I had a bit of time to look around and think about what a state our house is and what I should do to make things happier before I goton with work from home for the rest of day. Then two HUGELY motivational things happened.

  1. Neighbour I know from school gates was locked out so the whole family ended up here for a cuppa while DH (builder) got his biggest ladders out so they could get in a top window. I didn't expect company. ASHAMED at the state of my house.
  1. As I was working on the laptop in dining room saw something from the corner of my eye and realised the mice we got rid of about a year ago are back. UG. Scrubbed floor and bleached kitchen.!

More tomorrow......

Countingthegreyhairs · 04/09/2009 00:14

Yes, my time to confess!

Sorry everyone for not posting sooner - manic day.

Here's the step for September 4th

nothing too onerous and I have to be honest and say that I skipped this last time around

Apologies - must go to bed now but will catch up on thread tomorrow.

Countingthegreyhairs · 04/09/2009 08:01

Morning all - you are doing brilliantly

I'm afraid I'm just dashing in and out again (off to work now) so apologies for rapid posting

My confession is that I didn't shine my sink before bed last night and I paid for it this morning. We are all running late!

Hope you have a better morning today Floaty

I find the prospect of visitors thoroughly daunting and scarey very motivational too Runaway!

Well done Fruitstick - I think Flylady says get up 15 mins before your dc - can't imagine that that short time makes much of a difference but ....

looks sternly at TeamEdward ... hope you have a better day today

Welcome Bronze - don't worry - as PA says -it will all become clear you just have to trust the system. Once we finish the baby-steps we graduate to zone cleaning and the idea is that you never feel behind because you know that certain tasks will be coming up every week or every month. This is not a quick fix system - it encourages little and often focused cleaning in very specific, areas. Anyway, sorry I didn't respond earlier yesterday. Have a quick look at the Flylady website - read Flying lessons - and Q & A which will give you a feel for what we are doing

here

KembleTwins · 04/09/2009 08:09

Morning!

Had a lovely shiny sink before I went to bed last night, but then DH stayed up later so it was no longer shiny by the time I got up. Grrr. Still, feeling more on top of things today.

walkthedinosaur · 04/09/2009 09:14

Still keeping on top of things. Sink still shiny (ish. Managed to get up and every one out of the door for 7.30 and no screaming at anyone for the second day.

Have managed to check yesterday's work and send it off to the client.

Have emptied all the bins and driven to the bins in the village to dispose of (normally I leave them stacked up outside the back door until I trip over them).

Dishwasher is on, breakfast table is wiped, so am going to have a quick cup of coffee and tackle the stairs and bathroom before today's work arrives on my computer.

Shamefully though, the ironing I did the other night is still sitting in my bedroom waiting to be put away, but on a plus side, I knew exactly where DS2's trousers for school were today (yup in the ironing in my bedroom).

NoGoodNicknamesLeft · 04/09/2009 09:14

Hey all, can I join in? Have subscribed to the flylady e-mails twice before and basically just snorted at them instead of doing it. Do you have to have to put on shoes? I hate wearing shoes indoors...

positiveattitudeonly · 04/09/2009 09:42

Welcome nogoodnicknames - no shoes necessary. I really cant abide wearing shoes indoors, so just ignore that bit, I do!!!

Everybody seems to be doing really well. WELL DONE!!

I am sat at work at the moment - working really hard, obviously!

Before work I managed to:
Sandwiches for DH
Empty washing and put in tumble dryer (quicker than on line, lazy way today!!)
Put another load of washing in

Ok, not a huge amount today. Sink is still shiny, though! Disaster last night with the drawers from the bathroom covered in shampoo etc. I stupidly put them in the dishwasher to clean them thoroughly. Half way through DW gave up and when I opened the door it was like one of those kiddy cartoon moments with bubbles flying everywhere!
Kids all thought it hysterically funny and after a few glass es of wine I was beyond being too helpful!! Must clean kitchen floor when I get home and sort out all the residue!

Officially last day of the holidays for us today (although dd2 already back at school), so off to an adventure/animal park for a reliving of childhood memories day, requested by DD4 and DS. Hopefully DD3 will be well enough to come along too. Can't see me doing anything other than that today, so will not post any goals, so no confessional will be needed tonight!

Done enough "work" today, so I am off. "see" you all later.

McDreamy · 04/09/2009 09:47

Morning all - what a difference coming fown to a (reasonably) organised kitchen is!!!

Not sure I'll be doing the sticky note business but I'm still here which I think is a record for me

Completey mad day yesterday - completely shattered and unmotivated today...help!!! After dog/dead seal incident all went ok -even managed to clean rest of bathroom when finished work at 12.30 (v. p/t teacher). Picked up DCs from school, did a bit of shopping and walked dog again with DCs (in woods this time well away from dead seals). Home at five to be met by DHs' colleague - DH hit on head by boat and in A & E . Dropped DCs off with gorgeous neighbour, 50 min drive to hosp, DH eventually managed to persuade them to discharge him - got home 10.30 to be greeted by snotty answerphone message from hairdresser about missed app. this am (oops).

snorkie · 04/09/2009 10:04

sink is shiney (ish). Rest of house still a tip. Ahh well.

stepaway · 04/09/2009 10:18

hi everyone

Would you mind if I joined you a few days late? I seriously need to get organised and now that school's restarted, I have no more excuses. I've had a look at the steps 1-4 and will go and get caught up with the rest of you.

thanks, OP, for starting this! Good luck everyone!

EyeballsintheSky · 04/09/2009 10:23

Am I too late? I need help; did sign up on the website last year but the emails got on my tits

NoGoodNicknamesLeft · 04/09/2009 10:29

Lol, just shined kitchen sink and discovered an etched "H" and "C" on the tap that I had never seen before!!!

deepdarkwood · 04/09/2009 10:34

sink still shined, dressed to lipgloss (my version of shoes ) and cleared out a couple of kitchen cupboards with very satisfying results.

Hope you have a clamer day today, bigboots

Morning ladies

I keep reading DW as DearWife!

Sink got neglected last night as dd2 started being sick. I've kept her off school today. I have managed to wipe over the kitchen, do a load of washing and hang it out. The bathroom needs some serious attention and I need to change dd2s bed, but atm she's laying on it playing on dd1s ds!

Hope your dh is ok Bigboots. How did a boat hit his head?

Don't think I'll bother with writing the points down either Ctgh. Surely sticking post-it notes all over the place just adds to the clutter!

tibni · 04/09/2009 11:23

Hello all,

Had the bright idea of washing all the new uniform and the bedding yesterday, then if I hadn't enough washing we all went swimming. Not sure how many loads or how much ironing I did - just finished the last dry lot this morning and need to put a few more things away.

My dc's not back to school until next wednesday and dh contract just finished so I have a house full.

Have lots more to do so will drag myself off the laptop. Have a good day everyone.
