Spanking new Flybaby "nursery" thread - learn how to Fly for the month of September only

Countingthegreyhairs · 31/08/2009 13:42

Hello. Does anyone want to join/re-join us for a mutual "kick-up-the-bum" motivational thread starting tomorrow 1st September?

[Then we can join the main Flying threads thereafter if we want to.)

We did the same throughout August

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/good_housekeeping/799866-starting-tomorrow-accelerated-flying-for-month-of-Augu st-only

and it has really helped but being confirmed slatterns extreme cases we feel the need to repeat the exercise throughout September too. We need to declutter, organise, tidy and clean and generally get our lives under control.

All newcomers welcome!

Another lapsee here (bless me, Counting for I have sinned) - I have held onto a few good habits, and would like to get some more back...

Will shine sink & see you all tomorrow

GoldenSnitch · 03/09/2009 13:03

Thank goodness I've been flying this week! We have some firemen coming over this afternoon to do a fire safety check on our house. Good job it's clean enough to let people in at the moment!

Sink is shiney
2 loads of washing in machine
1 load on line
Dishwasher emptied
Dishwasher cleaner in
Clean dishwasher filled with breakfast dishes
Sides cleaned
Bedroom tidied
Birthday present and top-up shopping done
DS has new shoes
1 drawer sported through to get rid of stuff I'll never wear again

Now for a bit of a vac before the firement get here...

AvadaKedavra · 03/09/2009 13:24

Oooh enjoy that won't you GS

Baby is napping so able to nip on and have a sit down for an uninterupted cuppa!

Sink is shiny, shoes were on (but now off as been out in rain) and have had to mop the floor for the 3rd time today gah!

Washing up done
Floor swept and mopped 3x bloody kids
Counter sides wiped down
Highchair cleaned

and that's about it for now!

blissa · 03/09/2009 13:32

Hi everyone

First day back for us too

Well done everyone, you're all so organised!

Sink is just about shiny- am lapsing alreadyone load of washing is done and on the line. Tesco shop is done.

Really should hoover but the estate agent just rang to say our landlord wants to put our rent up, so not in a great mood now. Might have a cup of tea and a bit of cake instead!

Glad your dd had a good day yesterday ctgh, hope it continues.

Good luck with the trousers PA. I was looking throught dd1s skirts last night and realised she only has 2, aged 6- she is now 8. Looked a bit short on her this morning but I managed to pick her one up in Tesco- they only had 1 in her size.

Very of the firemen coming to your house GoldenSnitch!

Bigboots · 03/09/2009 13:40

Woke up before DC's, washed, dressed, trainers at the ready and cuppa before waking them (feeling v. smug at this stage). Collective breakfast, teeth and delivered to school and feeling so good took poor neglected dog for walk on beach before work....poor neglected dog rolls in dead seal! Drive home with violently stinking dog - all windows down - wash dog in bath with DC's cherry and almond shampoo. Dog now smells like dead seal in formaldehide . Clean bath in record time - dog hair everywhere but at least the bath is shiny!

blissa · 03/09/2009 13:52

Oh your poor thing Bigboots

And I was just coming back on to say that the chicken is roasting in the oven and the potatoes and carrots are pealed, kind of put me off my roast now

positiveattitudeonly · 03/09/2009 13:54

Goldensnitch - behave yourself with those firemen. Don't forget confession at 6pm, we'll all be waiting to hear from you

HALLELUJAH I have trousers! Only one pair as they were so damn expensive, but i will have to just wash and dry them overnight until I either get fed up with that, or can afford another pair. The school are so stupidly fussy over what they want. I also had a run in slight disagreement with the shop lady for refusing to sell me PE shorts for dd4, as she is supposed to use a skort, which is literally 7x the price of shorts. I refused to buy them and was heard saying that if the school were going to insist they could buy them!

Anyway, then took kids out for lunch to celebrate end of hols and feel nothing like doing any hoovering, dusting, shining or anything else for that matter. (I can feel a confession may be needed later)

So much for a good start before 9am. All down hill from then!

KembleTwins · 03/09/2009 14:07

Am really starting to get this. Have followed babysteps so far - am kind of panicking that day 28 will involve blitzing the entire house though... Still, have been shining sink, as instructed, and making sure I'm up, dressed with hair and makeup before breakfast. Last night, DH commented that the kitched was looking really "tidy and sparkly". Ha. It was just the sink!

Shoppingveggie · 03/09/2009 14:21

Afternoon all - managed to stick to my plan of not getting on here until 2pm - but thought I would be able to relax with a cuppa - no, still got a fair bit to do.

I have kept sink shiny and DW emptied when clean, but with regards the rest of the house I have been running around like a woman possessed.

Spare room is sorted, clean bedding on, bathroom cleaned, hoovered upstairs, hoovered downstairs too (but not moved furniture ) kitchen good, playroom good.

Relatives are arriving around 6pm, so going to eat around 7, still need to hoover stairs, final tidy (about 15 mins) and buy something nice for tea. Sounds fine, but got to pick up boys and take them swimming too - do-able I am sure.

All this panicking (sp?) makes me even more determined to fly - oh yes, did makeup that that this morning, keep getting a shock when I look in the mirror, only used to wearing it when I am going to work!

Hope you are all OK._

Shoppingveggie · 03/09/2009 14:23

that that ??? opps

blissa · 03/09/2009 14:35

You're doing great Shoppingveggie how long are your guests staying for?

Well done on getting the trousers PA. It's a nightmare when schools are very insistant on a certain type of uniform, especially when it's bloomin expensive.

I've managed to run the hoover round. Ds got messy with the playdough so I had to

bronze · 03/09/2009 14:35

ok sorry Ive read first two pages but I'm going to run out of time to clean if I dont post

first thing can I join? I'm going to assume I can. Thank you. I've been l;ooking at your threads on and off for ages
second. Ok you're on day three now thats ok. The bit I dont understand is if for the first week you only shine your sink, then shine your sink and get dressed etc doesn't everything get on top of you very quickly? Honestly my normal day would have a list 20 things long and I'm still not on top of it?

I think my house is worse than most to start but I really need help but with 4 kids and a busy husband I'm not sure just shining my sink etc isnt going to make it worse.

Please explain/help

GoldenSnitch · 03/09/2009 15:04

We'll, the family Snitch now has 2 brand new smoke alarms fitted and tested for free by the lovely Fireman Johnny

And we know what to do in the event of a fire.

I got to talk to not so sexy fireman Malcolm while they were fitted. He did say my new kitchen was beautiful though and said that not every house was like mine - lots of people had stuff piled everywhere

He did leave dirty marks on my carpet though!

Was a little peeved DS didn't get to have a look in the fire engine but I guess they're busy and have better things to do than amuse a 2 year old.

Having an imminent visit from strangers did give me the motivation needed to vacuum pretty much the whole house and move some boxes to the garage that I've been meaning to shift for ages though which is good. House is no longer suffering from CHAOS

Now to keep it like this

Shoppingveggie · 03/09/2009 15:06

Thanks Blissa Family only staying tonight as they are en-route to Dorset for the weekend, in fact I am dropping off the boys with them tomorrow after school so they can take them to Monkey World. Will collect them Sunday afternoon, so DH and I have the weekend to ourselves - shame we are skint at the moment and he is on-call

Got to dash - school run.

Hope you all doing fine x

AvadaKedavra · 03/09/2009 15:10

Just mopped again

positiveattitudeonly · 03/09/2009 17:34

Bronze, don't worry. These babysteps are just to get us going. You will probably find like most of us on here, that once you decide to clean the sink, you have to clean crockery/load dishwasher to be able to do it, you then want to clean the surfaces and one thing leads to another. Before you know it the clean sink leads to a clean kitchen, without you really knowing it. It certainly worked that way with me and you don't feel guilty if you don't manage to get some things done, cos you only set yourself to clean the sink!! Do you understand me?????

Kembletwins - don't panic. There is absolutely no manic blitzing. AS we go along I thing we set a timer for 15 minutes and do very small manageable areas/tasks. Thats the closest thing to a blitz that you get. I found myself really motivated to actuallty blitz once it got going, but you certainly dont have to.

CTGH - I will be here to listen to you confessing, too! Don't want you to feel lieft out here!

My confession is that I failed to hoover the stairs, but instead I cleaned the bathroom and have sorted all the gunk out of drawers that have had leaking shampoos in and other things that teenage girls just don't seem to be able to understand need throwing away. YUCH!!!!! eg: old soaps, waxes (not used thankfully) and just GUNK. Glad that is over with.

Nice glass of wine and feet up for evening to celbrae a nearly successful day. (any excuse really)
Good luck to you all, have a good evening.

positiveattitudeonly · 03/09/2009 17:36

Oh dear spelling looks as if i have hit the wine already! sorry!!!!

bronze · 03/09/2009 17:41

Thanks positive.
I've been winding DH up with the sound of my phone going off every 15 mins.
