Whatever your speed or method, whether it’s a few shelves, a couple of boxes or entire attics, rooms, or garages, come here and share both your successes and your struggles. There’s support and commiserations, and lots of good ideas.

Sold some waterproof trousers on Vinted. Can’t remember if I mentioned putting some coasters on the charity pile.

DecemberGloom · 09/02/2026 18:27

1 jam jar
1 magazine
1 face mask
Pressure cooker
9 bits random junk from garage

Total 507

Motorbike gloves that came with the bundle have sold & posted this morning. I’ve walked around with a carrier bag just randomly flinging stuff to throw away in- including poo bag holder that fits none of the bags I buy, old fraying lead (have loads 😬) & various McDonald’s toys & toys that the dog has successfully killed. I did have to buy my son boxing gloves & a gun shield for his next karate grading so that was annoying.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 09/02/2026 19:38

Woo Hoo 2 more sales! A Per Una jacket that I only posted today & a Lipsy dress.

One face wash used up. Total is 4305

I sent a big box of baby clothes to my SIL (dc3 is still a baby! Getting better at getting rid of things faster)

1 rug to charity shop
2 kids items sold on Vinted and dropped off yay

Need to bin some kids artwork next

Chucked some random bits from the Kallax toy boxes. The DC are moving away from "toys" as such, although the youngest still has quite an impressive collection of HotWheels. We have a box of Brio which I keep thinking about getting rid of, but I think it would have to be Facebook Marketplace as it might be too heavy for Vinted buyers. Maybe Ebay?

Also binned a dried up mascara and a used handcream, and decanted the remaining Christmas chocolates into one tub - all horrible toffee pennies and mini Bounty bars that no-one likes!

I sold some brio track on vinted. It was fine!

Realfastfoodie · 09/02/2026 23:07

A bunch of stuff given away locally and 5 big boxes being collected by Anglo Doorstep tomorrow. It’s just over 120 items! Very excited!

One lemon essential oil used up
One foundation used up
One tatty bathroom disposed of

I've been lurking, but wondering if joining in posting might further inspire me. Having stuff constantly stresses DH, and frustrates me when I can't find things. So making another effort this year to move on anything we don't actively use. Quite a lot of vinted success, and I aim to take one carrier bag a week to the charity shop of anything that isn't selling to keep things moving out. Current task has been to go through cook books. If a book doesn't bring much joy or inspiration to read, I'm copying out any recipes I might actually make (accounting for fussiness of family and ease of making), then putting the book on the out pile. Some books are lovely and will stay, but I should have a better more loved collection when I'm done. I'm finding as things go, it's easier to tackle the next drawer / cupboard / shelf

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 10/02/2026 23:26

Out - one bent glasses case.

Sorted by DH and taken to tip - Seven defunct fluorescent tubes and fittings from garage. Box of broken odds and ends from workbench.

Also three woodwormy drawers, and five ancient rusty metal pots and trays from the fairies’ garden

Welcome @LadyPene, sounds like you're doing great!

@IndianSummer78 you've disposed of a tatty bathroom? That sound quite serious and exciting!!

Not a lot of decluttering here, but a couple more Vinted sales - a blanket and 2 more dresses and I binned some slipper socks which were threadbare. I'm slowly feeling better about my clothes. My wardrobe is feeling a bit lighter and all the drawers shut fine now. I have 4 boxes of summer and too small for me clothes which I'm starting to think about going through now, and far too many coats and jackets

Two charity shop bags dropped off on Monday plus a pair of DD1s glasses recycled at Specsavers. There's still a pile of toys and games in the living room that needs to be bagged up and donated, plus a Box of Doom that DP brought in from the third bedroom, the contents of which are a mystery to me. I suspect there is nothing we need in it....

IndianSummer78 · 11/02/2026 20:33

🤦 an autocorrect typo that escaped me cheese plant! 😂 It was a bathrobe. (The notion of me, who's spirit animal is the sloth, decluttering an entire bathroom in one day is just too funny 🤣.)

Today's effort was 3 sticker sheets used up decorating notebooks. Total is 4311

Aww see my mind went to a nice home renovation project. Your old bathroom outside in a skip and a shiny new bathroom (with lots of clever storage for all the stuff 🙃) waiting to be plumbed in 🤣

So I brought down some big plastic toddler toys out of the loft with the intention of selling them. Turns out I left them on the landing for 2 weeks instead. So today's outs are:

Charity shop: 4x toddler toys
Bin / recycling: broken coat hanger
Vinted/sold locally: Jacket

Hello new (not so new really) thread, I’ve been totally MIA.

I have been nibbling away at things but mostly working, running (although now injured) and sleeping. I always have great plans when I have days off but the sofa, & currently the Olympics, call me and days just disappear.

Jobs:

  1. Hang up framed pictures; handyman friend to do - typically he hasn’t returned yet
  2. DS1’s gaming, PC, Nerf, Warhammer & D&D sorted and tidied and put away into eaves cupboards
  3. Bathroom redecoration: Mirror & pictures up; handyman friend to do one day…
  4. Shelves in DS1’s room: handyman did these DONE ✔️
  5. Irish passports for DD & DS2

Not quite outs yet:
pile of clothes for DD to sell on Vinted - DD has taken the pile so let’s see pile went to charity shop in the end ✔️
pastry cutters on FB - poss bin/recycle metal ones DONE ✔️
jigsaw to a friend

Out:
loads of OOD meds
broken picture frames
some ancient leggings of mine
a few books

Not going to count items as I haven’t counted so far, will just aim for better organisation all round.

DecemberGloom · 12/02/2026 22:47

11 items from DD wardrobe
2 ‘designer’ carrier bags with tissue

Morning - haven’t posted for a while but been getting rid of quite a lot, including jewellery (Vinted). A mystic topaz ring sold in seconds! I did wonder if I’d charged enough but it does have a slight scratch plus I think it’s only silver plated. Didn’t realise you can sell homewares so going to trawl my kitchen & dresser cupboards. I advertised a Neom pillow mist & plan to go through my cosmetics as I have loads of make up. Considering putting some partially used perfumes on E Bay too. Sold a couple more bits on Vinted including a Per Una skirt. Still far too much clutter though!

Lost my way for a few months, was at capacity and sickly since mid Jan. With the brighter days I decluttered a few things yesterday.

Large bag of art lessons with samples.
Old wall posters x 2
Dance lesson book.
Old craft books, manuals.
Unfinished art work 24
A3 Samples of work 24

Just saw the SJ thread today, might try and use this mentality to help me declutter daily from today on.
